Planet Galaxus Prime (Galaxy Police Home Planet)
On top of the roof of a 200-story super-skyscraper, Ryoko Hakubi paced around,
waiting for her appointees to arrive. She held a leather brief case in her
left hand. She leaned against her hover-cycle and looked at her watch; 2
o'clock standard time. She looked around for any signs arrivals but nobody
was in sight. Getting slightly irritated, Ryoko let out a slight growl and
quietly cursed. There was nothing particularly special about the roof she
stood on, just like most others she's been on; it's full of roofing gravel,
smell of hot tar against the sun, and worst of all depending on the weather
and/or climate it can get really hot or extremely cold. Today, it was luckily
fairly comfortable. She peered up to gaze at a few white clouds floating
across an electric blue sky, the surrounding atmosphere was alive with aerial
traffic composed of numerous airborne vehicles. From hover commercial trucks,
space cars, transports, air taxis, and last but certainly not least, Galaxy
Police vehicles. Ryoko peered at her watch again; 2:10pm.
"Great!" Ryoko snapped angrily. "He's ten minutes late!! Kiyone, are you
sure this is the right spot?"
{Ryoko, trust me.} Kiyone cracked over the radio in Ryoko's left ear.
{That's the building he wanted to meet you. Be patient, he's probably stuck
in some traffic.}
"Alright. I'd sure wish this guy would just hurry it up and get here, I hate
these stupid secret-meeting arrangements."
{Look, I hear you. That's expected in this line of work, it's all part of
the job and-}
Ryoko interrupted. "I know I know, anything to keep the cash and income
flowing through. I really hate carrying out jobs for the Galaxy Police. So
how are things looking at your spot?"
Two buildings away, Kiyone was on a much higher rooftop watching Ryoko's
every move through her binoculars. "Everything looks alright on my side. OH
WAIT! I can see him coming towards you."
Ryoko scanned around into the aerial traffic. "Where?"
{Straight ahead, it's the black windowless hover van.} Kiyone said through
the radio.
Ryoko spotted the van coming up to the roof. "Ok, I see them. Kiyone?"
{Yes, Ryoko?}
"Keep an eye out for any trouble."
{Don't worry, I will.}
As the hover vehicle landed, Ryoko stood wearing her best professional face.
The side door slid open and a canine-like alien stepped out. Ryoko noticed
that the brown-furred alien was wearing a pressed blue suit and a very
noticeable ring which indicated a wealthy lifestyle.
The van behind him took off as soon as his feet touched the roof.
"Well, well, well." The alien said with a grin. "Long time no see, Ryoko!"
"Likewise, Tory"
"So how's life after being a space pirate?"
"Never been better and you?"
"Oh..., heh heh, quaint. My life's been made more interesting now with an
entire horde of killers out looking for me."
"That good, eh? That sounds like a life to die for."
"It really is. Wanna trade?"
"Uh..., no thanks. I already have enough enemies as it is."
"Yeah, it can be a pain-in-a-butt sometimes and..."
Kiyone listened to the exchange of greetings through her radio as she scanned
Ryoko's surrounding area for any possible hints of danger. As she kept her
eyes open, Kiyone knew about Tory throughout her five years being with the
Galaxy Police.
Tory, an associate of the powerful Kagato Syndicate. She remembered reading
his file in criminal activities, he did nothing that involved murder just the
typical minor stuff like extortion, drug trafficking and fraud. As far as she
knew, Tory had been with the syndicate for ten years until recently. Three
days ago, Ryoko and Kiyone received a call from the galaxy police about
Tory's defection from the Terrell family. The GP hired both ladies to meet up
with Tory and escort him safely from the building where Ryoko stood to the
Galaxy Police Prime Headquarters which is only 5 miles away. A very peculiar
job, why in the galaxy would Tory only allow Ryoko and Kiyone to escort him to
GP instead of GP doing the escort? Oh well, It doesn't really matter, just as
long as it doesn't get too dangerous and for the simple fact that they'll get
paid.
Kiyone continued on with her surveillance and listened to the conversation
between Ryoko and Tory.
Tory smirked. "Say, by the way where's your partner?"
<Partner?> Ryoko thought. <How did he know Kiyone was here?>
"She's around here somewhere keeping an eye out."
"Oh. I see."
"Okay Tory, enough chit-chat. Why do you want us to escort you to the Galaxy
Police instead of letting them escort you directly?"
"W-wait a minute? Aren't you working for the Galaxy Police?"
Ryoko froze. "What do you mean?"
Tory noticed the uneasy look on Ryoko's face. "Well, Mitsuki told me that
she was sending out her two best officers to escort me to HQ and since I heard
you left the pirating business and had gone legit, I assumed that you were now
a cop for the GP."
"Mitsuki!?!" Both Kiyone and Ryoko shouted simultaneously.
"Yeah." Tory confirmed. "Mitsuki."
Ryoko released a hint of anger under her breath and immediately calmed herself
down before speaking. "Okay, first of all, I don't like working for the
Galaxy Police, Never had; Never will. I have no idea why that sycophant
Mitsuki hired me and my partner..."
As Ryoko tried to make the situation clearer, Kiyone saw through her
binoculars that a gang of six hover-cycles were cutting through traffic and
speeding towards Ryoko's vicinity. She zoomed her vision closer to see who
were riding the bikes, the riders looked very rugged and intimidating, they
were obvious hired killers of Kagato's Syndicate. Kiyone immediately placed
the binoculars aside and reached into her shoulder holster to get to her GP
laser pistol. Actually, her mother's Galaxy Police pistol, custom-graded and
handed to Kiyone when she graduated from the Galaxy Police Academy ten years
ago.
"Look, whatever, just as long as I get to the galaxy police headquarters
without getting killed." Tory said.
"And just as long as we get paid!" Ryoko added getting annoyed of Tory.
Then the radio in Ryoko's ear cracked, catching her immediate attention.
Ryoko pressed her left ear tighter to focus on the incoming transmission.
{Ryoko! This is Kiyone.}
"What's up? Found anything?" Ryoko responded.
"Who are you talking to?" Tory said, puzzled. "Oh! you're talking to your-"
"SHHH!" Ryoko snapped at the alien and refocused her attention back to
Kiyone. "Okay, what were you saying?"
{I said, you better get out of there quick! There's a whole gang of hover-
cycles headed your way.}
"Is there a way I can just teleport to GPHQ?"
(Hold on, let me take a look...)
Ryoko waited patiently as Tory looked at her questioningly. She shrugged in
response. A moment later the radio cracked.
(No, you can't teleport, one of the bikes are equipped with an anti-teleport
device. Looks like you're going have to get there the traditional way.)
"How long do I have before they get here?"
{Two minutes, at the most.}
"How many?"
{Six.}
"Okay, we're heading out. Good luck, Kiyone."
{You too, Ryoko. Signing out.} The radio cracked for the last time.
Ryoko quickly grabbed Tory's arm and pulled him.
"Hey!" Tory barked. "what do you think you're doing?!?"
"Shut up, if you want to live!" Ryoko ordered as she went towards her hover
cycle dragging Tory along. "Get on!"
The canine alien did as instructed.
"You know how to drive one of these things?" Tory asked.
Ryoko sat in behind the controls, putting on her helmet. "That's a silly
question. Sure I do, all the time! Why? Nervous?"
"Yeah, sort of." Tory admitted as he wrapped his arms around Ryoko's waist.
Ryoko ignited the engine and the cycle began hover. "Don't worry, we're the
best. You're in good hands as far as safety is concerned." Ryoko assured as
she revved the engine.
"I hope so."
"And we're off!!!" Ryoko exclaimed happily as she released the engine. With
a loud roar, the hover cycle blasts off towards their destination.
As soon as Kiyone saw Ryoko hopped onto her bike. Kiyone quickly ran over
towards the other side of her building's roof. She climbed over the edge of
the roof, looked down along the side of the 250-story building, she tied her
black-green hair back into a tail, straightened her orange head band and
jumped. This was one of favorite things to do in this line work. The feel of
rushing air and a sense of floating even though she's falling gave her a sense
of freedom mixed in with exhilaration. During her free fall along the side of
the skyscraper, Kiyone kept herself upright and legs closed together as she
dialed a couple of commands onto her computer wrist watch. Kiyone smiled as
she dropped through the air like a bullet and then, all of sudden, the
spaceship Ryo-ohki caught her with the teleport beam. Kiyone was inside the
control room of the cabbit spaceship.
"Ryo-ohki, bring up the location of Ryoko."
"Miya miya!" The ship complied happily as she brought up a green radar
screen showing Ryoko's red dot pursued by six white dots which indicated the
bikers.
"We better get over there quick before they get to her." Kiyone stated.
"Those hover cycles are GT 24 models, you think we can catch up to them in
atmospheric pursuit?"
"Miya miya miya!" The cabbit ship responded confidently.
"Let's hope so, too. For Ryoko's sake."
Meanwhile, nearly a mile and a half away, Ryoko sped towards GPHQ. Tory had
already spotted their pursuers. Ryoko felt his grip became tighter around her
waist which gave her the signal to something about it. In response to Tory's
tighter grip, Ryoko gave her bike more gas and the vehicle picked up more
speed, zooming through intersection after intersection without stopping at any
lights. Disrupting some major destruction in her wake, cars crashing into
each other, traffic lights getting damaged, neat rows of aerial intersection
getting ruined. All this chaos caused in hopes of throwing the bikers off
their tails.
"Are they still behind us?" Ryoko asked not looking back.
"Hold on..." Tory said, as he looked. "...yes. They're still behind us."
Ryoko gritted her teeth. "Great, it's obvious they're not amateurs."
Suddenly, small beams of laser fire wisked through the air passing by Ryoko's
bike. She can hear the loud roars of her pursuers' bikes closing in on her
from behind. A moment later, to her left, one of the bikers had managed to be
parallel. The biker was wearing a funky color mottled jacket, he was the same
species as Tory. The parallel rider began to sideswipe Ryoko. Ryoko
struggled to keep her bike level as the rider pulled away. As soon as the
rider pulled clear, he rammed into Ryoko's side again.
"Hey lady, mind your own business!" The biker demanded. "Give us the rat!"
"HERE! TAKE THIS INSTEAD!" Ryoko yelled back as she aimed her right hand at
the biker and shot a bolt of red energy; causing him to lose control and run
into a side of a building.
