I just noticed that Ranma's name isn't mentioned until the last paragraph
of this little spamfic.

That's a mystery I had not intended, but could probally be made to work,
if Ranma's part was written more in character, rather than simply flatly
laying out the plot as a narrator.

I can see directions this could be pulled out into a "real fanfic", but I
personally don't see the point in a story that shows how Akane changes
because she cannot change.

Hmmm.... Kasumi is taken away by whatever did their mom.  (It has to be
long and painful, simply compare Soun before and after, t'cha?)

Nabiki withdraws even more than before, vanishing at some point without a
word.

Ryouga is tempted to exploit Akane's catness to drive Ranma away from her
but then signs onto the mission and finally turns away from Akane to avoid
any further temptation.

Akane has to grow to fill the void left by her missing sisters to support
her fragile father and she knows the thing he most wants to see is a
grandchild and she (and Ranma) try at this and fail and fail and fail.

Ukyou tries to take Akane's place on the basis of this, is rejected and
comes to loathe herself.

And Akane is left in an ever shrinking circle at the end only Ranma
remains and he's mortal.

That's turning out rather dark.  Perhaps it's best I'm not writing, but I
still wanna do "Please Save My Phantom Menace", someday after the two
sources have been almost forgotten.
