Interesting. I like this as a beginning, even though I'm not sure where
you're going to go with it. Nice portrayal of Kuno so far, and the use of
the time increments is quite clever.
Formatting seems a little funny, but I assume this is intentional. Anyway,
it's too early to see where this is going to go, but I'll be interested to
see where you're taking it.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. Your work, Waters Under Earth,
is a favorite of mine and it honors me to think that my meager scribbles have
somehow warranted the attention of its esteemed author. As far as part 1 of
Islands Underwater goes, I was at first very hesitant to even attempt making
this part of a series.
As you may have already guessed the time increments and
stream-of-consciousness style formatting of part 1 was, for all intents and
purposes, a gimick. In writing, gimicks can be somewhat self-defeating in that
it becomes very hard for subsequent prose to match the impact of the initial
hook. Bottom line here is - I may have bitten of more than I can chew, however
I shall endeavor to deliver something at least passably interesting.
As in your work, Waters Under Earth, several people have explored the idea
of Kuno as having some kind of method in his madness. What I'm hoping to
explore however is the madness in his methods. Kuno-baby's got some serious
issues and it should be a fun ride figuring them out. Besides, anyone who
quotes Shakespeare, no matter how badly, has got to be totally cool.
Thank you for your comments.
