Look, I'd like to say a couple of things:

First of all, Gary's right:  Hitomi is not in Japan - or at least, she
wasn't a few months ago.  She was born and raised in Canada.  I happen
to know this for a fact, although I'm not at liberty to discuss how I
know.  I also know she's not of Asian ancestry.

Hitomi withdrew from the list a couple of years ago when these facts
were revealed.  This caused her some personal embarrassment because
she had made several forceful declarations about the nature of
Japanese culture based on her assertion that she herself was Japanese.
Several people were also were quite upset at her because of this.

Now, that having been said:  what difference does it make?

How Hitomi presents herself is irrelevant to the fics she writes -
which are excellent - or the commentary she chooses to give.  If
anyone gives you a factual assertion, make sure to take it with a
grain of salt - I know I almost always double-check things myself.  I
extensively rewrote "Interview" when my premise was quite faulty and
people wrote to me to point out exactly how it was.  I did a bit more
research (which I really should have done in the first place), found
out that everyone was right and I was wrong, then went back and
rewrote much of the story.

The FFML exists to judge the writing, not the writers.

In my opinion.
