Chapter 28: Shadows Gathering.
Matthew looked around his room and then sighed. It was a sigh heavy
with anger, anger at the fact that someone had stolen Pandora's box. But
who? Who could have killed the three dozen guards and gotten past all
the detection without being noticed? Only one person came to Matthew's
mind. Me.
Matthew quickly decided to mobilize a strike force, a force that he
would leave. He would get the box back, no matter what the
cost..........
My hands moved over the pink box, the small, pink box. It looked so
simple, so innocent. But it was a weapon of mass destruction, of eternal
damnation. All I had to do was open it, and all the pain would go away.
Along with everything else. If I opened it, then no more me, but I
didn't matter. I just wanted to rest. Rest in peace.
No one would leave me in peace, I was their weapon, their trump
card. They would use me to fight their stupid war. And then kill me,
because I would be a threat. And then it would all be over any ways, so
why not just help then? Simply, because I don't want them to have the
satisfaction.
But there was no point in soul searching, for I may decide not to do
this. So I started to open the box, when a gentle hand rested on mine
and a voice said, "No.".............
Lucifer was sitting on his throne, Listening to music that came from
an unseeable source. The music was dark and chilling, freezing the blood
and shaking the bones. It was so horrible dark and evil, it invoked fear
in anyone with sanity who heard it. Whoever heard it would not stay sane
for long, but would go totally mad.
Guni was standing about five meters in front of Lucifer, smiling
happily. "Everything is complete. The pawns are in place, soon, our
enemies will be crushed."
"Excellent, then there won't be any need for you." And Lucifer fired
at Guni with a concealed gun.
Guni quickly spun around to avoid the bullet and pulled out his own
gun. And in less then a second he had unloaded his whole clip, blowing
fifteen holes in Lucifer's chest. Lucifer didn't survive for any real
length of time after that, he just died, falling of his throne and onto
the floor. Spilling his blood everywhere.
Guni's smile widened, everything was going as planned. Now only the
Messiah would pose a problem. Hopefully, I would be long gone, with the
death of Lilith. He planned to have me run away to another dimension,
with Maeyli, after Lilith died. But plans didn't always go as planned,
which meant that I would have to be checked in on............
Matthew sighed as he read the report, things couldn't get any worse.
A team or investigators were coming from Heaven to study recent church
actions. And there was a good chance that the church wouldn't be able to
cover up the existence of four of the seven angels in the base, the fact
that he has Pandora's box, the fact that he was working with the Messiah
recently, and the plan to overthrow Heaven.
I looked at the messenger with dark, evil eyes. It was not the
bearers of the messages fault for the message, but I had no one better
to blame at the time. "Tell the soldiers to kill the investigators. And
assemble the army! We will soon have a war to fight.".............
I pulled my hand away from Maeyli's and gave her a sour look. "Leave
me alone. Go jump to another dimension! Leave me be! I want to end the
pain once and for all!"
Maeyli sighed and looked around. She knew this place well. It was
the outer regions of this dimension, a place where nothing and
everything existed. It was a place of flashing colours, red to white to
blue to green and so on forever. It was beyond the laws of physics,
beyond everything describable and known. No one came here, for after so
long, insanity set in. For everything, and nothing, was too much or to
little for man to comprehend. That's why there is science, to explain.
But there are some things science cannot explain, and this is one of
those things.
"I won't be able to leave this dimension for another, oh, thirty
minutes or so. Therefore I die if you open that box. So it's better to
TRY to get you to change your mind, then to sit around and wait to die."
"How about I wait until you go? Then will you leave me alone?"
"No. Because I have strong feelings for you."
Then another voice came in from behind Maeyli. "As do I. I won't
say, I love you, because it would sound too cheesy."
I knew the voice all to well, it was Sarah. She was standing about
three meters behind Maeyli. She didn't look any different then she did
earlier. She had the same dress on, the same jewelry, and the same
purple hair.
Maeyli turned around to face Sarah, and a frown spread across her
face. "Go away! You're just as bad as the rest of them."
Sarah looked hurt for a second, but quickly clouded it over with a
cool complexion. "I'm trying to help him, just like you are. You're just
so damn greedy, wanting him for yourself. He's mine!"
"No!"
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
It was then that I bursted in. "Stop! Shut up both of you! Arguing
over me like some object to possess. Just go away! Both of you! Or I
WILL open this box right here, right now! GO!"
And so they vanished. Leaving me here to contemplate what to
do.........
