Sailor Saturn and the show Sailor Moon belongs to Naoko Takeuchi, and
I do not own them. This fanfic is written purely for entertainment
and possible speculation of events.

Her name was once Hotaru Tomoe, but everyone knew her as Sailor
Saturn. The Senshi of Silence. The Senshi who had power over Life and
Death.
As she walked across the dirt ground, a man, having crossed her
path foolishly, suddenly cowered in fear before turning around to
flee before her.
A human man, in his early thirties and in perfect health. He
would have lived for a long time, if he had been given an
opportunity.
Saturn turned her head to face the man and motioned her hand at
him.
Instantly, the man clutched to his heart, contours of pain
evident on his face. Ten seconds later, the man fell to the ground,
dead.
The Senshi of Silence resumed her trek across the barren Earth,
carrying her Glaive gracefully. Like an Angel.
An Angel of Death.
She was bringing death to Earth.

She had been called by many names; but what they all bore in
common was Death. The Harbinger of Death.
Everyone had initially tried to rebel against the Senshi of
Silence. They shot at her, bombed her, cut her up, gassed her, and
even nuked her.
To no avail. She breached their defenses easily and took their
lives, but without any emotion. She felt no grief or thrill. She had
no compassion or desire.
She simply did it.
Humans and animals and plants alike, none were spared from her
relentless hunt for all living. Even the most insignificant of living
beings such as ants and bacteria and grass perished.
Saturn glanced up and spotted an ancient nuclear missile
streaking towards her. Unconcernedly, she raised her barrier shield
and waited for the ensuing detonation to subside, taking 30 million
lives with it.
As the smoke cleared, she moved on and put another 90 million
survivors out of their misery.
She resumed her trek to the east, leaving behind the region that
was once known as United States of America.
Moving from West to East, people fled from her in vain attempt
to escape death.

Somewhere in Africa, she met a token of resistance in form of
Sailor Neptune.
Sailor Neptune approached her, a frown clear on her face.
Stopping before the child she had raised long time ago, she assumed
the role of an upset mother. Crossing her arms, she spoke to her
child.
"You know that you are not supposed to do this."
Sailor Saturn replied, "Yes."
"You are not supposed to kill other people."
"Yes."
"You are not supposed to destroy things."
"Yes."
After a moment of silence, Neptune's face softened with a sad
expression. "I understand" was her sad words.
Saturn did not smile. "Then you know why I am doing this."
She replied, "Yes."
"You know what I have to do."
"Yes, I do."
"And you know what I plan to do?"
"I do."
"Then I will do it, Michru-mama."
With a quick flick of her Glaive, the Senshi of Neptune fell to
the ground, headless.
"Thank you, mama." She nodded to the corpse and resumed her trek
of death and destruction.

Fifteen months after she began her duty, she landed on the
ground, and gazed around the place that once had been a thriving city
of Crystal Tokyo. Instead of the polished crystals and lines of
lights, blackened rocks and crumbling concrete remained.
Time no longer measured by anybody later, Saturn stood atop the
ruins of the Crystal Spire, having completed the final sweep of the
survivors in the region. She had done her task flawlessly.
Earth was now a ball of dust and rock, despite having an
atmosphere. She could still sense pockets of survivors scattered
throughout the world.
But before her task would be complete, she had one final job to
do.
Raising her Glaive, she concentrated all of her power into it
and brought it down crashing against the barren Earth.
"DEATH REBORN REVOLUTION!"
The ground quaked, even as the skies boiled. The Prophecy of
Saturn was finally fulfilled as, somewhere, a spark of life was
reborn, even as the survivors resisted.

Hotaru Tomoe woke up to the rising sunlight reflected from the
gleaming crystals and smiled at her dream before rising and
transforming into Sailor Saturn.
In time that was still measured later, Sailor Saturn approached
her superior and knelt before her. Looking up to Neo-Queen Serenity,
she asked her Majesty a question, just she has done every morning
since her awakening.
"Your Majesty, may I destroy the world today?"
The queen replied with no trace of emotion, "No, you may not."
"Yes, your Majesty." She arose and bowed to her queen
respectfully. Turning around, she walked out of the chamber to
perform her duties as Sailor Saturn, the Senshi of Silence.
As she walked along the halls of the majestic Palace, she paused
as she sensed a presence. Soundlessly, she knelt to the ground, her
head bowed before the Prophecy as it manifested.
"It is not yet time, my faithful servant."
"Yes."
Her guardian deity motioned for her to rise, "Be patient. Your
time will come one day. Together, we will irradiate most of this
planet, and from its past, a new form of civilization shall be reborn
from its ashes."
Saturn remained silent as her deity faded away with words,
"Humans are not yet ready for their destiny. They have to learn how
to be humbled."
If she had been the same Hotaru Tomoe who had sacrificed herself
to defeat Pharoh 90 one millennia ago, she would have cried at the
words she had heard today. She would have whispered a prayer of
forgiveness for those who would perish before her.
But she was not.
A thousand years had irrevocably changed her. As Senshi of Death
and Rebirth, she had witnessed far too many of death and senseless
slaughter of innocents. Her Prophecy had weighted heavily upon her
shoulders for so long. How could an innocent being bear the knowledge
that she alone would be responsible for deaths of billions in future?
Hotaru could not, and she had died, leaving behind the Senshi
everyone had come to know in this current era. Half of the world
population feared her, while the rest adored her. Unlike her previous
incarnation, she looked forward past the Death to the Rebirth, where
innocent Hotaru had failed to do so.
For now, Her Prophecy of Saturn would wait another day. And
another day. It would always wait for the day when it was no longer
denied. Either by the approval or the absence of the disapproval.
When she was no longer denied, she would finally perform her
task entrusted to her by her namesake. Without mirth or sadness.
To initiate a new phase of evolution.
She was Sailor Saturn, her guardian deity was the planet of
Silence. The warrior of death and rebirth.
So she waited.
