Thou shouldst make an effort to attend Anime Fest this year. All of the
good points of Fanime Con, and none of the bad! The Masquerade was a
smallish affair last year, with only a handful of contestants in a room
which was plenty big enough for everyone. The convention itself was four
days long (over Labor Day weekend) so that one could see and do
*everything*! All we need are a large group of FFML otaku to host a
fanfic panel now ^_-
Funny you should mention that... I've just been placed in charge of
this year's AnimeFEST! fanfic panel and first ever fanfiction contest.
^_^
Details are a bit rough right now (AnimeFEST! runs September 3rd through
the 6th, and this is... March), but Robert Jenks (Chairman of AnimeFEST)
and I have been discussing the possibility of holding a fanfic panel
twice during the 4-day con so that more people can attend.
We are also organizing a fanfiction contenst, complete with prize money
up to $300 (possibly more). Details on submission rules, categories,
deadlines, etc. will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. (Rule #1 so
far: Since I'm in charge, I can't enter. :p Ah well...)
AnimeFEST! is going to be my FIRST CON and *dang* I'm excited! I hope
to see a lot of you there. I've been dying to meet fellow FFMLers face
to face for what seems like forever now.
Anyway, more details on the panel and the contest are forthcoming. ^_^

Krista
