Well, since a lot of the people here also put up stuff on their web
pages which IS theirs, I don think its applicable to the members of this
list who do use these services..if it isn't, I'm sure Tybalt will soon tell
us..!!
Now while this doesn't affect me, I would like to add a couple of points.
(1) Did Yahoo et al inform by mail (or similar) of this contract change? If
not, it is null and void (clauses stating that they can change things
without informing you won't stand up in court, unless they can show it was
necessary for operation of the business - not the case here!) they cannot
change usage terms to grab material without informing you. Also, they cannot
make such a change retrospective.
(2) If they did so inform, and you don't want to be bound by this, you
should write to them telling them so, and remove your material. No, they
cannot stop you from doing so. They could probably remove your site, as you
then would not be agreeing to their conditions of use, so backup first! :)
However if they _did_ inform you, they can use anything you put up after as
theirs.

And doesn't this have absolutely nothing to do with fanfics, or
anything
else tossed around on this forum?
more likely to end up being some anti-establishment thread.
Many people keep their fanfic or fanart or other creations on
Geocities.
I am sure they would appreciate knowing that everything they've
created
has already been appropriated, so they can deal with it.
Given that fanart and fanfiction both are produced in violation of
the original copyright on the source material, it'd be pretty
goddamned stupid of a corporation, with lawyers to warn of such
things, to attempt to use it for their own commercial purposes.
Let's not post propaganda spam to the FFML, okay? It has no place
here.
