I decided that I needed to clarify a few things concerning the Ranma/BattleTech  Fusion. This story will take place after the Battle of Tukkayid and before the refusal war between the Jade Falcons and the Wolves. This is to allow for the chance of Ranma being involved in the Invasion of the Clans. Love is not in the cards for Ranma for quite some time. Even though some respect his skill, that doesn�t mean they are ready to marry or even be friends with him. I have no plans to have Ranma fall for Shampoo. If he falls for anyone it will be Nabiki or Kasumi and that�s a big if.
    The reason the Maulers are so well armed is because of their miracle worker, Nabiki. She�s made deals that allowed for them to keep mechs captured in combat like the Thor Ranma was to use. Other times she�s made impossible bets with house nobles that she won.  Also her calendar �Merc Men� is selling reasonably well. However I will tone the Mechs down a bit.
      I made a mistake in my mech groupings. The Clan Strike force was composed of 60 mechs. Also the Inner Sphere force was using aero fighters provided by the amazons. The Clan commander had bid his fighters away for this fight and this put them in a very bad spot. During the battle the chain of command was wiped out down to Ranma (who is a Star captain) leaving him in charge. Ranma decides that losing this many mechwarriors and Mechs will do the clan no good. Under pretense of falling back to better ground Ranma has the remains of the group fall back to the drop ship. As Ranma heads for the drop ship he notices one of his people�s mechs limping badly. Seeing he will be overtaken Ranma covers the young mechwarrior long enough for him to get aboard then orders them to leave before the Aero fighters and LRMs can make their presence felt. Stranding him on the planet.
          Also, after being made aware that a Freeborn wouldn�t be allowed near a mech in the Jaguars I made a few changes to the back story. Ranma is a Trueborn. But he�s a very odd one. During the time he was raised in the Sibko he learned a lot from one the ex-mechwarriors in charge, Nadoka. She told him about the Clans duty to protect the inner sphere and how the crusaders had lost their way. She taught him how to think and fight with his hands and how think through a fight in a mech. It was her influence that made Ranma what he is today. He believes that good pilots should not be wasted in some futile grab for glory. Has been known to cover for badly damaged mechs because of this. After witnessing the brutality of his clan first hand he really starts to wonder if they are the noble warriors Kerensky envisioned or just technologically advanced barbarians.
This attitude does not go over well in his clan.
       All though a great pilot he is passed over for promotion time and again. Once he reaches the rank of Star Captain he knows that�s it for him unless he gets his blood name. Since no one will sponsor him, he participates in the grand Melee for a spot. He makes it to the final battle for a blood name but is taken down by a female Elemental named Ranko.
       With Ranma being a Trueborn Akane only loathes him all the more. In her mind he�s not even human, just some Gene tech monster created to kill.  Add to that, she was chewed out by Nabiki for Gutting Ranma�s mech, A HellBringer, and we have one mad as hell Tom boy.

Genma:
    Was one of the people in charge of the children in Ranma�s sibko. Took several of the kids under his wing. Oddly none of the kids he helped made Mechwarrior.

Nadoka:
    The closest thing to a mother Ranma had. She is the one who taught Ranma to serve the purpose of Kerensky, which is what allows him to deal with working for mercs.


Star Colonel Ranko Osis:
    Elemental.

Ranma: �She looks a lot like me if I were female, had red hair, and was 7 ft of solid muscle.�

This is the woman that beat Ranma in the final battle for the Osis blood name. Ranma was under her command before his transfer that led to his capture and has a serious dislike of her. She is unusually vicious to her enemies.

Ranma:  �They don�t call her �the pilot slayer� for nothing.  She has more single kills to her credit than most mechwarriors, and she accomplished this by going for the cockpit of enemy mechs. �

Ranko: �Fellow elementals! When fighting Inner sphere warriors go for the cockpit. That way the mech can be reused or recycled. After all it�s only the worthless pilot inside we want to get rid of!�

Ranko is also aware of Ranma�s talents as a Mechwarrior and is unwilling to leave such a useful weapon against her Clan in the hands of the Inner Sphere. Although she would prefer to capture him, his death will serve the clan well enough.

Ranma: �It figures, the only Trueborn to recognize my skills has to be a complete psycho.�

    She also has a Kittenish side that tends to surface around Ranma. Much like a kitten playing with a mouse before it eats it. It was this attitude towards him and her Savagery in combat that prompted Ranma to request his units transfer from her command.

Doctor Tofu:
    The head tech for the Maulers. Has no idea what to make of Ranma. Has a slight interest in Kasumi.

Kodachi:
    ISF agent for the Draconis combine. The ISF has heard rumors of unrest from within the clans and they are worried Ranma is a spy for a soon to come clan invasion. Kodachi runs a small flower shop near the  Merc�s home and often drops by unannounced with flowers to �Brighten the place up.�


    The Nerima Maulers have the equivalent of two reinforced company�s of Mechs.

    If you would prefer I use the original back story over the new one just let me know. For that plot Nadoka was a freeborn women impregnated by the Trueborn Genma.
Who later died in battle on Tukkayid. Either way there will be a lot of action as this story gets going. The Merc group is going to go through a lot as the inner sphere prepares to invade the clans. They will lose people and make enemies, clan and inner sphere that can make their lives hell. But first they have to get to an understanding with Ranma which may take a few chapters. As for the date, I�m still deciding on it.
Also, any suggestion for Mech assignments will be greatly appreciated. I am debating whether or not to allow a few other characters from Ranma � or other series into this story. Shinji Ikari as a Mechwarrior, naahh!  However, Gendo Ikari working for �The Word of Blake� might work. Your thoughts and suggestions please
