Huh? Not to be rude but what gave you that Idea?
Since Shan Pu is clan-sister to Tendou's, are they also any closer in
'clan'??
If so couldn't the fact they are 'adopted' into the village, and inferredly
her, could she not take up the engagement if she wished??
I should have made myself clearer on this. The Tendo's were absorbed into the
Joketsuzoku by default, but they form thier own family with Kasumi as it's head
(clan afilliation means little more in practice than blood relation does in
most small towns BTW). Shan Pu _considers_ them sisters, but has yet to
formalize relations with them (translation, she lies when it's convinient)..
Then again, maybe she'd be willing to swear formal oath-sisterhood to get him
(thanks to Mu Tse, her romantic prospects are almost as dismal bac hom as they
were in TOM)?
Why can't Kasumi persue Tofu? She is Matriarch of Tendou, yes. Why tho
should that hinder her?? It's not like Western traditional where the wife's
goals are sublimated by her husbands (i said *traditional*, not modern or
correct--just every views Kasumi always as traditional)
Main point: Kasumi refuses to trap either of her sisters in an unwanted
marriage so she will marry Ranma herself if neither of them take a shine to him
within a year or so. Moreover she's still Japanese enough in outlook to look
askance at polyandry/concubinage so having them both ain't in the cards
By all rights also, Akane raised by Soun used martial arts more as exercise
and stress relief...being raised by Amazons might not appreceably increase
her skill level--she might still slack off.
Akane also held a great deal of pride in her status as a Martial Artist (that's
a major reason her relationship with Ranma is so rocky IMO). Getting her nose
rubbed into the dirt by the village girls, and especially by some condecnding
little thing like Shan Pu at an early stage would drive her into a serious
rivalry... which in turn motivates Shan Pu to Not Slack Off... which in turn
gets Akane to seek instruction in the Advanced Techniques... which <ascending
spiral of Mad Skilz Aquisition snipped>
Therefore Ranma should still be able to beat them easily
(individually), albiet lose if they 'gang up on him'.
(I still think he caught 'Poo napping)

Amazons probably wouldn't gang up on a 'lowly male'. To do so would
indicate inferiority...
Joketsuzoku warriors are prideful to the point of arrogance as well as mildly
sexist, but they are neither stupid nor impractical.

since they are the peak of Magery, and well..could beat
anyone and would unbalance it.
That's more a title indicating talent in and skill at commanding High Magic
than an an actual assessment of power levels. Nabiki is not focused on the
Mystic Arts for their own sake (if she were, she _would_ be Freakishly
Powerful) but has sought to learn enough to be useful to her. Nabiki wouldn't,
for example, try to battle Saffron directly for any reason whatsoever (if given
time and motivation she'd probably torture the command codes out of some high
PLA official and order a nuclear strike on his location).
If Kasumi is merely an Apprentice Healer,
by
all rights, Nabiki should also be merely a apprentice, or entry-level mage.
You may want to consider the possibility that Kasumi's just being humble ^_^.
