Boomer?
Boomer. It's a mispronunciation of B.U.M.A., I believe...
although for the life of me I can't recall what the acronym
stands for right now. (Biological Utility Maintenance Android?)
In fact, I can't recall if the acronym is ever actually explained
in the series, to be honest. Shameful, isn't it?
Also, BUMA: Big Ugly Metal Android :)
It's one of those nifty Japanese words that don't really mean anything.
Others:
The ADP from BGC: ADvanced Police or (another one that I forgot)
The AMP from Silent Mobius: Attacked Mystification Police
GUNDAM from the normal Gundam series (not Gundam Wing):
General Utility Non-Discontinuity Augmented Manuveuring

They run amuck fairly often. :) The run-of-the-mill boomers
are pretty pathetic, and still generally whip ADPolice's butt,
until they're dog-piled by sheer firepower. The smarter, better
ones give even the Sabers a run for their money, and make the
ADPolice look like they're standing still. :)
Actually not. The boomers the ADP keep getting killed on tend to be
military type boomers or are augmented in some way. The 'run-of-the-mill'
boomers are better shown in Bubblegum Crash and are what the ADp are
supposed to be handling. Everything from common waiter/waitress boomers
to heavy duty construction boomers. Which is why the ADp do get
slaughtered every now and then. They weren't outfitted to fight military
grade machines.
