Then it struck me how silly the whole thing was. Was "Kunzite"
really any more likely a name for someone born 1,000 years ago (or
in the case of my timeline, 20,000 years) than "Adamite"? Many of
the minerals on the list I was looking at had only been named in the
last couple of centuries anyway.
Just to make things interesting here, "Kunzite" was discovered in the
early 20th Century by a geologist named Kunz. His intention was to name
the beryl-family mineral after his patron, J. Pierpoint Morgan, and call
it "Morganite," but couldn't reach the millionaire for permission, and
so called it "Kunzite" instead.
