A little scene that popped into my head last week. There's a fic here, I
think. But it may work better as a quickie. You decide.

Just say yes to anyone pointing a bazooka at you.

"Rei?" Asuka asked as she took a step back, her hands slowly moving for the
progressive knife balanced precariously on the roof of a nearby building. Rei
didn't even seem to move, but the gun in her right hand twitched and the
knife was riddled with bullet holes. "Damnit!" I'm not an Angel!"
"You are," was the flat reply. "And Gendo is your ally."
"My father? In league with the angels?" Shinji asked, his voice horrified.
"She's lying!" Asuka shrieked. "Wonder Girl has lost her mind!"
"Then why are you so upset?" Rei asked as she decorated the space around
Asuka's feet with bullet holes.
"You would be to in my place!"
"But I'm not an Angel." Rei said, her normal, emotionless tone somehow almost
seeming mocking as she spoke."
"What makes you think I'm an Angel?"
"I have been here since the beginning. I saw the EVA's being constructed. I
did not see yours."
"That's because mine was built overseas!"
"Illogical. Why overseas and then ship it to Japan when it could have been
built here and then only the pilot needed to be sent?"
"Because I was overseas at the time!"
"Also illogical. Why were you not sent here then before it was built?"
"I was in college!" Asuka shreiked, her voice taking on a note of desperation.
"Strange. For someone so devoted to defending the Earth, you did not drop
everything when you were found?"
"I. . .I. . ."
"You are an Angel," Rei said flatly. "Your EVA is nothing more then another
Angel symbotically bonded to you. Gendo Ikari brought you here and you have
been summoning the others to test our defenses."
"We had reasons!" Asuka yelled, her eyes darting back and forth. Suddenly,
Shinji moaned and felled to his knees. "Lower your weapons human," Asuka
sneered, her eyes taking on an odd light. "Or he dies." Rei did not comply. "I
said lower them! Or his torment will continue!" Rei was silent for a moment,
then suddenly, the air was filled with a loud clattering as Shinji suddenly
convulsed and fell, his EVA gushing fluid from a dozen or so holes made by
Rei's gun.
"Now I have nothing," Rei said softly as she pointed both the guns at Asuka
and fired, filling the air over Tokyo-3 with the sound of death.
