Let no asinine pseudo-critic fool you; reasonable divergence from the
source material is good.  Shouldn't Gendo be acting differently?  In the
flashback scenes during the SEELE interrogation, there are hints that
Gendo changed into the person he is from Yui's disaster.

Also, don't forget that Yui's initial dissapearance explains lots about
the quirks of Unit-01.  In this reality, how will Unit-01's self movement
in the hanger be explained?

The sardines weren't worth the trouble.  A few more shots, then 
Ryoga-san would overheat and explode.  Ducking around a corner, 
I managed to lose him as I entered the ramshackle residence of 
my Anime supplier.

One look at his face and I knew that I was betrayed.  "Tell me."
I insisted.  He refused, so I slammed him against the wall.
