In a nutshell, if you don't like what Mark David is supposedly doing,

his

No, he doesn't. Tybalt doesn't have the final say, *I* do.

Then that's even worse. If you're the owner of this list, than you have
a responsibility to the people on it. Not only have you attacked
somebody repeatedly who is NOT violating the rules of this ML, you are
violating the rules yourself by posting your attacks here, AND you have
violated Netiquette and goddamn common courtesy by posting a reply to my
PRIVATE E-MAIL in a public forum.

I would be hard-pressed to name someone who has managed to be quite so
offensive. I expect this kind of disgraceful conduct from the likes of
KJ Karvonen, -not- a respectable listowner.

I also happen to be the listowner. I find him offensive. If he

Then add to the FAQ that this ML is only for people whom you like. Most
of us were not aware that the sole requirement for being on this ML is
having to act in a fashion pleasing to a listowner who flagrantly
violates their own rules, not to mention courtesy, to carry out a
senseless personal grudge.

permission to use this list as a vehicle for his bias against >fanfics.

Which, except in a few cases that were within the first couple of weeks
after he got on the list (and where -you- were conspicuously absent), he
HAS NOT DONE. He has given negative C&C, yes. He has expressed
opinions about characters that are controversial, yes. But he has never
shown any bias against fanfics in general. In fact, he takes the time
to read and make commentary on fics that many of us glance at and trash
immediately. The only crime "the Critic" is guilty of is excessively
attacking Richard Lawson, which is NOT attacking fanfics in general.
You yourself have more grossly violated both the rules of the list AND
internet etiquette in the message I'm replying to, to say nothing of
certain other individuals whom you have not publically chastised at all.

You may think that being the listowner gives you carte blanche to do
whatever you damn well please here. I have neither intention nor
ability to fight that idea, but I strongly beleive that while the people
on this list have an obligation to respect the rules you have laid out,
you have a similar obligation to them not to misuse your power. In your
actions on this ML, and in posting a private e-mail, you have grossly
misused that power, and you have also proven the very accusations of
pettiness that I earlier stated. Whether this is your usual demeanour
or an unusual act, possibly brought on by other stress, I do not know,
but you owe the ML an apology. They probably won't care much, given the
Critic's unpopularity, but were they to put aside their biases for a
moment, they might realise what a dangerous precedent this sets. Or
perhaps I stand alone in thinking a listowner has some responsibilities
to their subscribers, as well as vice-versa.

In any case, this dishonourable violation of what was sent as a private
message (ironically, because I did -not- wish to publically embaress
you) is absolutely intolerable. I withdraw from the ML, effective
immediately.
