Well, I wouldn't be responding to this, but one (possibly two) of my own
fanfics were mentioned, so...

The number one reason for this apparent lack of innovation: Ranma,
Ranma, and more Ranma. It seems like only a few months ago, there were
all
kinds of new avenues being explored. A wave of Kenshin fics, a Boku no
Marie
fic (and the start of another), a Tylor fic from David Tatum (that was
thankfully never finished, if it's to be as dark as it looks), FF7,
You're
Under Arrest, Patlabor ... all kinds of new possibilities. Add to this
some
interesting new directions in the traditional non-Ranma sources, namely
Sailor Moon, Eva, Tenchi, and BGC, and you get a lot of good variety when
you're tired reading about Akane malleting Ranma.

Well, first of all, I should say that the Tylor fanfic, Tylor's Fury
(chapter 1- and a brief explanation of why I haven't done much else on it
or other fanfics- available on my web page) while not finished, IS going to
be completed (and shouldn't be that dark, though there will be plenty of
spots where it could GO dark), as is my Patlabor fanfic... and any other
fanfics I've started...

Now, about there being 'too much Ranma fanfiction.' This comes up every
few months, and quite frankly it's wrong. I've done a lot of Ranma
fanfics, and every one generates plenty of c&c. Why? Well, I don't know
what -I- do that other people don't, other than make sure my grammar is
readable and my spelling is generally correct. I also try to post several
chapters of longer Ranma fanfics rapidly, especially in series, so that
people don't lose interest and think it's been abandoned at chapter 1.
This hasn't been the case recently- I've been rather busy with various
personal things, so I haven't been able to write quite as quickly as I used
to, and I'm working on too many things at once.

Well, anyway, I'm getting off the topic at hand. In the past two days,
I've noticed El Hazard, Sailor Moon, 'CG Lan' (which is part of a series
I'm totally unfamiliar with), Kenshin, Pokemon, FY, NukuNuku, Cutey Honey,
Mermaid Saga, and several crossover fanfictions... many times more than
I've seen of Ranma fanfiction (not of any one, but all together), lately,
at least on the FFML...

So why IS there less C&C? I don't really know. I personally haven't
noticed it, myself... but, well, I can list what I think are the things
that show what gets fanfics c&c are. The better written fanfics-
regardless of cliche- are the ones most commented on (as Girl Days proves).
After that... well, if your grammar is ATROCIOUS and unreadible (and there
have been a few to come through this past couple of weeks... but I won't
name names here) you MIGHT get c&c telling you how crappy it is, but most
likely you won't get anything useful. Obviously, quality isn't the ONLY
reason c&c has slowed down... perhaps some of it DOES have to do with
volume, but, well, as I've shown, there isn't just Ranma fanfiction out
there- blaming it on Ranma fanfiction is a bit, well, ridiculous. I mean,
there are plenty of people on here to read nothing BUT Ranma fanfiction, I
expect- I don't read much other than Ranma or RK fanfics myself (not
because of not wanting to read anything else, but because the series I WANT
to have fanfics written in aren't written in much- Patlabor, Tylor,
Bastard!!, and non-crossover AMG).

Anyway, I've babbled on enough... all I really wanted to say was Tylor's
Fury wasn't discontinued- and WILL be finished- but I guess I had more to
say after all.
