The TV series of Tenchi implied he was living just outside of town in
the lower mountains and busing in to go to school. The OAV, if memory serves,
said basically the same thing.
Yeah, but neither even implied that he was going to school in Tokyo.
The whole point of the second TV series ("Shin Tenchi / Tenchi in Tokyo")
was that he was going a LONG way away from home, to study in Tokyo;
and that series does specifically state that he lives in Okayama.
I haven't seen Tenchi in Tokyo yet. The fact that Ryo-Oki turns into a large
metal rabbit doesn't exactly have me shelling out $20 plus to purchase it
either.
I liked this description, btw. OTOH, Ucchan's doesn't have
booths, just a counter.
And hopefully tables for the lunchtime rush. 'Specially if Ukyo has half
the brains I give her credit for. They're sitting at one of the tables then.
The place actually isn't all that big. (How would she be able to _afford_
a big place in Tokyo?) Checking the manga, vol. 8, I see that the grill
is in the centre, surrounded by a counter for customers to eat at; outside
that, there's a narrow open area for customers to walk around; and that's
it.
Note that having no tables or booths means that Ukyou has no real need
for waitresses, etc, since she can serve all her customers directly without
moving away from her grill. One suspects that, the few times she's hired
a waitress, she had other motives ...
True. But the point of it is, that Ukyo doesn't know Ranma's leavin town. Not
yet anyways. If it helps, we can say she was busy with another customer or in
the back getting something. I'm probably gonna rewrite this so I'll make it
clearer next time.
