Why do you write fanfics anyway?
Two reasons:
1) I'm planning on becoming a professional author (working
on first submission now) and I'm using fanfic to improve my
skill at characterization, prose writing, plotting,
drama/comedy/action and dialogue. It's fairly simple and
easy to do and I get C&C out of it on occasion. Plus I
believe that no matter what you write, as long as you
continue to actual write your writing will improve. Now I
just need to work on my deadline meeting skills...
2) Sometimes I come up with a concept that simple will not
work unless I base it off a popular anime/manga series. This
includes parody pieces (like the upcoming Ran Wars Episode
!: The Fandom Menace) but also involves other concepts that
would be just too much hassle to try and bother writing into
a non-fanfic storyline.
