Good news for you! In the response to all the positive feedback I've received
from my recent my recent EVA teaser, I've decided to write 'Redemption of Rei
Ayanami'! While it's still in early planning stages, I've got the basic plot
down pat.
Oh, and yes, to whet your appetite for this fic, I've included another teaser
segment for you to enjoy.

RED TAPE
A NERV personnel stepped past the desk, pausing for a moment to place a folder
on it. He didn't notice a piece of paper slip out of the folder into the
visible light. The word CONFIDENTIAL and TOP SECRET were marked all over it.
NAME: REI AYANAMI
IDENTIFICATION: FIRST CHILDREN, PILOT OF UNIT 00
AGE: CLASSIFIED
STATUS: MISSING, PRESUMED KIDNAPPED
MISSION ASSIGNMENT: RECOVER REI AYANAMI AT ALL COSTS
ORDER ISSUED BY: IKARI GENDO

RECALL
"Shinji-kun!" Rei gasped as her abductor dropped the boy to the floor,
unconscious. She quickly scrambled over to Gendo's son, checking his vitals.
To her relief, Shinji was still breathing, but for a moment there, she thought
he had...
"What is this I see? Why should you care about this pathetic weakling? Like
you, he didn't put much of a fight." The man stepped past Rei, pausing to give
her a cursory glance.
"Why are you doing this... Why?" Rei finally croaked.
He stopped and turned to face her slowly. For a long time he didn't reply, as
he observed the girl's reactions. He finally spoke, but there was no malice in
his voice, nor did he smile. "For you."
"I'm doing this for your sake."

TEST SUBJECT
Rei picked herself up carefully, gauging her opponent carefully. She knew that
she was at disadvantage- this man knew everything about her. Wait, not
everything. She was sure that this guy had never seen her fight in a hand-to-
hand combat before. She didn't think it was necessary before, but it looked
like she would have a chance to see how good she was.
He cocked his eyebrows, "Oh, so you want a piece of me? Go ahead and give it a
shot. I think it'll do you some good." He cackled lightly and let Rei approach
him. To be honest, he had been caught off-guard by Rei's unexpected demeanor.
He didn't expect to get under her skin that easily. Did the boy Shinji mean
that much to her?
He never saw Rei's fist.
The foreigner grabbed his jaw as he recoiled in surprise, staggering
backwards. Damn, that gal had good left hook. He reminded himself not to get
Rei too riled up until the time was right. He'd teach the gal a lesson later.
He shook his head to clear his thoughts and grinned at the girl, "You're
pretty good, aren't you? Well, I'll let this pass." He put his hands up in the
air to placate the girl. "Go to your precious Shinji, but you haven't proven
yourself yet- Remember that."

<fiddles with the volume> "Arg! I just had the blasted speakers fixed!"

DETECTION
"You want to live, kid?" The foreigner growled lightly as he made sure his
hand had clamped Shinji's mouth tightly, preventing him from screaming, or
alerting the authorities. The kid nodded, his eyes wide with fear. "Good, then
do what I say, and shut up. A peep from you and you won't see Rei ever again."
The boy's eyes widened and he nodded, "Yes, you want to see her, right? Then
be quiet and follow me!"
He removed his hand from Shinji's mouth, and let the kid trail behind him.
Silently, he cursed himself for making the decision to try and kidnap Shinji
inside Central Dogma, of all the places! He'd be lucky if he was able to drag
the kid and himself out of the place alive.
Muttering a prayer to whatever gods that were listening to him, he peeked
around the juncture to make sure the area was clear, and immediately ducked
back into the dark tunnel mere moments before automatic gunfire narrowly
decimated his head.
"DAMN! Spotted!"

TRACKER
"Send the units in!" Gendo barked into his walk-talkie, "I want the bastard!
Take him in alive! And if do not harm Rei in any way, or you'll answer to me!"
There was a brief cackle of static before the SWAT troops acknowledged his
command. He clicked off the handset as he muttered, "So I can kill him
myself."
He was furious with himself, for being so naive. He had never suspected that
someone would have nerve to kidnap Rei, of all the people! He had worked so
hard on her, becoming something akin to a parental figure to her. He had
managed to earn her trust, but this bastard had put everything at risk. Not
when he had managed this far! If Rei was hurt, he'd--
Gendo immediately ducked as thundering gunshots erupted. "NO!" Gendo screamed
as the SWAT members returned their fire.

Currently in preparation stages and coming to Fanfic Mailing Lists everywhere
in Summer of 1999! Illegal religious undertones removed, as well as
censorship! Shall we call for fan-service?
Contains violence, brief nudity, and mature situations. Parental guidance
suggested. ^_^

Again, I'm defiently going to write the fanfic. This teaser serves as a
confirmation of my project. This teaser is just a taste of what's coming. What
you have read is tentative. These scenes might be omitted in the final version
as I continue to draft out the story. But while I yet have to hammer out the
details of the fic, I assure that the final version should prove to be as
exciting and interesting as the teasers.
