Prologue:
The pain, the unbearable pain. It has been going on for a while now. All I
can do now is to wait for it to be over. For how much longer it had lasted,
I don't know. I'm just flat on my back, waiting...and then a wail filled the
air, and I blacked out. When I woke, I realized the pain was gone. I was
startled by a voice, "Congratulations...it's a boy."
Chapter 1:Abandonment
He had no choice. It has to be done.
A short, young man carried a bundle in his arms. It was a baby boy. The
child had came unexpectantly, too unexpectantly. Eventhough the child looked
nothing like any of his parents, they both loved him very much and wanted to
keep the child, they can't. The child would never be able to survive with
them. He needed a safer place to grow up, so keeping him was out of the
question.
The young man had planned to leave the baby on a doorstep and hoped that the
family would be kind enough to claim the child for their own, but his lover
disagreed.
"You can't just leave him at any doorstep, not knowing what kind of
people they are and leaving the child without a name!!"
"Then what do you suggest?"
"Leave him at some orphanage that would take good care of him"
"And the name?"
After some thought, his lover replied,"Dou...meaning a couple or a pair..."
The youth arrived in front of a church with the sign ' The Maxwell Church
Orphanage'.
Perfect. It seemed safe enough. He went in.
"Hello, how may I help you?" asked the priest inside.
"Take care of the child for me. His name is Duo."
Father Maxwell looked down at the bundle that was thrust into his arms. The
child had light brown hair and violet eyes that was looking at him, almost
like he was deciding what he was looking at. "And his last name?" Father
Maxwell asked, but the young man was already gone. He looked back at the
baby that was gurgling happily in his arms, totally oblivious to what had
happened.
"Well, I guess you would have to go with the name of the church as well."
Father Maxwell chuckled as he watched Duo let out a huge yawn and fall asleep.
"Sister Maxwell," he bellowed, "come over and meet the newest member of our
family."
