Just my opinion here. I think, in general, it matters because I believe
there is a difference between giving criticism of varying kinds and
telling people they shouldn't go writing those kinds of fics, that they
are worthless, that they are pointless, that they are a waste of one's
time. To me, there is a difference between being brought down to earth and
being buried in it. I appreciate the former, but not the latter.

If his posts were merely to people in private, perhaps it wouldn't matter.
But what about other people who might read one's work, but decided it was
a waste of time or that its worth wasn't high enough to merit their time
because of one person's post? It matters, whether you take heed of it or
not. If a tree falls and no one is around to hear it... does it make a
sound? It is somewhat moot if the tree fell on someone's house. ^_^;;

True. I agree with you completely. Getting some kind of response is better
than getting none at all. In so saying, knowing what kind of response was
made is important. Taking this into account, knowing that comments and
responses are made in public, but not paying attention to it can have an
affect. Especially if people start buying into the posts.

So ppl, lighten up a bit,

enough with the stupid spamfics poking fun at him, and enough with the
complaining about this 'DC' or flame or whatever you choose to call it,
forget about that and just get to the writing..

On a personal note, and if GUB/Critic/AllM or whatever title he's assigned
himself would be so kind, my personal remark to him is... what is your
reasoning behing your posts? I mean.. I've read your posts and aside from
being caustic in nature and inciting interesting remarks from other
ML'ers, there has always been, to my understanding, little meat on the
bones which are oh so sharp. 

Anyways, that's my two cents for the moment. ^_-
