That's a very good question. Ranma needs the curse to maintain the wish.
With it, the curse would be lifted, but without it he can't be uncursed.
A true paradox.

Anything could happen, including the timeline being split to generate a
male Ranma and a Ranma-genie together. Then, there would be no problems
with maintaining the wish...

Or there could be a limitation about changing the past.
