Those comments killed my meager little ego. All I'm saying
is please be nice with your C&C. You can't all expect for us to be perfect
writers. People join this ML to become better; shooting down their dreams
isn't a good way to do that.

Not having seen the C&C that so discouraged you, I cannot say if that person
was being constructive or not. I would like to say that if we were perfect
writers, we wouldn't be putting our work on the FFML, we would be getting
paid by publishers for what we write. The FFML, as I understand it, is a
gathering place for people to discuss and share experiences, which includes
stories and C&C, about anime.

A person posts their story expecting that people will find mistakes.
Personally, I am happy when I get detailed C&C that includes a huge list of
mistakes and blunders that I've made. Not only does it give me a chance to
correct them and learn from them, but it gives me pride that someone has
really dug into my work and paid attention to what I said. I would much
rather have someone tear my work apart in a way that tells me what I did
wrong than to get a message from someone that says "Great stuff. When can I
see more?"

Again, I don't know what this person said, or how constructive he was. If
he got personal and flamed you a bit, shrug it off. That is not the kind of
information you need to grow as a writer, and dwelling on it will not
improve your writing skills. The sooner you can put flame bait behind you
and move on, the better a writer you can become. If the message was
constructive and merely had a large number of corrections, you should
rejoice. You have a list of things you can improve on, which is infinitely
better than guessing.

What it all comes down to is that you shouldn't let words that someone sent
you get you upset. The purpose of sharing stories here is so we can have
fun and learn from our mistakes. Anything else is a waste of precious time.
