Chapter 2
Binary flowed across microprocessors. Threat categories were
re-evaluated and tactical plans were created, examined, and discarded,
at trillions of calculations per second. Full weapon specs were compared
to target files. An entire new plan of action was calculated.
Implementation would begin in .0000001 seconds.
The first part of the plan consisted of one line. "Get bigger guns."
The Senshi were in the temple Rei worked at. More specifically, the
room with the great fire. It wasn't that great right now, it was quietly
burning a few logs and waiting for the next reading.
The Senshi weren't looking that great either. They were all in their
civilian clothing, having changed out not too long ago. The magic in
their suits had mostly healed Usagi and Rei of their wounds. They each
still a little sore but otherwise fine.
"Why did we run away?" Usagi asked.
"We need a better plan of action." Ami answered. She had her computer
out and was referring to it. "When I did a scan of that thing, I found
some very interesting information."
"So whats up with that guy? How can we crush him?" Makoto was the most
annoyed by their retreat. She wasn't a Senshi to run away from monsters!
She wanted a rematch. And she wanted it now.
"Well, there are some conflicting pieces of information. He's alive,
but he has no life sign."
"So what does that mean?" Minako asked.
"I don't know!" This really frustrated Ami.
"Do our attacks work well against him?" Makoto again.
"They should but I don't know for sure." Ami replied, uncertainty in
her voice.
"Is it human? It looks that way and didn't use magic." Usagi was
worried. They weren't supposed to go after people. That was just wrong.
But if it was evil they could.
"It's not a person." Ami replied. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
"So whats the plan?" Rei spoke and everyone turned to Usagi.
"Um." Usagi didn't know. She ribs still hurt and her back did too.
"Maybe we should ambush him?" Minako asked.
"Yeah. Have one person alone draw him out and when he's in the open have
everyone else jump in." Matoko responded. One person would have to go
one on one for a few seconds and she had many frustrations needed to
work out. No one hurt her best friends and got away with it.
"No! He's too strong. You saw what he did when we were all together. I
won't let anyone risk themselves like that." Usagi wanted to slam that
line of speculation shut immediately. She not going to have any of her
friends do something that dangerous.
"What if we lured him somewhere and then we all jumped him together?
That way we could attack all at once and it wouldn't be as dangerous."
Minako replied.
"That might work. But how?" Rei couldn't see how they could ambush it.
"Ami, because it has such a weird reading, could you track it?" Makoto
asked.
"I don't know." Ami replied in her quiet voice.
"Would you try?" Usagi asked.
"Yes." Ami pulled out her computer again and began a scan. After a
minute she sighed. "Its not working. I could scan for it if we got
closer but since it could be anywhere in the city, I can't separate it."
"But if we could get it alone in a park?" Rei asked.
"Then yes. I could probably detect it." The blue hairdo girl replied.
After that the meeting continued for some time but nothing new was
decided. When they finally broke, after Rei commented they could use a
pile of food as bait because it would know anywhere there's that much
food, Usagi would be nearby, they returned to their houses and went to
bed. Usagi and Minako were helped home by Ami and Makoto respectively
because they were each still very sore and Minako had problems walking.
Ami said they should be fine by morning though.
It walked through the streets with direct and calculated steps. It had
acquired a storage facility and base of operations earlier at a run down
apartment complex. The injuries on its back were healing and it was time
to engage the first part of the plan. Heavy weapon acquirement.
Sodium was perched, as he always seemed to be now, on a chair observing
the Great Scrying Glass. The agent was doing nothing of import but he
wanted to be there when it made its move. Of course, currently its move
appeared to be walking through the downtown area with no apparent search
for the Senshi going on. This agent was capable and its plans were
effective, but Sodium could not understand what it was doing now. He
wondered if he should tell Diamond. It was doing something, he just
didn't know what.
Topaz and a dozen or so of the other nobles were clustered in a small
circle in the back of the room and were talking in hushed tones. Well,
their tones were usually hushed.
"He's become Diamond's favorite. We can't move against him now." Topaz
was stating. "His plan will fail, just like all the others, and then
Diamond will discard him."
"But he has power now! We need to do something!" Silver yelled.
"Shhhhh!" Came a dozen replies.
"What can we do? Nothing!" Amber replied.
"DIAMNOND! Prince Diamond!" Sodium ran off screaming. The agent was
doing something!
In his throne room Diamond heard the incoming idiot. He remained in
this throne and waited for his servant to enter. He did not wait long.
"Milord Prince! The agent! It's doing something!" Sodium exclaimed with
glee.
"What?"
"I haven't a clue!" Sodium continued in the same vein.
"Why am I not surprised?" Diamond muttered to himself.
He allowed himself to be lead to the Great Scrying Glass room and took
the seat sodium had been sitting on. Sodium himself sat on a chair he
pulled up to Diamond's right hand. There were close to fifty other
nobles that were in the room now, filling it to capacity.
The agent walked through the city. It was an hour after noon and he had
his destination clearly in focus. It stopped abruptly when he caught
sight of a representation of his targets. It focused it's scanners on
it.
"THE SENSHI! EARTH'S GREATEST HEROS! News and Information! Plushie
Toys! Full Naked Pics!" Proclaimed the billboard in bright, festive
lettering with pictures of the Senshi as a background.
'Mission necessity 8.7 through 10.3. Acquire fact on the Senshi. Target
location will provide.' It walked in.
"It went into a cheap porno and magazine store?" Diamond inquired of
his subservient.
"Uh, it must be part of the master plan." Sodium replied. He hadn't
expected this to occur. But what did it matter? So the agent swung that
way. It was still effective.
A snickering started in the back of the room and quickly encompassed
the whole room, with even Diamond joining in as it became an outright
laugh. Only Sodium remained quiet.
Someone in the back called out a claim for Sodium's tripes. Another
laughed and bet on Sodium being executed by next week. Sodium was
getting worried.
Abruptly the agent left the store and continued along it's original
way. Now the air was filled with jeers and catcalls in the Great Scrying
room as those assembled watched.
The agent saw its destination before it. It walked in through the front
doors.
The jeers were quieter now as everyone watched to see what the agent
would do next. It had just entered a new building, a very large one with
the writing "National Defense Force" across the front.
The agent walked in and approached the main desk. The secretary sitting
there looked up from her computer. "Can I help you?"

It responded. "Yes, I'm here on behalf of the Japanese Citizen's
Protection Movement. I wanted to check into your combat readiness. Who
should I speak too?"
The secretary looked at the torn up punker clothing and general
physical appearance. "Do you have an appointment?"
"No."
"Then you'll have to make one."
"How can I do that?"
"Call this woman and speak to her." The secretary handed the man one of
her boss's cards. Let her deal with this crazy gajin.
"It is very important that I speak to someone now."
"I'm sorry, I can't help you."
Option two success/fail rating: 99.8% fail. Option discarded.
Option one: Total Destruction. Preference rating: 9%.
Option two: Revise assault style. Preference rating: 78%

Option selection: two.
There was a short pause as the gajin appeared to be considering the
card. Then he looked up. "Thank you." And he walked out.
"Weirdo gajin." The secretary muttered to herself and resumed typing on
her computer.
Attack tactic selection: Flank.
The agent walked around to the back of the building. There were several
trucks, apparently making deliveries there.
Attack initiation: 3 sec.
The jibes abruptly stopped. The agent, with lethal efficiency, moved
through the building. Two security guards attacked it and then it was
better armed. The death toll rose at it began a standard search pattern
for the main armory. Shortly it found it.
The audience watched in deadly quiet. The nobles looked shocked and
several left to be noisily sick outside. Even Sodium was forced to turn
away from the viewing screen shortly. Only Diamond continued to view,
detached and analytically.
'It increased its armament and is currently acting to draw the Senshi
towards it. Interesting strategy.' Diamond continued to watch.
The agent walked through the deserted floor. Its files suggested that
the armory would be here, though heavily armored. It stopped shortly and
examined a wall map. It was carefully labeled "You are here." and had
the primary sections outlined. The agent chose one and began to proceed
towards it.
School was out for the day and Ami was studying. Actually, that wasn't
correct. She was doing school work though. Her school work just happened
to involve watching TV.
'You all need to get a better grasp of Current Affairs. I want you to
see politics in action. Everyone needs to watch the news tonight and
write about three things on there. They need to be about the government,
no sports stories.' Ami remembered. It was an unusual assignment but she
didn't see anything difficult about it. It had been a long time since
she watched TV though so she wasn't quite sure what channel to go to.

"Ami dear, why are you watching TV on a school night? Don't you have
work to do?" Ami's mother came in the front door and hung her coat on
the wall rack.
"Hi Mom! Actually, I have to write about the news. Why are you home so
early?"
"I'm not for long, I just needed to get something. I'll be working late
tonight dear."
"Oh." Ami sighed. Still, such things were to be expected and she was
hardly surprised.
"By the way, for the news, try channel 12." He mother spoke before
departing towards her room.
"Thank you mother." Ami clicked to channel 12 and sat down, pen, paper,
glass of water in hand.
"And now, this just in." The anchorman spoke quickly. "A terrorist
attack on the National Defense Force building is currently underway in
downtown Juuban. Apparently one or more terrorists are currently inside
the building. We have this clip." A square picture in the upper left
corner of the screen enlarged to cover the entire screen. It clearly
showed a tall, well built man in torn and burned punker clothing
callously blasting everyone in his way.
"Ami dear, could you help me for a second?" There was no answer. "Ami
dear?"
Mrs. Mizuno walked out of her room. Ami was nowhere to be seen. Her
supplies lay by the base of her chair. "Hmm. Oh well, it probably is a
girl thing." With that she returned to her room.
The Senshi assembled in record time. Ami never overreacted and if she
broadcasted an emergency, it was important.
"What is it?" Makoto asked. she was wearing her uniform as were all the
others.
"The man who tried to kill us yesterday is currently attacking people
in the NDF building downtown." Ami said. She already had her computer
out and was tuning into the channel 12 news network.
"The NDF building? They're the army! They'll take care of him." Venus
replied.
Instead of responding, Ami showed them her computer. She had enabled
the function which allowed it to receive TV broadcasts. A feature she
had always kept secret from Usagi for some reason.
"The Confirmed deathtoll is now 23. Police say as many as three times
that number may be still unconfirmed. There are over forty confirmed
injured."
There was no need for anyone to see anymore. They all looked at each
other for a second then nodded.
"Come on Sailors! Lets go beat the forces of Evil!" Usagi led the run
across the rooftops.
'Hmm. Now here come the Senshi. This is about to get interesting."
Diamond sat before the screen. His eyes were locked on the picture and
he watched with his face impassive.
Only seven people remained in the room. Himself and Sodium were two.
Topaz, though he looked green, also remained. Two of the others,
blithering idiot both, had apparently thrown their lot in with Sodium
and were sitting with him, though they both had their eyes clenched
shut. Leaning against a far wall were Onyx and Iridium. Both were
watching the screen with detached looks.
On the screen, the agent had apparently just found the armory and was
equipping himself. He was apparently unaware of the incoming guests.
The Senshi landed on the roof of the building. They had made the run in
record time and were now bracing themselves before they went in.
Below them, the police and surviving NDF members had pulled back. They
had established a perimeter in a circle around the building and were
waiting for the assailant to make the next move.
"Mercury, you said if we got close enough, you might be able to detect
him. Can you do that now?" Mars asked.
There was a short pause as Mercury opened her computer and told it what
to scan for. Then she looked up, a smile on her face. "I've got it!"
"Alright, let's go!" Moon led the way as they went down through a
skylight. One might ask, why wouldn't Mercury, being the only one would
could tell where it is lead the way? Don't ask some questions.
The agent finished readying itself and turned. In the doorway stood
targets one through five.
Option one: Attack. Preference 99.9%
Option two through three. negligible preference rating
Option selection: One
"I am Pretty waii!" Sailor Moon screamed and hit the deck. The other
Senshi followed suit as a barrage of 7.62 mm bullets passed though the
space they had been occupying earlier.
This wasn't FAIR! She ALWAYS got to finish her speech! Sailor Moon
would have sworn had she known any of the words. She rolled to her left
as a trail of gunfire tracked across the space she had previously been
occupying. She leapt to her feet and then leapt for safety as more
firepower attempted to perform a regicide.
Sailor Mars, seeing their fearless leader was in trouble jumped to her
feet herself. She decided to use her newest, most powerful attack.
"Mars-

"Bird!" The agent spun and brought its assault rifle to bear. It was
too late. The incoming fire bird hit it and knocked it down. Jupiter
launched her own lightning attack which caught it while it was trying to
rise. Again it was blasted backwards.
While lying down the agent grabbed a grenade from its bandoleer and
pulled the pin with its thumb. It sent the grenade sailing towards it's
opponents.
While having never seen a grenade in person before, the Senshi decided
that anything coming from this guy towards them was bad news. They
scattered.
The explosion was the rest of the proof they needed to tell them that
had been the wisest course of action. After a moment, Venus looked up.
Coming straight out of the smoke was him. She began her attack
instantly. "Crescent Beam-"
The agent pivoted and fired. The multitude of projectiles caught Venus
straight in the chest bow. She screamed as she was propelled backwards
down the hall. The agent then turned to face Jupiter who had just stood
up, face red with fury. She never even began her attack before having to
leap sideways to avoid incoming fire.
Mars leapt toward Venus. Her finely honed danger sense went off, a
combination of a multitude of minuscule factors. The chief being the
attacker turning and bringing a large rifle to bear on her.
She hit the deck as a series of bullet holes appeared on the wall
behind her. That was the good part. The wall behind her contained the
majority of the building's electrical system. That was the bad part.
Lightning flashed everywhere as the major power conduits flashed with
the power. Jupiter, almost immune to lightning while powered up, ran to
Venus's side and lifted her.
Moon yelled something which could barely be heard over the din of
gunfire and electrical crackling, but Jupiter heard enough to get the
gist. It was time to fall back. Not far but enough to get out of this
death trap.
Electrical waves playing over its skin and around it's weapons, the
agent walked forward. To the right, target four was fleeing with target
five. To the right, target two was already gone down a side corridor and
target three and one were running away directly ahead of it. It fired
the last of a magazine at targets four and five but they were already
gone, fleeing up a stairway.
Damage assessment: Insignificant.
Combat assessment: 12% effective
Cause assessment: Firepower not powerful enough
Option assessment: AP ammunition.
Reloading as it walked, the agent followed targets one and three.
Diamond was staring in shock at the screen. He was always amazed at the
shear cold blooded effectiveness with which the agent operated.
Unnoticed to his right, Sodium was doing the
"I'm-going-to-be-second-in-command-and-be-really-powerful-and-everyone-is-going-to-pay-homage-to-me-and-I'll-be-happy-and-etc
etc" dance. His two newly acquired flunkies were doing the
"I'm-a-flunky-of-the-guy-who-" dance and were also unnoticed by Diamond.
He turned to Topaz. "Interesting eh?
"Verily Milord. The Agent seems to be a shoo in for victory." Topaz
commented simply.
"True. True. Power will be mine, Topaz. Crystal Tokyo will be mine."
Diamond gloated.
"Yes Milord."
Against the rear wall, a much different line of conversation was going
on.
"Onyx, we need to tell Pluto about this. If this works, that blithering
idiot will be Diamond's most favored servant and things will get a whole
lot worse on the Black Moon."
"You're right Iridium. But how will we get Pluto to believe us? We are
loyal servants of the Prince after all."
"Leave that to me. Follow." And Iridium and Onyx left the room,
unobserved by all.
Notes
Gee. Another chapter and another fight scene. What are the odds?
One may ask several questions. Like "What kind of crack are you
smoking?" The reeeaaally good kind.
No. I do not hate the Senshi. I just find this amusing. Don't take it
too seriously. Yet.
Shadows Without Light 3 is almost ready to post. There's only one thing
left to do. Please have patience.
You can find the first two parts of Sw/oL at

has kindly volunteered to post them.
Ciao people.
