Observing the time streem would seem to be incredibly boring. Were
one not to understand that the big pool of threads was more than that,
whatching it flow and occasionally ripple would be about as interesting
as watching a brook. It might be restful but it wouldn't need full time
attention. Pun intended. It really was fairly unimpressive when seen
through mundane eyes.
Seen as one with magical sight, it was anything but boring. Each
string of life shifted colors in a web of interchanging lights. The
green of personal tragedy mixed with blue of hope, red of peace, and
white of love. In the Time Stream, if one knew how to look, one could
see the whole of life, and the depth of existence. The colors played
with each other in what were almost games at times. And in the end, all
life moved on.
Prince Diamond was not having that good of a day. One of his trusted,
well as trusted as things got here, servants had tried to backstab him
and sieze the throne for himself. That would simply not do, so Diamond
had been forced to have him executed. Then there was the whole trio of
Mystic Death Ninjas business. Nothing drained one's energy like having
to repel lethal assailants. All in all, by the time Diamond was
preparing for a late afternoon rest, we was ready for a little
amusement.
"Milord, I've got an idea." Diamond looked up. Yet another
insignicifant toady was currying for favor.
"What is it you want?" Diamond had two choices here. He could
annihilate the toady because he had nothing better to do, listen to him
blather on about his "plan of Doom" forever, or just listen to him. 'OK,
three choices.' He corrected himself. He didn't really have the energy
to do the first two and could always annihilate this fool later. Burning
might be nice. Or evisceration. Hmmm.
The toady outlined his plan. It was phenominally simple and quite
amusing really. It had no chance of actually suceeding but it would
provide entertainment.
"Very well. You go do it." Diamond admited he assumed the peon would
get himself killed trying and that itself might be funny. Eh, what are
peons for otherwise?
The peon himself, unknowing he was doing nothing more than a great
joke, went about asking for favors and trying to build support. It took
him a while but eventualy he sent himself through time.
Pluto looked up. It was a traveller. He moved quickly. His power
level was also so low he could barely be detected.
"Some other genius figuring out time travel and on a joy ride. Oh
boy." Pluto knew that within a hop or two he'd crash himself on some
weird little subdimension and disappear. She'd have to stop by, pick him
up, send him home, and repare the time flow. It was really repetative
and how she spent most of her time. Sure everyone thought she was
preparing for the next great calamity. She had prepared for that one
three calamities ago and was currently two calamities in the black.
The traveler crashed in some forgotten possible future which was
already fading into not and roamed around for a while. Then he retreated
into the Stream and went back from whence he came. Pluto looked forward
through time's time a few hour days and looked around.
"Hmf. Treasure Hunter. Another One-Shot-Wonder." If the Senshi knew
she spent a large chunk of her time muttering to herself, it would ruin
her image. Pluto watched a while longer. After all, she'd been watching
for the last infinty or so. Old age doesn't really affect someone who
lives out side of time in time cubed.
Once back in Nemisis, Sodium worked in his room. He had gotten all
the information on the Senshi he could find and was busy giving it to
his master plan. Then he provided all the further informaion needed and
requested. He was informed intrun that all was ready. He slipped off to
find Diamond.
When he returned a half hor later, his heart was heavy. Diamond had
completely ingored him. Abruptly Sodium's eyes lit up. It was suposed to
be a secret! Yes, that must be it. He redoubled his efforts and was
ready by the time he was ready for bed. He would put it in motion first
thing when he woke up.
As he slept, the figure paged slowly through a mass of text. The
figure was tall, strong, and male. It also had the patience of ages.
The Time Stream didn't even ripple as the traveler moved through it.
It had not just little magical aptitude, it had no magical aptitude.
Pluto, watching for the next idiot traveller, missed this one
completely.
"Milord Diamond. The Plan is in motion." Sodium whispered to his
lord.
"What? Oh, it's you. It's in motion? Good. Let's go watch." Diamond
allowed Sodium to lead him to the great scrying glass and there he
summoned a few servants. He bade them sit and watch the "Plan For The
Senshi's Doom."
"And to make it interesting, if it fails, we'll burn Sodium at the
stake after torturing him on the rack." Diamond added after Sodium had
explained himself. Everyone laughed. Everyone except Sodium that is.
Sodium paled and looked for a place to hide. But the die was cast and
now he was committed. Oh, boy.
Deep in an alley in Tokyo, three street punks found a naked figure.
It hadn't been there three seconds earlier, but they didn't know that.
They circled it as it rose. It was definately a man.
"Whot we got here?" The leader said.
"Looks like a pervert to me." Another laughed.
"Roight." Another cut in.
The figure just looked at the three of them. "Give me your clothes,
your money, and your weapons."
Five minutes later a single man walked from the alley. He was
dressed, had 2000 yen in his pocket, and was carrying a knife. In the
alley behind him three broken men lay, beaten to death. He walked until
he found a payphone several miles from the bodies. He flipped through
the pages until he found what he wanted. The police would be able to
assist him. They would at least have information on its targets. Things
were about to get interesting in Tokyo.
