Dear Readers of Sukeban Senshi,
Due to the volume of e-mail I've gotten
(and am getting) I'm writing an open letter.
I _will_ answer
everyone individually, but it's going to
take time. (If you do NOT receive an
answer it's because I did not get your
e-mail. My mail-box has been overwhelmed)
Which is an obvious thing considering the volume of discussion
on it occuring on the ML.
1) THANK you, one-and-all for all your
e-mail. I appreciate your taking the time to
write. And it's nice to know that you care
so passionately about Sukeban Senshi.
Of course we care about our poor little Yakuza schoolgirl. ^_^
2)I have not lost control of the story.
I may have lost my mind, but I'm still
in control. (I think)
But still the impression is there. Or maybe that's you losing your
mind ^_^
3)To completely answer all of the questions
about Sukeban 7 would actually be Chapter 8
by the time I finished. So Im going to try and
finish Chapter 8 just as quickly as possible.
Anytime next week would be fine. ^_^
4) EVERY character in Chp. 7 is essential to
the story. (well, perhaps not You're Under Arrest.
I had so many people write asking for more
cameo's, and it just seemed to fit . . .)
There is such a thing as too many cameos you know. ^_^
And again I'm worried and somewhat excited...the sheer
volume of characters and trying to juggle them all would be
a great trial and can be detrimental to the story's
presentation. But I'm excited since the only way I see you
could pull it off is by making each chapter at the minimum
three digits. Heh. Bigger chapters and more Sukeban
Senshi. ^_^
5)The God-eater actually makes more sense than
any other transformation. All I can say (w/o writing
the entire story here and now) is::
a)Look at Hindu mythology
b)look at Sailor Moon, especially the final season
and also
c) Japanese mythology as regards the
Emperor. (Look especially at their creation myths)
d) think about what I've done with the character,
Soban in particular, in comparison to the original.
Hindu? I think you're referring to the ages and the evolutions
mentioned remind me of the cyclical style of Hindu beliefs
but they also distinctly remind me of the Greek Ages of Man
from gold to silver to whatever...
Final season Sailormoon? Hmmm... now that you mention
it, with every opponent on the block where is Galaxia?
Must ruminate on this little morsel...
Japanese myths...Son of Heaven and all that?
And Soban? Hmmm... have a few guesses on that, but better
not say until Chap. 8...
And again I reiterate my only complaint against
this is the fact that the GOD-EATER(TM) concept
cam out of nowhere with no real foreshadowing. I
like the concept of a god-eating monster from beyond
space and time, but I don't follow the logic of it from the
story.
And also the fact that Soban seems to have been
thrown out of the equation by GOD-EATER(TM)...

Well, interesting, though the fact that you're letting your
muse have its way too much is fairly disturbing and may
end up pulling this story apart, which is my main worry...
As conceived, Soban was going to "fight"
with the transformation broach. (I don't do cute)
and end up in what was essentially pre-fall Moon
Kingdom battle armor. Not giant mecha, just
plain, utilitarian armor. Skin tight, full coverage
(so you can't see her face) Her "face" was replaced by
a view of the moon that would go through different
phases (full, half, quarter, dark).
Now that's more like it. This is the sort of thing your
readers were expecting and would have been glad to
see.
When I write a story I know, in general terms, WHAT
is going to happen. I don't know HOW (details) until
I start writing.
Kinda like me.
I tried for _months_ to get chapter 7 done. (I had a
lot of
encouragement. ^_^) Unfortunately it just would not
work.
I finally decided to try and write the transformation
scene, hoping
that would get things started.
I started with "You are the one."
Soban took the broach, said the trigger phrase . . .
I had NO idea this was going to happen. But, in
retrospect,
it HAD to happen. Once I was finished with this, I
KNEW
what had happened earlier in the chapter. And I
finally understood some things
that are going to happen later on that didn't make
sense before I finished this
chapter..
Strange...but still, it is your story...

I think Ishould have waited until I was finished with
chapter 8. From
the e-mail I've been getting I can see that the
"cliff-hanger" at the
end of chapter 7 was a bit much. I am sorry about
that. I understand
everyone's feelings and didn't intend to upset people.
Hell, cliffhangers are fine with me. Reading Krista Perry
has kinda inured me to their effects a little. ^_^
I am NOT just throwing characters in the mix at
random.
While everyone is not going to show up all at once,
they all play a part . . .eventually.
Which is another worry on how the hell you're gonna
fit over, at last count, at least eighten major characters
and a plethora of minor characters.
Screen time, my dear, will be probably the least of your
problems from this bunch. And considering how you work
there will probably be mroe surprises before this is all over.
Soban is NOT all-powerful now. I have not pulled a
"Deux ex Machina". I didn't like it when the Greeks
did it.
I'M not going to do it. {I didn't do it with Akane
in Furies did I?} I can't say more w/o major spoilers.
I can suggest you re-read the end of chapter 7. I try
to
foreshadow a few things. (I like to foreshadow. ^_^)
Except for the GOD-EATER(TM) part. ^_^
And I knew from my first reading of chapter 7 that
GOD-EATER(TM) wasn't all-powerful. Plenty powerful
but not that powerful.
OK, a _tiny_ spoiler. For everyone
who wants to see Soban in a fuku . . .
that's coming. It's leather. ^_^
{as a CYA disclaimer, the above is intent,
not exact detail. Soban _is_ going to be in
a fuku, or something very similar. And she
will be _closer_ to what you think of
as "Sailor Moon". )

at a Japanese Gay-leather bar, presided over
by a yakuza affiliated "Usagi" and no one turned
a hair.

I put in just _one_ trans-universal, time-shifting
god-eating
cat like being and all heck breaks loose.
Mostly because we can follow the logic of the first two,
whil number three was like a bolt from the blue.
