To those who might have already forgotten what happened in the past chapters,
Duo had died and were about to be introduced to his parents. ~Rubbing my
hands together with an evil grin on my face.~ Duo fans might really hate me
for this. But too bad. It's *MY* fic. *BWAHAHAHA!!*
Now on with the show!!

Chapter 6: Reunion and Resurrection
"Wahhh!" screamed Duo. "You must have made a great mistake,
Koenma-sama. They can't be my parents!"
Standing in front of them were Hiei and Youko Kurama. Hiei
was a fire deamon with spiky black hair with a white star pattern
in it. After a couple hundred years, he had grown to be five-feet
five. He still had that bandanna to cover up his jagan. Youko
Kurama was about seven-feet tall and quite muscular. He had nine
tails, and his ears were fox ears which perched on top of his head.
His eyes are thin, slanted, golden in color. He was one of the most
beautiful beings Duo had ever laid eyes upon ('maybe except
for Heero,' thought Duo).
"Well, why not?" asked Koenma.
"For one thing, they're both guys. Another thing is that
I'm human and they're...I don't even know what they are!!"
"Whoever said that you're human? And for your information,
Hiei is a powerful fire demon and Kurama is an equally powerful
youko. You were named 'Duo' for a reason. It means 'two' or
'a pair of'. They named you so because you have two fathers. Now
show some respect to your parents."
Hiei and Kurama watched the two exchange arguments. Hiei
and Kurama themselves went into their own little discussion.
"Hn. Kurama, I think you should turn back into Shuuichi.
Your youko form is scaring the poor boy."
"I can't. My human form is too emotional."
"I think that Duo is a bit too emotional himself."
Kurama sighed and did as Hiei told him, knowing that he was
probably right. With a great swirl of visible youki, he turned
into his human form. Duo and Koenma stopped arguing when they
felt the some breeze. Now instead of a youko, a beautiful man
stood before them. Kurama, a.k.a. Shuuichi Minamino, has long red
hair and big emerald green eyes. Those beautiful eyes all of a
sudden formed great tear drops as Shuuichi ran to give Duo a big
bear hug. "Oh my poor baby!!"
"Eeep!" said a startled Duo. He began to turn purple due
to the lack of oxygen. (Do ghosts need to breathe? ~shrug~)
"Baka kitsune!" Hiei pounded Kurama in the head, forming
a lump. "What are you trying to do to Duo. Squeeze him to death?"
"I told you that my human form is too emotional. Besides,
I can't squeeze him to death. He's already dead!!"
"Hn."
Half a hour later, they were having tea to calm down their
nerves (and their emotions) and to answer Duo's questions.
Kurama did all the explaining since Hiei did not like to talk much
and tended to be a little rude. To Duo, Hiei resembled Heero in
many ways, just as he resembled Kurama.
As it turned out, Hiei and Kurama had left Duo in the
orphanage because he had been too human to survive with them in
Makai. They had done it out of love for their only child.
"You did not even show any signs of having youki until about
two years ago. You have a strange youki that is somewhat like
Hiei's."
"Huh?" Duo was completely baffled. "What do you mean?"
Hiei finally spoke up. "I'm a fire demon and my youki
produces fire. We get our powers from our youki." He raised an
eyebrow. "How do you suppose you can use your thermal
scythe underwater?"
"Oh."
"Well," Kurama continued, "it seems that you can generate
your youki through your gundam, just like Hiei could generate his
youki around his sword. We'll give you special training so you
can learn how to use it."
"I have another question."
"Yes?"
"How come I don't look anything like the either of you?"
"That's because your physical human body is a clone."
Everyone turned their head to look at the speaker just coming
through the door. It was Yukina, with Kuwabara, Yuusuke and Keiko
following her. They made introductions. Duo found out that
Yukina was his aunt and Kuwabara was his uncle. Yukina found out
that Hiei was her brother on the day Kuwabara had died. Yukina
had been crying and blaming herself for losing her husband. She
had also blamed herself a failure for not finding her twin brother
even after such a long time. Hiei couldn't stand to watch her
cry like that, and had confessed his true identity to her.
Till now he still disapproves having Kuwabara as a
brother-in-law. However, he wanted Yukina to be happy, so he
decided to let them stay together. But he made a promise to himself. If
Kuwabara ever dare to make his Yukina cry,
She sat down and began to explain. "Listen closely, Duo.
You're a Koorime too so you should know about this. Our race
can reproduce asexually. All you need is the genes of your
partner or just your own to produce the soul and the youkai body.
When you were born Kurama-san was not with Hiei, so your physical
human body was cloned from the last person he saw, which was some
woman. Your look like her. And as for your youkai body,
well...we'll see later. It should look something like that of
your parents."
Koenma had been looking through Duo's file. Now he spoke up,
and he didn't look happy. "Duo, I have some bad news for you.
You're not human so you're to be punished for all those humans you
have killed." Duo bowed his head shamefully. "First, I want you
to be trained. Then you shall work for me as a tentai to repay for
all those sins. Do you understand me?"
"Yes sir."
"Good. I'll have papers drawn up for you to allow you to go
though all three worlds. Oh, by the way, the time's right for your
ressurrection. Your brain waves are appropriate for the process."
Koenma led them to another room where Duo's body was. It
was already glowing from head to toe with a golden light. Duo sat
next to his body and got ready. Kurama supplied the life force
through Duo's lips. The first thing that Duo saw when he opened
his physical eyes was Kurama leaning over him.
"Okay, I'm alive now." Both Hiei and Kurama gave him a hug.
"Now that I've got two fathers," Duo said as the hug ended, "how
will you know who I'm calling?"
Kurama came up with the perfect solution. "You may call me
your 'otousan' and Hiei your 'chichiue'."
Koenma chose then to interupt the happy family reunion. "You
must all be tired. I've got some rooms set up for you where you can retire."
They were very tired, especially Duo, but the first thing
they did was gather some bathing equipment. "There's a spa in
the palace," explained Kurama. All three of them went to enjoy
themselves. Duo was so tired that it was Kurama and Hiei that
scrubbed him clean. After, they went to Duo's room.
"We have some gifts for you." Kurama gave him two boxes.
Duo opened them carefully. The first box was from Hiei. Inside
was a gold necklace with a small round stone.
"That's my tear gem," explained Hiei, "and try not to lose
it because it's worth a lot. When a Koorime cries, the tears turn
into these gems. They're actually diamonds without a single
flaw. When you were younger, I had hypnotized you so you would not
cry. If anyone found out that you could produce these gems, you
could have been in a lot of trouble." They had never heard Hiei
say so much in one time.
Duo, being a thief and merchant, relized the value of the
gem and the love it represented. He put it on, holding the love
the gem represented close to him, along with the cross Father
Maxwell had given him.
The next gift was from Kurama. It was a silver-backed brush
and mirror. "The brush's not worth much but when I had saw your
long hair, I couldn't resist." Kurama took the brush from Duo's
hand and brushed out Duo's hair. "The mirror was something that I
had stole a long time ago," Kurama said as he continued to brush
Duo's hair. "It's not worth much so I guess I had stolen it for
the legend behind it."
"So, what's the legend?" Duo's curiosity was getting the
better of him, yet again.
There was a slight pause before Kurama answered, "I forgot."
Hiei and Duo sweatdropped. "I have stolen so many things that
you can't expect me to remember the story behind each of them!"
After Kurama rebraided his hair, they both tucked him in,
gave him a peck on the cheek and left. Duo sighed in contentment.
It might have been weird to have two fathers like them, but it
felt great to be loved and wanted.
It felt good to have a family again.
