Will everyone just please stop all this? I'm so sick of all this bickering.
I'm sorry if my hasty comments brought a small C&C matter into an
all out war. By the time I send my 3 replies to Krista, Reid and Gary,
everyone was having a battle royale.

This was exactly the thing that I had hoped to avoid. It seems that
I inadvertantly triggered that which I feared the most.

*sigh* Well, hopefully you now know better.

And while I do admire and appreciate your good intentions, it is my
opinion (ie. my personal feelings *only*) that your Warm and Fuzzy "All
Fanfics are TRUE" point of view is only going to stir up exactly what
you see on the list right now every single time you mention it. Because
there are obviously quite a few posting people who don't feel that way.

I have to say that your reply to my reply ticked me off a great deal
when I first read it, because it was apparent to me that you completely
missed the point of my post.

I was giving legitemate C&C. For you to tell me that I should accept
all fanfics with open arms and a loving heart/open mind/whatever made me
and, apparently, a heck of a lot of other people *really* angry. In
fact, I took a day off from the list just so that I could cool down
enough to be civil to you in replying.

Fanfics *aren't* the people who wrote them. When I give C&C, I might be
harsh in my criticism, but I am *not* attacking or flaming the author,
nor am I claiming that anyone else is obligated to feel the same way.

While I strongly believe that it is my duty and priveledge to be
tolerant of all human beings, I am *NOT* required to be tolerant of all
fanfics. I will *NOT* be happy if I read a story that I feel needs
either serious improvement or just needs to be killed, period. As
Stephen King once said, "If it doesn't work, kill it." I coudn't agree
more. And it is my right as a C&Cer to speak my mind on the subject
without having someone preaching to me about a Kalidescope World, or
other such nonsense that has *NOTHING* to do with fanfiction. Human
beings, maybe. Fanfiction, NO. I am quite free to pick and choose
which fanfics I like, and which ones I don't like, as well as voice my
reasons for my opinions on this mailing list, thank you very much.

Anyway, in spite of this, I do hope that we have *all* learned something
from this. Maybe we can avoid more crap like these stupid canon wars
for at least another year, once this blows over.

My final words on the subject. I will not be responding to any more
posts, public or private, on this matter.

Krista
