< Lots and lots of stuff >

In order for Shampoo to be happy:
Akane: gives up her choice of husband, and friendship with Ranma.
Kasumi: gives up her choice of husband, has to raise her son alone, and
lie about his heritage, and suffer a bad reputation.
Nabiki: Has to go along with Kasumi's lie.
Kurumi: Has to go along with Kasumi's lie.
Silk: Has to go along with Kasumi's lie, and sacrifice her daughter to
the family promise.
Souun: has to give up his choice of son-in-law, and wait decades for a
chhance to restore his family's honor.
Akira: Has to grow up without his father, and suffer the effects of his
mom's reputation.
Kiri: May well have to give up her choice of husband.

All in all, Shampoo owes the Tendou family a *huge* karmic debt, after
sharing their bread and salt...
And she seems to have forgotten the lessons she'd theoretically
learned from the Perfume affair.

Hi Scott!

>From one point of view, that might all very well be true, and good
arguments can be made in support of it. But first off, it really doesn't
matter. Check out Ranma's and Shampoo's conversation with Death again.
If Shampoo really wasn't able to turn her back on all that stuff, she
wouldn't be around anyway.

Also, as I see it, there are some counterarguments to most of the points
you've raised:

While Akane may have chosen Ranma, Ranma chose Shampoo. No loss of Karma
there (and I'm sure there are plenty of couples out there who'll also
politely, but firmly disagree with you on this point). In fact, if you'll
remember correctly, Shampoo tried to take a hike after Nodoka, and it was
Ranma who stopped her.

Kasumi chose to not let anyone know, precisely *because* if Shampoo knew
about the origins of his kid (which she doesn't), she might marry Kasumi
instead, and Kasumi didn't want to have Shampoo if it was in a loveless
marrage. Is there a debt there? Perhaps, perhaps not. Again, it depends
on who you ask.

Nabiki doesn't have to go along with Kasumi's lie. In fact, she tries to
get Shampoo to acknowledge Akira as her son here, and tries to get Kasumi
to acknowledge sleeping with Shampoo. She's been doing this for some
time, not just in the recent timeframe of the epilouges.

Kurumi might be keeping the secret, but that's for Kasumi's sake, and not
Shampoo's. Remember, she hasn't even met Shampoo when she agrees. So,
Karmic deby to her is contingent upon whether you believe that Shampoo
owes Kasumi a Karmic debt. (If and only if condition)

Soun might have to give up his choice of Son-in-law, but who said it was
his choice, anyway? Genma might, but it was Ranma himself who 'dissuaded'
him.

Kiri might have to give up her choice of husband, but same with Akane (at
least, initially) if Shampoo had not been around. Shampoo is responsible
for shifting the onus, but certainly not placing it (that particular honor
would belong to Soun, Genma).

Anyway, that's my take on these points.

-Natsume Ranma Ranma

The sardines weren't worth the trouble. A few more shots, then
Ryoga-san would overheat and explode. Ducking around a corner,
I managed to lose him as I entered the ramshackle residence of
my Anime supplier.

One look at his face and I knew that I was betrayed. "Tell me."
I insisted. He refused, so I slammed him against the wall.
"Last chance. Where can Ranma-Ranma find good fanfics?"
"Try Jason Liao." he whispered, before he slumped to the floor.
I heard the sounds of a door splintering as I left through the
window, one step ahead of Tendo Heavy Industries...
