while waiting for the cleaning fumes to air out, i
check the archives and see Richard's come up with
an idea!  (one of the people i scan the archives
for.) i had thought about this before, but i do
_not_ want to go there, though it makes a
seductive kind of sense.

Ranma learned everything from his dad Genma.
Including how we express affection, kindness, etc.
No friends or anything else like that growing up,
and you get the impression he didn't spend huge
amounts of time in school just from his reaction
to being told he was going to school in the second
episode.

how did his father show affection to Ranma?
Training him (in  flashback scenes we see this is
a combination of beating on him and insulting
him), demeaning him, and bullying him.
         in other words, exactly how Akane treats
him.

         and since child abuse tends to be
hereditary, you have a perfect motivation for
Nabiki or Kasumi to be pulling strings behind the
scenes trying to keep those two apart.  it's a
definite fic, but too dark and psychological for
me to adequately handle.  (i know my limits,
roughly.)


why do they call em scrubbing bubbles when they
just sit there?
