Second, the whole thing with Ranma not fighting girls is way,
way, overblown, as it all too often is in fanfics. Ranma said
something like that once, to Akane, in circumstances that made it
clear he was using it to cover up his reluctance to hurt her. He
certainly had no problems fighting Shampoo, Kodachi, Mariko, Kima,
etc. He has never expressed an opinion that girls shouldn't study
the martial arts - given all the female martial artists he encounters,
that would be silly. Hell, he'll even fight Akane under the right
circumstances - the super soba, the battle dogi. He's very reluctant
to actually hit her, but that's because he's in love with her. When
the koi rod made him fall in love with Ryoga, he was not nearly
so protective of her.

Ah yes, but you are forgetting that this isn't the Ranma we all know and love.
This is a 6-7 year old Ranma, who has been travelling Japan with his father as
his only companion. His father has probably instilled this type of behavior
into him at that age, but I wouldn't be surprised that after a while in his
travels, Ranma may encounter and may in fact fight female martial artists of
equal or superiour skill.

This can easily be deduced since it is practically a given fact that Genma and
Ranma stole food and other necessities most of the time during the training
trip. An angry restaurant owner or someone who was insulted would easily go
after them, and I can easily see Genma having Ranma fight the person, saying
that it is nothing more then training. Even if it is a girl. And, after the
first couple of times of losing against girls, Genma can easily be saying that
Ranma is less of a man, because a man is supposed to stronger then a women, and
obviously Ranma is losing to women, making him less then a man. Even though
Genma probably said all of the time that men do not hit women.

Of course, I could be wrong, but don't forget that in this story at least, Ranma
is a 6 year old boy (I think) who absolutely loves his father and wants his
father to be proud of him. He will do anything for that pride, and for the love
of his father. Why? That is obviously because Genma is the only constant
source of companion that Ranma has had. And the only parent that he knows.
This is in the very beginning when Ranma was still a very innocent and loving
boy. Just like all of the little children that are in loving homes around the
world. Just my two cents.
