The Convergence Project

Chapter 3- A Reluctant Ally.

DISCLAIMER: Virtually every character that has or will appear in this story
is not mine. I claim no credit to them and wish no harm. Please don't sue.
Sailor Moon is the creation of Naoko Takauchi. Crono, Marle, Lucca, and
all other Chrono Trigger Cast Members are the property of Square.
O.K. I think that's all, On with the show.

"You're saying that I have to troop around fighting monsters
in...in...THAT!" Marle demanded looking at the Sailor Armor that the other
Scouts wore. Marle may have dressed like a tomboy but she most definitely
would not wear that. "It's disgusting!" She protested.

"What's wrong with the uniforms?" Luna asked. "They provide you with the
protection you need."

"Listen Cat I refuse to wear something like that. It leaves absolutely
nothing to the imagination. It's revolting." Marle argued.

"My name is Luna not cat. You will address me as such." Luna said harshly.

"I will address you however I please." Marle began.

"Where exactly do you come from? This isn't nearly as bad as most of today's
fashions."Mina said as she gestured to the body-tight armor.

"Guardia around 1000 AD" Marle replied.

"What's a Guardia?" Serina asked confused. "I can't believe I studied
Geography for an hour and don't know where Guardia is."

"That's because Guardia doesn't exist here, Serena."Magus replied. "We come
from what you would call an alternate time-line."

"Prove it." Ami said.

"All right then. Marle comes from 1000 AD Did you have fridge's back then?"
Magus said.

"No." Ami replied as she thought it over.

"Marle tell them what a fridge is." Magus ordered.

"I will NOT where that!" Marle shouted.

"Marle just tell them."

"It keeps food cold by using a motor to absorb heat." Marle replied.

"O.K, and Lucca, where do all of the taxes on your house go?"

"King Guardia, of course."

"That doesn't prove a thing." Said Raye.

"Marle, you remember Fritz, right? What kind of goods did he sell?"

"I remember he had weapons, some armour, and in the back I thought I saw
several large pigs and some chees wheels. Why?"

"Still not enough." Raye said.

"Come to think of it, I think I remember seeing a blacksmiths' shop outside
too. He was making something. One of the pigs got too close and was burned
when it stuck its head into the water right after the guy dunked in some
kind of axe," Marle said as the details began to come back. " The general
stopped by a little later and apologized to Fritz and gave him some coins."
Marle said suddenly remembering the event. It was rare for a general to leave
the barraks. " I don't really think Fritz minded, but the pig sure seemed
to."

"It's a little sketchy but I'm going to say it's the truth." Ami responded
dubiously. "It's to rediculous to be a lie."

"Come on then." Serena said, "If Ami says you're telling the truth, then
it's good enough for me. I'll show you to the place where we meet, and then
we'll have to get you someplace to stay."

"You wear that all day?" Marle said stunned.

"Oops. No." Serena made a gesture and she and the other Scouts powered down.
"This is how I normally dress."

Marle followed reluctantly. Lucca leaned over and whispered "Crono will go
WILD when he sees you in one of their costumes." She teased.

"Shut up!" Marle said irritated.

Marle looked over the small team of girls who defended Earth from attacks of
evil monsters. They most definitely didn't look the part.

Serena was a giddy, very excitable person. Her hair was tied up in a
ridiculous fashion, making Marle think of the meatballs her father had a lot
at home. The meatballs were attached to hair that was far longer than
Marel's. Serena also had a tendency to trip, Marle noticed. Three separate
times on the way back from the park. Marle felt a penetrating gaze from
across the circle. She turned to face it.

To Marle, Raye was a confusing enigma. She didn't seem to like her very
much, but Marle could not figure out why. She'd tossed and turned every idea
that she could come up with. Nothing had resulted. The raven-haired
priestess was far too complicated for Marle to get.

Then there was the boy crazy Lita. At first Marle had thought she would try
and go after Crono, but she realized that Lita would not move in where she
was not welcome. Lita was a head taller than Marle, right on par with Magus.
She had a decidedly rough nature to her, but Marle thought the brown-haired
warrior to be a good person.

Mina was the next person Marle observed. She seemed shy, but with a definite
opinion that she expressed only when necessary. She had an energy and
fierceness to her that would have rivaled Lita's. Mina had hair of the same
blonde as Serina, but wore it loose except for a bow used to tie her hair
away from her eyes.

The calmest of the bunch was Ami. The quiet, small, person who didn't talk
unless the situation required it. She was almost as confusing as Raye,
except hers came from a lack of information. Marle thought that Ami was
probably the smartest of the group. They always deferred to her when they
needed ideas.

"Well then I guess I'd better be on my way." Marle said as she stood.

"Not yet. You need a communicator and Power Stick before you leave." Serena
said. "Luna give it to her."

"All right Serena, I'll trust you." Luna flipped over backward producing the
needed items.

"I thought I told you I won't be using them." Marle tossed them back to
Serena. "I'll keep your secret but I won't run around half-naked for fun."
She firmly turned her back.

"Take them anyway. No one else can use them. It's your choice." Serena said
placing them back into Marle's hand.

"I won't use them." Marle said stubbornly. She pocketed the Stick and put on
the Communicator. She then stomped out of the shrine.

"That didn't work so well did it?" Lucca said when she saw her friend
approach. She'd been asked to leave Marle in private with the Sailors. Lucca
had respected her friends' wishes and gone property browsing with Crono.

"Let's go home." Marle said sounding exhausted.

"O.K. Crono is already on the way there." Lucca replied.

The two continued on to the spot where they had first arrived. The sound of
metal grating on metal reached their ears. Crono came flying over the
hilltop and into his female companions.

"You three don't look so tough." A humanoid said as it bounded after Crono.
" The boy was no problem and you two won't be either." It jumped at them.
Lucca screamed as the monster limbs transmogrified into spear like weapons
that began cutting at her. Lucca rolled away.

"Flare!" She shouted. The fire attack bounced harmlessly off of the monster.
"Uh this is a problem."She panicked.

"Ice Crush! (Ice2)" Marle rose into the air and slammed the chunk of ice
into the monster. It bounced away doing no damage.

Crono stood and jumped towards the thing. His sword came down with a mighty
shing and sliced into the creature. The wound healed instantly. The monster
knocked Crono back. The boy fell to the ground, out like a light.

"CRONO!" Marle shouted in terror. "Why you...!"

"What do you plan to do about it?" With contempt the creature blasted Lucca.
She to fell. "Hmm?" It snarled. It moved slowly closer, its eyes glowing
with a hunger.

Now what? Marle thought to herself. She looked at Crono and Lucca. All fears
of propriety melted away. "I'll tell you what. I'll do this!" She reached
behind her almost unconsciously. As if she were in a dream she raised the
Power Stick into the air and called out "Neptune Star Power!"

A wave of cold swept in. Light was drawn into waves around Marle as she rose
into the air. The cold froze the beams into her white body armor. The light
coalesd onto an aqua ribbon over her chest, a small emerald set into the
center. It formed into a teal mini skirt, which waved in the sweeping chill.
Knee high boots of the same color followed, along with a tiara set with an
aquamarine. It was all over in a manner of seconds.

The new power flowed through Marle. It's raw energy surged as she felt her
magic power double, no triple. "All right then." Marle skipped over the
customary speech. "Prepare to die." She gripped tightly onto the magic.

"One lone Sailor Scout? Easily defeated." The monster lunged.

"Neptune Ice Lash, Entrap!" Marle shot a beam of mystical ice energy, nailed
into the monster causing it to freeze up. She tapped onto her communicator.
" Listen all I need help." She shouted into it.

"We're coming." Serina's voice replied.

The creature broke free with a growl. "That was a mistake, girl." The
creature jumped into an attack.

"Moon Healing, Activation!" The lunar attack slammed into the creature. It
turned into dust before it reached Marle.

"Good to see you, Sailor Neptune." Luna greeted her.

Marle collapsed to the ground, sobbing on the way.
