Episode 1:
Yuki and the Crystal.
"At last, Shaoran-san! The magic is complete!" Clow Leed cackled. Wind
swirled around the duo, formless voices repeating chants. Shaoran Kei
shuddered in her black trenchcoat. "Leed-san, are you sure this is not
heresy? Magic is not something to be tampered with." Clow Leed stopped and
looked at his assisant, his green eyes darting left and right. "We have
worked for many years to accomplish this Kei-san."
Kei pulled her trenchcoat tighter against her body. The old man has gone
too far this time, she thought. Cards formed from thin air, intracate
designs seemed to be magically written on the backs, the front filling with
pictures of elementals and various other spirits.
As if to punish her for the misdeeds she was accomplice to, Kei's mind was
filled with visions of death and the suffering of millions who would fight
for this magic. She grew pale from the visions, knowing what letting this
madness continue would do. Kei grabbed Clow Leed's arm and begged him to
stop. The winds seemed to blow harder, drowning out her voice. Clow Leed
paid her no attention as the final few cards were being drawn. The old man
lost in his own accomplishment, his own power.
The lab returned to its dim light once the final card was drawn, Clow
Leed's eyes meeting with Kei's own blue eyes. "Shaoran-san, this is the
dawn of the new age. No longer will we be victims to these youma and
daimons! No longer will our lives be in the hands of those infernal Sailor
Senshi!" Kei backed away, despair growing in her heart. "Clow," she said
"End this now. Don't endanger the world. I've seen it. I'm sure the Senshi
of Time has seen it. The Senshi will be after you soon for this heresy.
Please, I beg you." Tears flowed from her eyes, her hands shaking
uncontrolably. Clow Leed said nothing.
"Hold it Clow Leed! We won't allow you to spread those cards throughout
the world!" a voice spoke from out of nowhere. Kei looked around
frantically for the source. Finally, she laid eyes on the fabled Outer
Senshi, army of the Moon Kingdom. Sailor Uranus kept a smug expression as
she leaped to the floor. "Show yourself! We know you're here." Uranus
shouted to the lab. Kei glanced over the lab and saw no one. "He..He was
here a second ago.." Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune kneeled beside Kei.
"Tell us where Clow Leed is." She shook her head. "I don't know. He was
here for the card creation and...the cards!" The last word left her mouth
as she ran to the table. "The cards! They're gone!" Kei fell to her knees
and sobbed. Uranus and Neptune gave each other a look and walked away.
"Clow Leed got away, didn't he?" Uranus and Neptune nodded. Sailor Pluto
sighed, muttering under her breath. "We don't have many chances to stop him
before the cards are released." The 3 Outer Senshi parted and Pluto was
left alone, to see what could be the fate of the known world.
Somewhere, Clow Leed was putting the finishing touches on a red book,
engraved with a beast on the cover and The Clow written as the title.
"Soon, the world will know who the greatest mage is." He muttered as he
sealed the lock on the book. "Very soon Serenity.."
The crystal city shimmered brightly. Neo-Queen Serenity and her husband,
Endymion, stood on a green hillside, overlooking their new city. "Its
beautiful Endy-chan." Serenity sighed. Endymion could only smile in
agreement. Crystal Tokyo was forming before the couple's eyes. Their
destiny was finally fulfilled after many long battles. As the sun lost to
the horizon, Neo-Queen Serenity paused and looked around. Something was
amiss. Something was still wrong. Endymion looked at his wife, worrying
for her safety.
"You have done well Neo-Queen Serenity. Its too bad it all has to end
here." The voice behind them said. Endymion and Serenity spun around to see
a cloaked figure. "Crystal Tokyo will never become a true reality. Prepare
yourself for hell!"
Endymion rushed forward, sword in hand, to slay the being who had
threatened his life. Before he could reach the cloaked figure, he was
thrown back onto the ground by a invisable force. "Fool. Do you think you
can stop me? I created the second most powerful magic in the world. It is
for this magic that I now command the heavens to seal Neo-Queen Serenity
forever!" The figure leveled a finger to Serenity. Clouds formed above
her. All light seemed to flow away from the scene. "You are mine!"
Serenity could only gasp as she felt her entire being sucked into a small
flower-like crystal. Endymion regained consciousness just as his wife
disappeared into the crystal. "Serenity! NO!" Endymion screamed. The Inner
Senshi teleported in and rushed the cloaked figure. In turn, a black
crystal impaled each. Endymion could only watch as his friends and family
were killed one by one. The last thing Endymion saw was a blinding light
protecting him from the crystal spike meant for him. The cloaked figure was
gone once Endymion regained sight.
Sailor Uranus and Neptune arrived a moment later. "Endymion-sama. What
happened?" Sailor Neptune asked, kneeling to help her king up. Endymion
shook his head sadly. "Someone took Serenity and killed the Inner Senshi.
They never had a chance." Uranus checked each of the girls' bodies, even
for a dim sign of life. "Whoever did this knew they were coming." Uranus
murmured. Sailor Pluto appeared beside Endymion. "It was Clow Leed,
Endymion-sama. He long planned the demise of the Senshi and Serenity
herself. We were unable to stop him from building to his full power."
Endymion stared at the ground, reality finally settling in. "Without my
wife, none of this will ever be. Without my wife, life will never go on
the way it was supposed to." Sailor Pluto shot a glance over. "No one
knows how life is supposed to go Endymion-sama. Serenity-sama would have
wanted us to continue to do our best." Uranus was comforting Neptune to the
side while, rain now pounding the ground and the group.
Endymion and the Outer Senshi were never heard from again. Some say they
moved underground, others say they were dead. Sailor Pluto continued to
stand watch over time and space, things forming during the short 10 year
span that would give the world hope once again. Michiru and Haruka
eventually married and spent their lives in peace, both inwardly praying
for something, anything to attack so they could return to their real lives.
Endymion never remarried, dying with his heart still beating for his one
true love.
{Touch the crystal} a formless voice said. Yuki looked at her blank
surroundings. Shadows filled the entire room. A crystal floated in the
middle of the room, pulsing a soft light. Yuki hesitated as she moved
towards the center of the room. {Touch it. It is your destiny Shaolan
Yuki.} The girl searched for the origin of the voice. Silence. Finally,
her hand reached the crystal. Arms made of shadows flew from every corner
of the room, grabbing Yuki's arms and legs.
Yuki sat up, sweat running down her brow. She ran her fingers through her
black hair and looked around. Everything was in its place. The posters on
the wall, the bed in its corner, its sheets on the floor. Sighing, Yuki got
up and changed into her school uniform. As she walked downstairs, the end
of her dream kept playing over and over in her mind. Her father, Touya, was
already in the kitchen, cooking the family's breakfast. Yuki calmly walked
in and sat down.
Her father said nothing to her during breakfast, or when she left. She
muttered under her breath as she put on the last of her rollerblading pads
and took off. Each movement brought her closer to place she hated every
single day, school. Since she could remember, Yuki had always hated school,
going only to get away from everything else. Passing by Tsukishiro Yukito,
her childhood crush and best friend, she gave him a slight smile. They had
tried a relationship only a few months ago but things didn't work out. She
loved him for his big loving green eyes and his comfort but he didn't see
her as a girlfriend.
Yuki skated into the gate just in time for the school bell to ring. "Ah.
Still passing glances to each other I see." A voice said. Yuki jumped and
looked over. The raven-haired girl only smiled, putting down her camcorder.
"Daidouji-chan. We were not passing glances. I told you before that.."
Yuki started. Daidouji smiled and nodded. "You're so cute when you're
flustered Yuki-chan."
Yuki couldn't help but crack a smile. Daidouji Tomoyo had been her only
female friend since the day she was born. "Tomoyo, we weren't. I wish we
were, but we aren't." Yuki sighed. Tomoyo could only hug her friend and
walk with her to their class. During the class, Yuki became lost in her
thoughts, her hand doodling. The teacher continued her lecture, passing
over Yuki every single time. Kinomoto-sensei had a quiet understanding with
her niece and let her be. The homeroom bell soon rang with Tomoyo making
her way to Yuki's seat. "Yuki-chan. Homeroom is over. Time to go."
Mechanically, Yuki grabbed her books and stood up. Tomoyo watched as Yuki
wordlessly left the class. Kinomoto-sensei put her paper down.
"Daidouji-san. Is something wrong with Shaoran-san?"
"Nothing out of the ordinary Kinomoto-sensei. She's still having trouble
with losing Tsukishiro-san."
Kinomoto-sensei nodded and went back to her paper. Tomoyo ran out, looking
for Yuki. She finally caught up to her at the crosswalk. "Yuki-chan. Your
aunt was asking about you." Yuki nodded. "Of course. Aunt Sakura can't
keep her nose out of family business."
Yuki crossed the road, inwardly regretting the harsh words she had said
about her aunt. She looked back after a few steps and didn't see Tomoyo
following her. Good, she thought, I didn't really feel like crying today.
Along the short walk to her house, Yuki placed all her thoughts on the dream
and what it meant.
Upon opening the door, Yuki was almost blinded by the glow inside her
house. It was almost like someone had turned all the lights on with
10000-watt bulbs. Shielding her eyes, Yuki called for anyone who could hear
her. {The crystal Yuki. Come closer.} A voice in her mind said. She
stopped and glanced at the basement door. The glow seemed strongest in the
basement. {Go in Yuki. Fulfill your destiny.}
She turned the knob and opened the door, checking for each step with her
foot. Once at the bottom, she found the source of the glow. A flower-like
crystal in the center of the basement. The shelves of books herding her
towards it. The closer she got, the more frightened she became. No, this
isn't real, her mind screamed. {Touch the crystal, Shaoran Yuki.}
The voice kept urging her to move closer, to touch the crystal. Slowly,
she reached forward, her fingertip on the edge of the crystal. Her heart
started beating a mile a second, her mind flooded with images. A strong
wind blew, knocking books off of the shelves. The entire room was bathed in
the white glow. A lone figure appeared before her in an elegant white
dress. Yuki could see the pain on the blonde woman's face. {Shaoran Yuki,
thank you. I'm sorry all this had to happen. My name is Neo-Queen
Serenity. I am in desperate need of your help. Please, help me. Set me
free.} Yuki gasped as she felt Serenity's hand brush against her cheek.
{You are my only hope Shaoran Yuki. Become Captor Moon. Save the world.}
Yuki had never felt so determined before. Her mind was racing with images
of a beautiful crystal city and its inhabitants. Raising her hand to the
sky, she said the words that would forever change her life. "Clow Power!
Make up!" Pink ribbons flowed around her, her clothes stripped away as new
ones formed around her. She felt her entire being become one with the
universe. Only a second later, the entire room was dark again. Yuki looked
at herself in a mirror. The sailor fuku and bow on the back seemed a bit
much to her. "Am I really supposed to wear this thing?" She asked thin air.
{Heh. Yes, Captor Moon. This is the uniform of the long dead Sailor Senshi.
They were my guardians and my best friends..} "The sailor senshi.." she
whispered to herself. Everyone knew the legends of the warriors of love and
justice. I'm one of them, she thought.
Yuki lowered her head in silence. So much responsibility, she thought, Can
I handle it? {Yes, Shaoran Yuki. You can handle anything if you put your
mind to it.} Yuki smiled softly at the serene voice in her head. Serenity
felt like the mother she never had, comforting and loving. Yuki relaxed her
mind, her senshi outfit replaced by her normal clothing. She walked up the
basement stairs, her worries floating away as she closed the door to the
basement. "Serenity-sama, how will I know what to do?" No answer. Yuki
stopped in the doorway to the kitchen. "Serenity-sama? Are you still
there?" she whispered; worry forming in her voice already. {I am sorry
Shaoran Yuki. My power is taxed the more I hold this mental connection to
you. To answer your question, you will know what to do when the time is
right.} Yuki visibly relaxed and sat down. The mental connection faded
into the depths of her mind, ready any time she might need it. She laid her
head down on the table and slept, the change into Captor Moon had drained
her.
She was awakened by a knock on the door. A quick glance outside determined
she'd slept the entire afternoon away. Opening the door, Tomoyo popped her
head in. "Yuki-Chan? Its me. Can I come in?" she yelled. "Sure
Tomoyo-Chan! I'm in the kitchen." Tomoyo closed the door behind her and
walked into the kitchen.
"Feeling any better Yuki-Chan?" She asked, smiling brightly.
"Yeah, I'm feeling a lot better. Neo-Queen Sere....."
Yuki stopped. "I..uh...Never mind. I'm feeling a lot better." Tomoyo
blinked, wondering what had gotten into her friend. "I'm glad you're
feeling better." She left the whole Neo-Queen thing alone, not wanting to
pry. Yuki dragged Tomoyo to her room, singing the entire way. I'm glad
Yuki's happy, Tomoyo thought, but this is so sudden. "Yuki-Chan. Did you
hear some good news?" Yuki stopped mid-verse and seemed to ponder the
question. "You could say that." She said, hugging her little orange stuffed
winged bear. Hours later, after Yuki's father was home, Tomoyo was headed
home. Yuki never told her exactly what had brought on the sudden change in
attitude.
A few feet from her house, a shadow appeared in front of her. "Did you
find her yet?" Tomoyo shook her head. "I cannot seem to find who Neo-Queen
Serenity has chosen. She must be hiding from us." Tomoyo said, dropping her
bag on the ground in frustration. The shadow only shrugged its shoulders.
"She will find us, young one. Captor Moon cannot be dormant forever."
Tomoyo continued staring at the shadow. As if summoned by another, the
shadow disappeared without any fanfare.
Yuki climbed into bed, a classical piece playing softly from her stereo.
"Its been a long day. I just wonder if I can ever tell Tomoyo about
Serenity-sama and my new responsibilities." She picked up a picture of her
mother, a beautiful woman, even at 17. "Mother, I'll make you proud of me.
I promise."
Yuki set the picture back on the shelf above her bed before quietly letting
sleep fall upon her.
Next episode: Yuki and the Youma.
Author's notes:
After letting the preview out to the ML and getting a couple of good
responses, I was inspired to finish this episode. If you were wondering
where the Card Captor and Sailor Moon things come in, don't worry. They'll
be popping up in various parts to move along the story. I hope to continue
this for quite some time, given good feedback and a lack of Writer's Block.
As usual, C&C is totally appreciated.
