Charm Quest:
The Curse of the Gem
Chapter 1: Travelling Realms
"Hey, YOU!! GET OVER HERE!"
A dark room. Heavy breathing.
"There you are! No where to run now boy!"
Shining red eyes. More heavy breathing.
A fat man in turban, cut a corner, chasing down a small boy, crying and
running, wearing tattered robes.
Eyes shining brightly. A small gust forms.
"Leave me alone!"
The man corners the small boy with a sword in hand.
"I have orders to return you to your owner! Now c'mere boy, and we can
all go home... rich."
With a yell of fury, something broke out of one of the burning
buildings, creating a red flash.
With a clash, the fat man's sword clashed against another blade.
"Stop!"
The man turned aroudn to see a boy in late teens standing behind him
"around"
with his sword raised.
"Who are you kid? I killed everyone around here."
Hardly likely, and if it was true he wouldn't turn his back on a new opponent.
The fat man smirked, then turned around again, then yelled at the teen
infront of him when he found the child gone.
"in front". Since he turned around, the teen is no longer in front of
him.
"Hey! You're gonna have to pay for that! There goes my retirement
fee..."
The teen only scowled and took out his sword.
He was keeping it in a box?
"That's my brother you fat lard!"
Redundant.
He jumped and brung down his sword fully into the fat mans head. Blood
"brung" is not a word. Actually that whole sentence could stand rewriting into
something less clumsy. "man's"
flowing, the man fell.
"Justin! You shouldn't have done that...."
A girl stood behind him.
"I had to Sue, you know we have to protect him, he's your brother too!"
She looked down.
"I know, but we'll have the Empirium hunting us down now."
"Imperium". Actually killing him without any witnesses is less likely
to get them in trouble than stopping him and leaving him alive.
Justin shook his head sadly and shrugged.
"I had no choice. He was hunted anyways, we'll just have to follow his
way."
He stood in the middle of the burning villiage.
"village"
"Charm!"
A small gem appeared infront of him.
"in front"
"Let's go. We don't have much time."
They both stepped into the burning red stone, and was gone with a flash
"were gone"
of blinding blue light.
"HEEEEY WATCH OUT!" Genn was rolling down the steep hill, with an
unfamiliar device. "WAHHAHAHAHA, professor I'm really gonna kill
you~!!"
She was screaming as the whealed device rolled down fearlessly. As the
"wheeled"
device stopped itself through a remote control held by the genius
inventor, Professor Gaiz, Genn fell out of the biek dazzeled. She
"bike", "dizzied"
shouted madly. "Hey Prof.! I almost got killed right there! Why
didn't you stop the thing~!" He smiled a maniacal smile. "I was just
testing my new brakes system!! I didn't know if they would work." A

sweat rolled down Genn's head. "Proffesor, you don't mean to tell me,
"sweat drop", "Professor"
you were'nt sure I would stop?!" Professor Gaiz was a skilled inventor,
"weren't"
but was also a forgetful uncle of Genn. "Hehe. I'm sorry Genn, I
"Genn's uncle was a skilled but sometimes careless inventory.
forgot to tell you." Genn seemed a bit annoyed. "Hey, I COULD HAVE BEEN
KILLED!!!" Professor Gaiz smiled as the sun glinted off his glasses.
"Hehe, Well, this is very awkward for me to ask you after what almost
could have happened to my favorite nephew...." Genn stared at her

uncle. 'What's he up to now?'
"Ah, ahem.... Well, I have another... uh... more sophisticated
invention. I would like for you to... test... no, try it on first."
"What?!" Gaiz looked amusingly at his nephew.
Start a new paragraph. "amusedly at his niece"
"Hehe, Don't worry, it's not like the Hover-Cycle, nothing like that,
no...."
Genn sighed. "All right Prof. But what is it?" He smiled again.
The second sentence should be in the next paragraph.
"Hehe, that'll be another surprise."
They both walked into the inventory safe, where most of his pre-models,
sketches, and his most important work was stored in.
"which stored most of his prototypes and sketches."
There was a small Buggy that was floating in air. "Go ahead, inside you
go, don't touch anything now. Now, good girl. Are you ready?"
Genn asked, "For WHAT?" Professor smiled slyly. "The computer will
tell you when you begin. There is food in the back compartment, and
also first aid and some drinks. You always liked adventure, a
dimensional walkie-talkie is available also in the compartment near the
wheel. There's also the Hove-Cycle inthe compartment. Good luck Genn,
"Hover-Cycle in the"
up you go!"
Eyes wide, Genn scraemed at her uncle. "Hey!!! What is this thing, why
do I need these stuff, LET ME OUT!!" Gaiz just nodded. "Of course,
"this stuff"
it's a dimensional teleporter hover-buggy. Have fun, and READ THE
BOOKLET!"
Genn saw a bright electric bolts flying about her out side of the window
and then everything went dark.
Justin jumped as he saw the Guard running towards him. "Ka~!" He
yelled out a word of fury, as he sliced the Guard in half. 2 other
guards came to the first one's aid.
"Stop right there!!"
Justin ran to face them, and using one hand to block a sword and then
Excuse me? Hands don't block swords particularly well. Shields, daggers,
even arm-guards can be used to block swords much more effectively.
using the other arm, sliced the two guards into four neat pieces.
Not likely. Slashing people in two isn't even remotely neat,
It's messy, with blood everywhere, and uneven, even if you have the
superhuman physical strength to slice through two people with one
blow.
"Sue!" Sue appeared out of a red flame. "Huh?!" Sue exclaimed in
surprise. "Guards, and a blocked door? What's going on Justin?"
Justin shook his head. "I dunno, but let's find out. None of the
guards could have sealed the door to the villiage, we could have fought
"village"
off millions of them. Let's go in." They both quickly jumped across
the sealed gate standing nearly 12 feet long. Just inside, they saw 3
guards riding on the fiersom Triarm beasts. They were bigger than an
elephant, and they crawled on 2 hidn legs and had 3 arms with twisted
"walked on 2 hind legs"
metal claws. "The beast riders here, this must have been a full-scale
war." Sue stood looking worried. "But who won?" The guards finally
noticed the two teens. "There, the survivors!"
Sue's worry grew, as she thought to herself. 'Survivors?! Us?'
But Justin relentlessly followed through to meet with the guards.
"Charm!! Summoners of the Elements!"
Justin was surrounded by a blue aurora.
"Lagendine!" A flash of thick lightening bolt struck all three riders,
burning them to the ashes.
"to ashes"
Panting, Justin fell down on his knee's. Sue ran towards him, her short
"knees"
dark hair rippling in the wind. "Are you Ok Justin?" He was still on
"OK"
his knee's. "Who did this... how!!" Then he pointed towards the middle
"knees"
of the villiage, where a great big bone fire was burning away, fueled by
"village", "bonfire"
dozens of their peoples bodies. "Who.... nothing could have done
"people's"
that!" He stood up now. Sue looked at him, and then at the pile. "The
Empirium...." Justin clenched his teeth. "But HOW?! All these people,
we had enough power to blast the whole damn world!" "If I ever find out
who did this...."
A shrill laughter seemed to fill the air around them, echoing madly. It
became louder and louder, and it ran deep, deeper into their bones,
chilling the two teens, forever and never at the same time.
"Make it stop!" Sue cried out. The laughter seemed to last an
eternity.
An unfamiliar voice filled the air. "Then what little boy?! If you do
find out...."
The laughter of mockery turned into shrieks of madness. "Well, here I
am!!"
The shrieks of laughter died away into an echo. And a tall man sat
floating before them, wearing white and black, Wearing a dark mask.
"Here I am little boy, and what are you gonna do?"
He was wielding a sickle. "So, what can you do? You can't fight me, I
Ordinarily people who want to be death wield a scythe. Besides, I think
you misspelled the name of that weapon/tool.
am black death...."
Justin stook up to the fullest of his height, drawing his aurora around
his sword.
"You.... why, and how?!" Again the shrill laughter filled the air
around them, mocking them.
"HAHAHAHAHA!!!! The Empirium had little to do with the killing, they
just came to sweep up. But It's my job to kill, of course, now, it's
"it's"
your turn!"
He took up his sickle and started floating in cirle motion, seeming to
multiply.
At the same time, dozens of voices spoke up at the same time.
"Where am I? Which one?! HAHAHAHA!!"
Justin looked all around him as rounds after rounds hit him from all
directions.
As what?
"Why, how?! I'm gonna kill you!!"
The laughter became louder. "Kill me?! I AM DEATH!"
The sky darkened, and thousands of dark, tiny skulls surrounded by
glowing red lights fell from the sky, consuming all that it touched.
"Death!!!!!!!!"
Justin again called upon the Charm. Sue had joined him.
"Charm!! Summoner of the Spirits!!"
A blinding white light surroudned the blade of the sword. "Blitz~!"
"surrounded"
A wild flurry of assaults formed all around the air, surrdounding him
"surrounding" A wild flurry of what?
with flashing white light.
"HAHAHAHAHA!!!!" The laughter was again even louder.
This time, it chilled Justin and Sue to the bone. They could'nt move,
"couldn't"
or feel anything, they felt numb, numb as death.
Justin thought to himself. 'This is it....'
Genn kept screaming ever since she awoke, as darkness surrounded her,
and she saw stars, moons, planets passign by her. hours seemed to be
passed, when with a loud blinding BANG, the buggy came out of the void
and landed with a poomf. "AHHHHHHHH!!!!" Genn started breathing
heavily. "Oh, my, god. I think I dropped on something." Two strange
teenagers, covered in dirt came inside. "Go, just GO, can this thing
So they could move after all.
move?" Genn looked at them strangely.
"Who are you?" They were panting heavily. "No time to answer, just
go!!" Genn took on her most serious stubbron look she can put on. "I
"stubborn"
am not moving an INCH without having some questions answered, and You
can bet on...." Then she saw a gigantic monster leap out form beneath
the buggy, that now took the shape of a masked man. "Let's get out of
here!!" She stepped on the accerlerator. With a giant BANG of dirt, the
buggy started to speed up. "FASTER FASTER!!"
The two strangers in the back seat shouted like little kids. "GO,
FASTER, HE'S CATCHING ON!"
Genn looked back and saw the tall flying man turned into a dark cloud of
tornado and follow them.
"Oh god oh god oh god, I'm gonna KILL YOU PROFFESOR!!!" The boy poitned
"professor", "pointed"
toward a small shining hole. "Go, in there!" Genn stared back at
him. "What?! There?!"
"YES, GO IN THERE NOW!!" They boy sounded so desparate that she
couldn't stop herself, and through the thin shining light, she saw a
bright flash of blue light, and then darkness....
"Hey...." A dream-like voice called to her. That must be what it was.
I'm just dreaming. Now's the time to wake up. "Wake up~!" With a loud
yelp, Genn stood upright and saw that she was in a bed, in a room, that
was completely new to her. "Wh...where am I?" As her blurred vision
cleared, she saw two teens staring at her. "Um... hey.... hey, I
remember you!" Genn sat up with a start. "Hey!! Where am I?!" The
girl smiled slightly. "Safe. We're at the room of the Gaiden HQ."
Genns face took on a grim frown of worry. "What? I mean, where are
we?" The boy shook his head. "Don't you know what Gaiden is? God,
they must have brainwashed you several times." Genn stared blankly at
the two strangers before him. "Brainwashed?! Gaiden?! What are you
talking about?!" The boy sighed. "Welcome to the world." Genn was now
atring in horror. "World?! Where have that Buggy taken me?! The
world, the world, but... the world is not like this, it has cars,
hotels, hospitals, houses, where IS THIS!!!" The girl closed her eyes.
"Cars? Hospital, hotels? We do have houses." Genn cried out in
dismay.
"Where-ever this is, I have to get out of here...." Genn continued with
a sudden start. "Hey!! The buggy!! It got me in here, it may get me
out!!" She looked at the two teens eyes pleadingly.
"Hey, do you know where my hover-buggy is? It's the thing we were
riding in. I have to get it!" Both of the teenager looked at
themselves. The girl began. "Well, see... it's like this..."
Genn looked at her suspiciously. "What?" Justin just stepped forward
and offered her an answer. "Our researchers locked it up, and took out
the floating thing in the trunk, and after about 5 hours, the 'buggy' as
you call it, automatically disappeared."
They wouldn't think in terms of "automatically"
Genn was too horrified to speak. So she screamed.
"What?!!?! No, you don't mean to tell me, it just.... disappeared?!"
The two teenagers both looked darkly into the ground. "Well... yes."
With a sob of anger and frustration, Genn collapsed on to the bed. The
boy looked sadly at her. "If it makes you feel any better, we saved up
the hovering thing inside the back compartment...." Genn practically
screamed at him.
"Just leave me alone! I have to think..." Genn sat up right. 'You
always liked adventures.' Her inner-mind said to her. "Oh shut up."
Genn said to herself. She thought to herself all day inside the cramped
little room, for hours. The girl came into my room.
"Hi, I was wondering if you would like to speak to the leader of this
camp. He asked me to come and ask you." Genn looked at her for a
second, then stood up.
"Oh, I feel all cramped up. I guess I'll come with you." The girl
smiled. "Good. My name is Sue."
Genn smiled back at Sue. "My name is Genn. Nice to meet you." The two
girls walked out of the room. Outside, the rocky-walled complex was
bigger then it seemed before. It was plastered with a few lanterns here
and there. Boxes of crates were littered through the complex. Here,
she saw soldiers chatting and walking around the place, some cheerfully
drinking.
"Hmm, cozy little place..." Sue only smiled. "Here we are." Genn
opened the heavy wooden door and came face to face with a giant wooden
table surrounded by important looking people. There stood the boy who
was with the girl. The boy first stood up.
"Soldiers of Gaiden, I have bad news for you, especially for me and my
sister. Two days ago, our people had come face to face an entity known
as a Black Death. Our people... were... demolished, during the
"as a black death" or "as Black Death"
conflict, me and my sister barely having escaped, we and our brother is
<wince> "are"
the last in our kind." And everyone bowed their heads in dismay, and
Genn followed what they did. The leader, who was wearing a bright
orange cape stood up this time. "Thank you for the bit of information
Justin... your kins have been one of our most valued allies... the
Empirium is getting to be more ruthless by the days. We must do
something about it." One of the soldiers stood up.
"We should come out of hiding and bravely fight against in the open!"
The leader ordered all soldiers to quiet down. "As of now, that is too
much of a risk." "Now on to other matters, Genn?"
At the mention of her name, Genn stood up, surprised. "Uh... yea,
yes?" She finally stammered out an 'yes' as an answer. "Now, we're
sorry to tell you but you're... 'buggy' dissappeared. However, we
managed to salvage something." Genn nodded. "The Hover-Bike." The
leader nodded in unison. "Now, we are eternally grate-ful about you
saving there teens from their almost certein death." Both Justin and
"grateful to you for saving our children from almost certain death"
Sue nodded in gratitude. "However, we decided we cannot get you into
any part of this conflict, as you are not a part of this war." Genn
So what are you going to do, just kick her into the wilderness?
shrugged. "That's good enoguh for me, this is crazy... I'de rather not
"enough" "I'd"
get involved in here." The leader again nodded. "You are welcome to
stay here for awhile, until a ship can take you to a more comfortable
place to stay in untill you can find out how to get back to where ever
"until", "wherever"
you came from." She nodded.
The meeting was done after a while, and Genn went back into her room,
thinking what will happen to her now....
