Have problems with Microsoft SmartQuotes in your fics?
Does your mailer create broken mime headers that make everyone else
see as '=20' in your work?
Can't make your editor turn these features off, or don't want to
learn one that doesn't have these problems?
Try the new 'Cleanup' services. Just mail a copy of your fic
(text files only please) to 'cleanup@thekeep.org'. You should get
back a copy of your fics with all odd MIME quoting and Smart Quotes
removed. Additionally Cleanup will list at the beginning of the
message a list of words that may possibly be misspelled.
For people who have problems making their mailer do 80 column text,
there is also a feature (off by default) to reformat paragraphs to
"standard" widths. The reason this is off by default is that you
*must* put a blank line between paragraphs for it to work, and it
will also destroy any centering or other text justifications you
might have had. To turn it on, add the keyword 'format' to the
subject of your posting.
Comments and suggestions for the service should be sent to me directly,
since if you send them to Cleanup, it will send them right back with a
list of misspellings. ;)
Now if only I could find a grammar checker and a trite dialogue
detector....
