Hmmm... neko-Ranma hadn't thought of that. neko-Ranma
would certainly have the strength and ferocity to
account for the damage to the victims. About the
only thing that would throw doubt on the guilt of
neko-Ranma are the acid burns on the victims.
But that could be explained by neko-Ranma taking the
victims to a particular place to do the dirty work.
Plus since Ranma does not remember anything he does
in neko mode his reaction to learning of Yuka's
death would be quite genuine.
If neko-Ranma is the killer, then I see this ending
with Ranma commiting seppuku as a very real possibility.
He would do this in order to expiate his guilt and
shame. This act would also restore the face of the
Tendos in the eyes of their neighbors and friends.
Since, it was Genma who was responsible for Ranma's
neko-ken training, he has just as much motive to
commit seppuku as well. But knowing him, he would
probably just run away and avoid the responsibility.
You know I was half expecting somebody like Yuka
to be the third victim. That somebody known to the
main cast is a victim will make the crime much
more real to them and really stomp down the
"shit happens to somebody else" syndrome.
Now my shortlist of suspects for the killer.
Ranma - with the cliffhanger in part 2 is the leading
suspect.
Konatsu - a near perfect match of the psyche profile
in part 1. But _IF_ a new body turns up and is
judged to not be a copycat and the time of death
is determined to be when he and Tsubasa were already
in custody then he is off the hook. Unless of course
there is more than person involved in the killings.
Tsubasa - his obsessive behavior with Ukyou and his
crossdressing are my indicators. Again if the scenario
above does happen then he is of the hook as well.
Ukyou - the feelings on spending 10 years on a vendetta
simply does not the vanish the instant Ranma called
her cute. She can be pretty violent and was quite
willing to do GBH to both Saotomes. Plus, if she sees
her chances with Ranma evaporating, this could drive
her over the edge.
Akane - the loss of her mother at the age suggested in
the profile plus her violent tendecies are what leads
me to put her on this list. Plus, just how does she
feel about onna-Ranma especially if they get married
and has to get intimate with onna-Ranma. Her reaction
to the news of Yuka's death could be a supreme acting
job, though I think it genuine.
Ryoga - certainly has the werewithal to do it. It might
have even started with Ryoga trying to get over his
shyness around women and the girl insulted him.
One thing about the interrogation scene is that I don't
know if the Japanese use the grand jury system to
indict criminals. I do know that there are no jury
trials in Japan. All trials are held before a three
judge panel.
