Konnichi-wa! <bows> ^_^ Well this is my debut on the
FFML...and rather than simply dump a new, untried fanfic
series on you, I thought I'd post this teaser of an idea
I got reading Richard Lawson's crossover ideas on his site
(and his work is top-notch, too!)...I hope you like it!
If you do, and you want me to do a full series on this
concept, let me know!

So this was it. Ranma set down his duffel and
looked around the island. Finally, after all the
nonsense with that nuts scientist that lead to the
time slip, after the culture shock, the bouts of
depression and all the misadventures, he'd found a
place to belong. The small water taxi pulled away
and sped off, and Ranma looked at the house, the only
structure on the island.

The front door opened. Ranma had to contain his shock.
He'd seen weird things before, but a turtle answering the
door was not one of them.

"Can I help you?" the turtle asked him in a very calm voice.
Talking usually wasn't in a turtle's repertoire, either.

"Um...yes. I'm looking for a Master Roshi. I'm Ranma
Saotome."

"Ah, yes, Ranma. Master Roshi has been expecting you."

"Hey, Turtle!" came an old man's voice. "Who is it?"

"It's the young man Ranma, Master Roshi!"

An old man walked out of the door, stood behind the turtle,
and appraised Ranma. He wore dark glasses and one of his
bushy white eyebrows was raised as if he was weighing the
value of something he wanted to buy. One hand stroked his
long white beard and moustache.

"So you're Ranma," the old man said. "Tell me...where have
you studied?"

"I am a student of 'Anything Goes' Martial Arts school,
sensei."

"Ahhh, yes, I have heard of that school. A very fine one.
Well, if you wanna stay here, you have to earn your keep.
You'll have to train with me, look after the house, and what
ever else I can think of. Clear?"

While Ranma was gratified that this old man had heard of his
school, the thought of doing household chores again left a bad
taste in his mouth. Especially since this guy had no idea of
Ranma's secret. However, better here than trying to get an
apartment in the already-overcrowed cities. So Ranma swallowed
his pride and bowed.

"Hai, sensei. Perfectly clear."

"Great! Now, it's time to prove yourself."

Ranma's head snapped up. While he never backed down from a challenge,
Master Roshi's assisstant Bulma had said nothing on the phone
about having to prove his skills. He had no idea what people in
this time were like as far as fighting was concerned. But now was
as good a time as any to find out. He allowed himself a self-
confident smirk and dropped into a defensive stance. Master Roshi
nodded his approval.

"Hey! Son!"

Ranma looked up and a tall man with wild hair stepped out of the
Kame House. He wore an orange gi adorned with a couple symbols,
a small one on his breast and a large one on his back. The
boots, under-vest and sweatbands he wore looked, to Ranma at least,
weighted. The man had a pleasant smile and sparkling eyes.

"Ramna Saotome, this is Son Goku, my best student."

They bowed to each other, then there was a very loud rumbling noise.

"What the hell...?!?"

"Oh, sorry," said Goku, looking a little sheepish. "I haven't eaten
all day and my stomach's just now letting me know. Mind if I have
a bite to eat before we start?"

"Well, I did want to find out right away what Ranma's abilities
are like..." said Master Roshi.

"Why not ask Gohan?" Goku suggested. "Chi-chi's had him cooped up
all day with homework, he'd love to get out and play!"

Play? Homework? Ranma's head swam with images of childhood and
school. Master Roshi nodded to Goku, who bowed again to Ranma
and ran inside. A minute later, a very short boy walked out,
also dressed in an orange gi and looking very chipper.

"Hiya, Master Roshi!" he said cheerfully. "And you must be Ranma!
Jeepers, you're tall."

"Thanks," said Ranma, smiling in spite of himself. He turned to
Master Roshi. "So I gotta fight a baby, huh?"

"BABY?!?" shouted Gohan, looking completely enraged now. He put
his hands on his hips and produced one of the best pouts Master
Roshi had ever seen from Goku's boy. "I'll have you know I'm
seven and a half years old! I'm no baby!"

"Well, prove it to the new guy," leered Master Roshi. Gohan
grinned and looked at Ranma.

"Ready?"

Ranma nodded.

Gohan couldn't stop grinning. He'd just learned it the other day
and was eager to try it out. Ranma dropped into his defensive
stance again, but didn't understand why Gohan was just standing
there, seemingly just getting more and more pissed. Then Ranma
felt it: Gohan was building up Chi, an incredible amount for one
so small.

As Gohan formed his hands into a ball, Ranma began to wonder what
in blazes he'd gotten himself into this time.

"Ka-me....ha-me..."

Now I know this crossover seems far-fetched, but I think it'd work.
Ranma and the DBZ warriors would be a good compliment to each other.
And Master Roshi, being the dirty old man that he is, would find
Ranma's curse fascinating. Also, consider that with training,
Ranma could be the only woman to whup Vegita's ass. If I turned
this into a series, I'd set it just after the Freeza saga, before
Vegita is supposed to get together with Bulma...

Oh the ideas that this could spawn. -_^ Well, I can't wait to hear
what you all think! Until next time...
