Okay, as an occasional fanfic author and list member, as well as as a
shapeshifting living candle from the opposite rim of the Milky Way, 
one feels the need to protest this slandering of extraterrestrials.

Most aliens living on Earth just want to be left alone; most avoid
other aliens.  Talking about "nefarious conspiracies" and
"transdimensional shapeshifters" is just rude.

And you should never insult people who can blow up your planet. ]:^)
