Let me go back a little.

When WUE first started to appear, I read each episode as it came out.
But
at around episode 6 or 7 (I think), I ran into a period when I had very
little free time, so I simply saved the next couple of episodes away as
they
appeared, intending to read them later. And the next couple of
episodes
after that. And the next, and the ...

Oh, I know how this goes, indeed I do. ;)

Last Thursday, at the end of my Christmas vacation, I finally got
around to
it. There were 31 episodes by that time -- over 2MB of unread text.
It took
me two or three days ...

Hopefully with sleep punctuating them? ^_^

And now, at the end of it -- and with chapter 32 added as well -- all I
can
say is, damn! For its depth of story alone, this is the best fanfic
I've
ever read, bar none. The sheer poetry of the language puts it an order
of
magnitude higher again. You paint your story and your characters with
extraordinary vividness, and you make the words _sing_.

Thank you. Words like these from anyone, are a great compliment - from
a writer whose work I respect and enjoy as much as yours, Angus, it's an
even greater one.

There are relatively few professional writers who can do this kind of
job.
If you aren't already planning on a career of writing, may I suggest
you
consider it seriously?

Well, I'm hoping to make some money at it once I'm able to feed myself
through other means. Professional writing is not always profitable at
first, or even later. ;)

Hmm. Comments on the story itself? Hell, you obviously know exactly
where
you're going. I look forward to the conclusion. Not too soon, please.
A
ride this good is worth savouring.

Well, as events in the story indicate, the conclusion is approaching.
But there's a goodly amount of story left to go before it all ends.

Finally -- as I was reading, I repeatedly asked myself why I hadn't
gotten
around to this much earlier. I'd been missing so _much_ for so long!
But
now, in hindsight -- I think I did myself a favour. Getting all that,
fresh,
in one long hit was one powerful experience. I thought I'd come down
from
it, but chapter 32 brought it all back, in spades ...

You're not the first person I've heard from who has read so much of WUE
in a short time, with a similiar feeling at the end. Quite honestly, I
would think that is the best way to experience it - the series is not
composed of individual episodes so much as it is of one continuous and
developing storyline.

The unique format of fanfic and the FFML has allowed me to develop WUE
to some extent as a work in progress, but it was from the start (and
still is, for the most part) intended as a story with a clear beginning
and end.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

You're welcome. And thank you very much for the praise and comments.

Ciao,
-Alan Harnum
