HI,
1)well, it's not so much the hunting restrictions in
Japan is that there's no dangerous game. Not in the
sense of Africa or even the America's. There's also
not much of a 'hunting' tradition in Japan. A better
choice for Japan (IMO) is an ultra-nationalist. There
are lots of those running around. And there IS a
Samurai tradition of 'testing' swords on the bodies of
criminals. Instead of a 'hunt' you could combine a
sword test with racial purification. The racial purity
can involve ANY of the cast. Right (and left) wing
extremists are NOT logical. They could easily go after
any of the Ranma cast for NON-Japanese thinking. An
example of this in real life is exemplified by:
Eigo Zukai or the dangers of speaking English.
"In the mid-1950's in the Shibuya Ward of Tokyo, a
young Japanese man was killed by an ax-blow to the
head because he was overheard speaking English. His
assailant, another young Japanese man, told police
that he was so incensed by the arrogance and
un-Japanese-like behavior of the victim that he killed
him in a blind rage."
NTC's Dictionary of Japan's Cultural Code Words
Boye Lafayette De Mente
P. 87
This xenophobia is alive and well and, IMO, a better
rational for a hunt' for a Japanese business man.
2)I'd pick a Chinese or Korean business man. Esp.
Korean. They have money, land and they HATE the
Japanese.
3)Why pick just one cast member. Why not an entire
group on a 'field' trip or 'vacation'. Then you could
examine how each one copes with the 'hunt'.
4)Extending the time limit OR making the win a
physical objective (capture the 'flag' or crossing a
boundry) allows you to develop the story if you want a
longer feature.
I'd actually thought of something similar involving a
Tai slavers. However I'm trying to write a comedy so
haven't developed it. I'll be glad to help/pre-read if
you wish. Sounds like an interesting idea.
Good luck.

Sorry to bother everyone, I'll keep it
brief.
This idea goes along the lines of The Most
Dangerous Game, the
author escapes me. An immensely wealthy Japanese
industrialist is rather fed
up with the regulations on hunting imposed by the
Japanese government.
He owns an island off the western coast of
South America, where he
can hunt to his heart's content. However, he is
bored with hunting the local
wildlife, none of them can give him a truly
satisfying hunt.
He finally started to hunt the most cunning
of God's creatures; man.
He would bring in promsing quarry from all over
Japan, guaranteeing them
riches, not to mention their freedom and lives, if
they can survive 24
hours. Nobody has yet managed to do it.
Said industrialist is always on the lookout
for new prey, and turns
his gaze to Nerima.
He abducts one of the Ranma cast (not
necessarily Ranma, and not
necessarily a martial artist), and makes the deal
once on the island.
Afterward, the hunt is on...
I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions
about this. Thanks for
listening.
Jed
