For OAV continuity, there is no amorous stalemate, except perhaps
in Tenchi's mind.  As you cite, Aeka and Sasami are from a culture
which allows co-wives (the fanfic sort-of-convention that there's
a Jurai limit of two has no basis that I know of), and Youshou,

    Well, there is Aeka to consider, she'd have to accept that "monster" for
it to work. Ryouko's pretty much shown she'd go either way. More upset with
the idea of being left out, then of sharing.

Well, we only see the emperor having two wives, though that could just be
because the wives relevant to the situation came.  The semi-canonical '101
Tenchi Muyou Secrets' specifically said the Emperor had exactly two wives.
(It was a book released in Japan in conjunction with the OAVs)

    Semi... like a semi-tractor trailor barreling down on every fic writer
and Tenchi fan in known existence.

    Honestly though, 101 Secrets, is better used as a spring board for
idea's, as possibilities, not as gospel brought down from Mt. Washu to set
the cabbit's free. There are too many fans on both sides of the issue, each
with volumes of reasons why it is or isn't all Tsunami breathed and usefull
for teaching, instructing and rebuking false prophets of the tri-uned
Goddesses.

    Either as writer or fic critic, it's best not to assume knowledge of or
even acceptance of the Dead Sea Scrolls of the Flander's-verse. Most times,
it shouldn't matter one way or the other, but if your fic takes concepts
from this resource for granted, it might be best to note it to your readers.
Same as you might make note if your fic is based on Tenchi OAV, Tenchi TV,
Shin Tenchi, Pretty Sammy,  Harry Potter Tenchi, Tenchi on Ice, Tenchi Meets
The Cabbits of Watership Downs, Tenchi and Spam, Sasami Tenchi and Spam...
ahem, well, you get the idea.

    Course, if your fic focuses simply on the young man taking a long
neglected test drive on his auto erogenous zones... then, it might just not
matter... ahem, <read my fic> ^_^
