puts you at Sept. 9, 2000 - just about the same date as Second Impact,
maybe a bit before, and fitting right in with the time that Gendo left
Antarctica. Pretty decent story, overall. I try not to actively hate
Gendo in general, and it's nice to have a story that can actually view
him as a (more-or-less) normal person, instead of evil personified.
The blurb that ADV put on the back of the Genesis 0:1 box suggests
that all the Children were conceived at the moment of Second Impact,
but I don't know how canonical that is. The only person we know for
sure to be directly responsible for Second Impact is Misato's father. As
Ummmmm..... "directly responsible"? How do we know that he's directly
responsible? For all we know, he was on a support crew that had
absolutely nothing to do with the sequence of events that caused
Second Impact. Obviously, he wasn't too close to "ground zero" or he
never would've survived long enough to put Misato in that survival
pod... which means he was either supervising from a remote location
(if he was in a command role) or someplace other than where the
"action" was (if he wasn't directly involved).
