There will be more tension between Ranma and his father. Genma was
willing to go to any length to make Ranma into appropriate marriage
material. Remember how, in Ranko 1/2, Genma deliberately turned Ranko
into a boy?

I didn't find it too believable in Ranko 1/2, either. (You notice the
author of that fic doesn't _seem_ to be heading for a Ranko/Akane
matchup.)

Not necessarily. You'll note that 'Bast always was careful to leave a
bit of tension in there about that. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won't.

Here's an idea. Happi still trained both Soun and Genma right? Happi
knows Jusenkyou.

Now, the first time that Soun changed around the old pervert, he thinks
it's a result of the cursed springs. This results in him explaning the
springs to Soun and Genma. So when Genma has only one son and Soun has
three 'daughters', Genma takes Ranma to Jusenkyou as the first stop on his
10 year training trip...

Maybe you should introduce a nice Shimeru boy as a rival for Akane's
hand. Since this Kasumi is vocally against a marriage with an
outsider,
she might try to arrange a "tribal" marriage for Akane. Someone who
could present a serious threat to Akane's heart.

This would work. Ranma (original) could never turn away from a
challenge, even when he didn't what the prize. Even when he really didn't
want to *get* the prize.

"There's no way I'm marrying some pervert!"

"Who're you calling a pervert?!" Ranma demanded. "You're the
freaks!"

Actually.... where _did_ the pervert crack come from? It just seems
to
fly out of nowhere. Akane has no reason to start thinking
"pervert".

(*WARNING: amature linguistics ahead! Keep salt handy! *)

Didn't actually have any problems with this. It's kinda obscure, but
Akane always called Ranma a hentai because of the multiple meanings it has.
It can mean pervert OR change (or both). It was a insult targeting his
gender changing.

This same play on words is used in FKC. When Futaba's father is
relating the facts of life, which Futaba somehow missed in the last 15(?)
years, he refers to the whole family as hentais. The sentance could be
translated as 'we all change' or 'we are all perverts'. (I understand that
the author meant BOTH interpretations)

Here's a cool idea. What if Akane can't decide? She's always
picking
a
new name every week, deciding it doesn't 'sound right' and then
discarding it for a new name. Her family is heartily sick of it.

"I am the Blue Thunder of Furinkan High!"
"Blue Thunder? Wasn't he Shooting Star last week?"
     :)

     A couple of random notes:

You *really* need to be careful of the gender pronouns in a fic like
this. There are several places that could be alot clearer on which gender
somebody is. Always make sure to note when someone changes.

It seems that both Nabiki and Akane change where Ranma can see them
before he 'finds out' about the family trait. Why didn't he pick up on it?
Ranma might not be able to find a clue if it was taped to his forehead, but
he is very aware of his surroundings.

Given that Ranma's curse is explained after the demonstration, I would
think that everyone would be more surprised. After all, the only effect
that water has on them is that cold showers are a good way to switch back to
normal.

Would the chitsuion (sp?) have any effect on an FKC change?
