The Tendos simply stared at the transformed Ranma in front of them.
Where, just a moment before, had sat a powerful, 'male, martial
artist, now sat a beautiful, red headed woman.
I knew it. Hes a pervert. Akane muttered. Nabiki stared at
the man of her dreams, who had just become a player in a nightmare.
Kasumi had only a little pout of a frown to show her disappointment.
Meantime, Soun began a fresh wave of tears. Ranma sighed. He had
suspected that would be their reaction. <Well, might as well get it
over in one fell swoop.> He thought. Ranma grabbed his backpack, and
pulled out what looked like a crystal ashtray. He set it down in the
middle of the table.
Theres something else that you ought to be aware of. He said.
You see, I went on what you might call . . . a training voyage, that
had some rather interesting consequences. Ranma said.
You mean, besides your curse? Nabiki murmured. Ranma simply
nodded.
{Holoalbum, play back final recording, and engage Japanese
translation algorithms.} Before anyone could ask what he had just
said, an inverted cone of light appeared over the holoalbum. Within the
cone, images appeared. Images, crystal clear ones, of Ranma, and
another figure. A man, with spiky black hair, dressed in an orange gi.
I didnt think that anyone on Earth could make holograms that
realistic. Nabiki said.
I didnt get this on Earth, at least not 'this Earth. Ranma
answered her unspoken question.
The two figures bowed to each other, and then leaped into the air. They
began to throw punches and kicks with a speed that defied description.
Everyone, except Ranma, was widemouthed in awe. Not just at the obvious
skill, but also at the fact that they were still fighting, suspended in
midair.
Ive never seen anyone able to do that. Soun muttered. I
always thought the legends of martial artists able to fly were just
that, legends.
Not really. Goku, that guy Im training with there, is the
greatest fighter Ive ever met. He could do almost anything; fly,
teleport, move objects with his ki, blow away mountains, you name it, he
could do it. <Not to mention the fact that hes the most skilled and
powerful fighter in that universe.> Ranma thought to himself. He
taught me Kamesennin, and Kaiohken style martial arts.
[Turtle school, and the Fist of King Kai style martial arts?]
Genma signed. [Never heard of them.]
Not surprising, considering the only practitioners of those arts
live in another dimension. Ranma said.
I dont care what anyone says, or how good he is, Im not marrying
this pervert. Akane yelled. Ranma just looked at her.
Ok. He said, and turned back to the hologram image in front of
him. Akane couldnt believe it, a guy wasnt interested in her. She
didnt know whether to be insulted or elated. A frown crossed her face.
<He has to be lying!> She thought to herself. <He just wants me to
lower my guard.> Since she had every guy in the entire school chase
after her for the past year, she had gotten a little paranoid about guys
wanting to do anything to date her. Kunos declaration that only
someone who could defeat her in battle could date her was one of the
primary causes. Akane realized that anyone who could beat her in a fair
fight could do anything that he wanted to her. She glared at Ranma, who
continued to ignore her, instead studying her sisters.
Mr. Tendo, since your youngest daughter would prefer not to be
engaged to me, and I would rather not get married to a stranger, why
dont we forget about the marriage. At least until such time as your
daughters and I get to know each other well enough. Then, whichever of
your elder daughters agrees to marry me, will become my wife.
Mr. Tendo, who had finally stopped crying, for the moment, looked
thoughtful.
Well, that sounds fair . . . He muttered. Nabiki was studying
the holoalbum with an eye to marketing it, somehow. <I wonder if Ranma
has anything else like that in his pack? If he does, I could make a
'lot of money!> She thought to herself. <And he is cute, though I
could do without the curse.>
Its agreed then. Genma said. Ranma and I will stay here, and
Ranma will get to know his fiancees. Then, after a while, hell choose
which one he wants to be his wife . . .
And the two schools will be joined! Soun cried. Genma just
grinned. Ranma turned to his . . . her father.
Pops, speaking of wives, wheres my Mother? Genma paled.

        *                      *                          *

Ranma stared out of the window of the room the Tendos had given him
and his father. <Figures that Pops would pull something like that!
Imagine, signing a contract that would mean that if I dont live up to
my mothers conditions of manhood, the two of us would kill ourselves!>
Ranma thought to himself. <Then again, after all Ive gone through, I
dont think any sword on Earth could kill me like that. The worst she
could do is scratch me.> He shook his head. <Therell be time to
figure this out later. Now I need to scout out the competition.>
Ranma walked over to his backpack, and pulled out a strange device with
an eye piece. He fitted it on his head, and pressed a few buttons on
the side.
Okay, have the scouter perform a planet wide power-level scan . .
. Hmm. This is interesting. Only four people on the planet have
anything close to my power level, and except for one of those, theyre
all in the same general area, over in China. In fact, near Jusenkyo!
What 'is it about that place? Ranma muttered to himself. If
that thing wasnt the only cure for itself, I would blow the place into
the next dimension! And with that said, Ranma put away the scouter,
and went to sleep.
     The next day.
     School? Ranma said.
Well, we 'are going to be staying a while. Genma answered his
son.
Its the same school me and Akane go to. Why dont you come with
me? Nabiki said. She was dressed in the light blue and white
Furinkan high school uniform. Ranma shrugged.
Sure, why not? Ranma said, and went to put on some different
clothing.
While he was in the hallway, he saw Kasumi with his dirty clothing.
Oh Ranma, she said. I was hoping I would run into you. I
wanted to know if there is anything special I should or shouldnt do
while cleaning your clothing?
Ranma shook his head. No. The clothing is of a special synthetic
which repels blood, dirt, oils, etc. It also resists wear and tear
pretty well, so you dont have to worry about it. For a second, Kasumi
almost seemed disappointed at this information. Ranma met Nabiki just
outside of the Tendo home. Ranma noticed that Akane was standing with
Nabiki.
Well, shall we? He said. The trio started down the road, toward
the school. Akane attempted to ignore Ranma, and talked only to her
sister, while Ranma kept striking up conversations with Nabiki. Nabiki
found Ranma to be a very good conversationalist, and began to think that
the engagement wouldnt be that bad.
When they reached the school, Ranma was startled to see a mob of
young men rushing toward them.
Hey! Akane Tendos here. The mob rushed at them. Akane
growled and ran toward the crowd. Ranma began to move to help her, but
stopped when Nabiki put a restraining hand on his shoulder.
Dont bother, Akane goes through these guys pretty quickly. Its
the next dummy thatll take a bit. We better get inside before the
bell. Ranma nodded and watched as Akane plowed through the crowd of
boys in short order. In a matter of minutes, Akane was standing in the
midst of unconscious bodies, and broken sports equipment.
Honestly, every day. She muttered, throwing her long hair over
her shoulder. What a drag.
Truly, such a boorish lot. A new figure said, as he stepped away
from the doors to the school. He was dressed in a kendoists uniform,
carrying a bokken.
Each of them thinks himself skilled enough to defeat thee, and
claim the right to woo your heart. He said, sniffing a rose.
Oh. Upperclassman Kuno. Good morning. Akane said, in a bored
voice.
And now, Kuno said, tossing the rose at Akane. Suddenly, a blur
shot between them, grabbing the rose, and sending Kuno into a nearby
wall. Kuno pulled himself up, looking around to find out what had hit
him. Standing where Kuno had been just a moment before, was Ranma,
holding the rose.
Youve got be more careful, Akane. If this guy had tried to use
this thing to poison you, you would have been wide open. He said,
tossing the rose to the ground. Akane glared at him.
This is my fight, I can handle it. She said, defiantly. Ranma
shook his head.
I believe you. However, the two of you are close enough in power
levels that a fight between you would be one dependent on pure skill,
and concentration, something you need more of. He retorted.
You, you are being most familiar with Akane Tendo! Who are you?
Ah but it is custom to give ones 'own name first! Fine then! Mine
shall I give! He cried
My name is Upperclassman Kuno. Junior group E. Captain of the
kendo club. Undefeated new star of the high school fencing world. But
my peers, what few of them there are, call me . . . the Blue Thunder of
Furinkan High! At that moment, a crack of thunder roared over the
area.
'Blue Thunder? Thats a new one. Nabiki said as she moved to
get into the school.
Im Ranma Saotome, and Im a house guest at the Tendo Dojo.
Ranma said. Those people who were watching, winced as they could easily
predict the reaction that would get from Kuno. They were not
disappointed.
WHAT! Kuno yelled, and slashed at Ranma with his bokken. Ranma
easily evaded the blow.
Hmm, I wouldnt have thought that such a weak fighter like you
could have pulled off a technique like that. Ranma said, looking at
the hole he cut into the concrete.
Kuno swung at Ranma again, but this time, Ranma merely caught the
blow in his hand, and held on. Kuno tried to pull the bokken out of his
hand, but it was like the thing was caught in cement. Everyone just
stared at the pair of them.
Mr. Kuno, if you ever attack Ms. Tendo, or myself again, Im going
to take your toy away. Ranma let go of the weapon. Now get. He
turned to Nabiki, and presented his arm. Shall we go? Nabiki took
the offered arm, and the two walked into the school, leaving Kuno in his
place. Seconds later the heavens opened and rain poured on the Blue
Thunder.
     In class . . .
Humph. So the wretch is 'your creature? Kuno said.
Actually, it could be Kasumi 'or me, it depends on which one of
us he chooses. Nabiki said, as she looked away from her Vogue
magazine.
It is obvious that he has no taste if he would choose such as you
over your beauteous sister.
     Whatever. Nabiki growled.
A few days later, in the Amazon Village . . .
{You called for me, Great-grandmother?} Xian pu asked. Khu Lon
looked up from the postcard in her hand.
{Yes, we will be going to Japan to see if we can find you a
husband.} She said. Whether it was the hypnosis or the terror, the
cowardly fool had fulfilled her commands to the letter. Now to see if
his claims of having a strong warrior for a son were true.
{And may the gods help him if he lied.} She muttered to herself
as she prepared.

took forever. Well, Im working on 'everything and its just taking a
while.
