You don't seriously think people write fanfics with screen editors like
VI, do you?  They use word processors, which can and do introduce odd
formatting problems when used to create e-mail messages.

Yes. I use vi. I always use vi for anything that has anything to do with
my web page.

Downloading things to my computer, editing them, uploading them, getting
rid of all the ^M characters, etc, is rather tedious.

Vi is good. Vi is fast. It's even better when you can cut and paste with
it (well, copy and paste) such as in X-Window or even in DOS through
Telix, or something, with a program  called 'markit'.

I'll only ever use Word or something for spell checking. I'll download the
file, after it's done, once. Run it through the word checker... then
upload it again, or even make a not of the wrong spellings and correct
them in vi! (Or, if at work, do a combination of both...)

So, yes. People DO use vi. People DO still use DOS. And YES, people DO
despise Micro$haft Windoze.
