Word Processor problems I've observed with
different systems (its not just line length)

1. The presence of =# characters in place of ' or "

Correctible by telling those programs to use straight quotes instead
of "smart quotes".

2. Entire stories being replaced with little boxes.

Correctible by telling those programs to save in text format rather
than ".doc" or ".wps" format.

3. Long lines noting text size, font type, etc. (often found in HTML
and RICHTEXT

See above.

4. Fic comes out as 3 lines approximately 255 characters long

Correctible by either the word processor program itself (Word allows
you to save in "Text Only with line breaks") or by configuring your
email client to wrap outgoing messages. Note that for the latter to
work, you shouldn't attach the file, but instead cut and paste the
contents.

In short, a little configuring (not difficult to do) can make a word
processor an excellent fanfic writing tool.
