Chapter 1: Rebirth
(Or: What the...?)
It was night in Megatokyo and life was just as usual as it can be in Megatokyo, luckily there hadn't been any boomer-rampages in a couple of weeks, and nobody was complaining either.
Except the man that came storming out of the GENOM building with a couple of securityguards behind him.
"Leave me alone you bastards, I want to talk to chairman Quincy!" the man shouted.
"But Mr. Quincy does not want to meet you doctor Horton, you have been fired and he does not want to waist his time with you" one of the guards replied "Now, get away from here before we redirect you to a prison cell"
Then the guards turned around and returned to their posts in the reception.
The man stood at the entrance for a moment, and the he pointed at the top of the building and screamed: "I won't let you get away with this you bastard! Someday I will make you pay, you hear me? You will pay!!!"
Then he turned around and walked to his very expensive car, got in and drove away.
If he had watched the sky a moment longer he might have noticed the glowing object that was growing larger and larger.
But someone did notice the falling object.
Another man standing in front of his house wearing a labcoat and looking into a telescope.
When he saw the object he looked like if he was going to scream, but he just said with a trembling voice: "Oh my god, it c-can't be. That's impossible"
Then he ran inside to make a phone-call.
If he had watched the object a little longer, he might have noticed that the object retro-rockets had fired and that the object slowed down some.
In the house next-door Sylia Stingray was having her last cup of tea for the day, not a very exiting day, but she didn't mind.
But she was wondering why there had not been any boomer-incidents recently; Genom could be planning something, but what?
It was when she was standing by her livingroom -window she saw the object.
Her first thought was of course: #what is that? # Then she asked herself
#Where will it hit? #
Six km away from Sylias place a lone girl was running towards a park.
She was being hunted by five outriders that had been bored until she had come along.
If they wanted to rape or just rob her did not matter to the girl; she was just running away.
Sure there where many low-lives in the park, but there where also many places where you could hide.
The outriders wanted to play a little with their prey so they kept their distance at first, but when she reached the park they drove faster to catch up.
The girl dove into the shadow of a big bush just in time before the outriders entered the park.
They stopped about 13 meters away and looked around.
Then something seemed to crash down from the sky.
For a military veteran, it would have sounded like an artillery shell, but to the girl and the outriders it was just deafening.
The object hit half a kilometer away and the shockwave tipped the outriders over and sent the girl flying a couple of meters.
When the outriders came to their senses they saw the girl in the light of the fires the object had started, and they continued their hunt.
When the girl heard the bikes starting up she started running towards the crash-site in hope that there would be police there when or if she made it there.
But the outriders did not care if there where any police so they kept on playing with their pray until they reached the crash-site.
Then the girl stumbled (of course) and fell.
The outriders thought that their hunt was over and got off their bikes, grabbed what they considered weapons and started walking towards the girl.
Not until then the noticed the thing that was in the crater behind her.
It looked like a small satellite, but old as hell, so they paid no attention to it until a hatch practically blew open and a thick smoke covered the crater.
When the smoke cleared the outriders and the girl just stared.
Out of the smoke came a man.
He was very tall, muscular and had long black hair and black beard.
But either the girl or the bikers cared about that, they just noticed that a guy had come out of a falling object and he was butt naked!
The man started walking towards the edge of the crater; he didn't seem to care about either the fact that he was walking on burned grass or passing the girl and bikers.
But when he reached the edge of the crater he looked up, looked around and finally seemed to notice his audience.
Then the outriders started laughing and the leader said:
"Look guys, the aliens have come! And they come naked! Bwahahahaha!"
"Maybe he wants in on our girl, huh?" another one grinned.
The man just stared at them.
Then he looked at the girl, then the outriders and then back at the girl.
After what seemed as an eternity he said to the girl: "Go."
After a few seconds the girl started running away towards the edge of the park.
"Hey, Asshole!" the leader of the bikers shouted, "She was ours! So now we'll have to kill you instead!"
Then his hand reached inside his vest a pulled out a small 38. Revolver and pointed it at the man.
His companions pulled out their own weapons, a knife, an ironpipe, a baseballbat and a chain.
They stood in a semi-circle in front of the man.
"Any last words Asshole?" asked the leader.
The man just stared at his soon-to-be attackers and said calmly with a very deep voice:
"Don't even try."
None of the outriders was impressed and they looked like they were going to laugh again.
Suddenly the leader shouted: "DIE!" and started to pull the trigger, then the man rushed towards him in what seemed as slow motion.
The gun went off and then a high-pitched scream was heard in the park.
When the falling object had been spotted on the ground and the point of impact had been determined, several N-police cars were called to the seen.
The first car that reached the edge of the park nearly ran over a girl that appeared out of nowhere.
The police officers got out and tried to stop the almost hysterical girl from crying.
"What's wrong?" "Are you hurt?" but when she didn't answer the decided to put her in the car and radio HQ.
"This is car 55 at the edge of the park where the object crashed, we have encountered a girl here and so far we have not been able to question her. What is the ETA of the AD police, fire department and such?"
"They will be arriving in 3 minutes 55" a girl's voice responded. "Wait for backup before entering the park."
"Gladly" the other officer said dryly.
"Roger that" his partner said "Over and out"
Then the heard the gunshot and the scream.
"What the hell?" they said almost as one.
There where several more screams then silence.
"Do we check it out?" the younger officer asked his partner.
"Sure, kid after you, Are you nuts?, I'm not going in there" the older officer said while looking in the direction of the screams.
"We where told to wait and after hearing that I will wait."
Inspector Leon McNichol came to the seen much later than the other ADP-units because of an unforeseen delay...(he had tried to get a date with Priss and failed again.)
So when he got to the seen of impact it was already buzzing with activity.
N-police was holding the media and curious at bay a couple of blocks away from the site, #some things are not meant to be seen. # Leon thought.
He parked, and started walking towards the crash site.
When he got there Daley met up with him.
"Okay, what, why and how?" Leon asked.
Daley smiled and replied: "We don't know, we don't know and it fell from the sky."
Leon chuckled and said: "Fine, could you give me some details now, please?"
"Sorry, just got here"
Leon looked around him and spotted a familiar face.
"Bochinski!" He called.
"Could you get over here and fill us in please?"
"Sure thing!" Bochinski came over and started reading from a notebook.
"An object believed to be a satellite crashed in (insert park name) an N-police car was first on the seen, and they encountered a hysterical woman that just recently told us that she was being hunted by Five members of the outriders."
"She was trying to hide in the park when the object crashed and then she ran towards the crash site, and-"
"She ran towards the crash-site?" Leon interrupted.
"Well, she did have outriders after her, sir. Can I continue now?
"Sorry, go on."
"When she got here she stumbled and fell, but when they outriders was moving in on her a naked guy came out of the object."
"Huh?" Both Leon and Daley raised an eyebrow.
"I know, but she has repeated her story at least six times without changing a single detail, so I think she is telling the truth."
"Then what happened? And by the way, could she describe the UFO-man?"
"She is still in shock, we will question her again later too see if she remembers any details. Okay, where was I..."
"Right, then he looked at her and told her to get away from here, so she ran to the edge of the park and there she was nearly run-over by N-police car 55."
"When the N-cops had put her in the backseat she heard a gunshot and screams, and so did the two cops"
"Did you find any evidence of a fight?" Daley asked.
"Yeah, the bodies of the outriders, all but one was practically torn to shreds."
"We have the corpses over there if you wanna take a look."
"Why not, who needs to sleep." Leon said.
The trio walked over to a large group of people that was standing around five covered bodies.
Leon bent down and lifted one of the covers and then quickly dropped it again.
"Oh man, what the hell did this?"
"Well it could also be who the hell did this?"
"You don't think that the girl is telling the truth are you?" Leon looked at Bochinski.
"I hope that is isn't, my friend, cause if there is someone that can take out Five armed men, armed with a knife, we think he snatched it from one of the bikers, and his bare hands, then I would not want to get in his way."
"Wait a minute." Leon interrupted. "How do you know that he killed them by hand?"
"Because..." Bochinski said with a faderly tone.
"All but one of the corpses still have their weapons in their hands except Two of them, one is completely unarmed and the the other one has got a knife through his head, and the knife has got his own fingerprints on it. "
"And there is also one thing that could prove that there was a UFO-guy."
"And what is that?"
"One of the corpses is not as badly damaged as the others, and he is butt naked."
"So, you are telling me that the UFO-guy killed him less bloody to steal his clothes?"
Leon said, almost smiling.
"Right first time." Bochinski said. Then he continued:
"So while the other bikers got cut to shreds, this guy got away with just a very broken neck, He can se his own back. This UFO-guy also got transportation from one of his victims, one of the bikes are missing, and I doubt that we will find any papers or license-plates on it."
Leon sighed and said: "When do you think that we can interrogate the girl?"
"With some luck... Tomorrow" Bochinski replied.
"Good... Oh man, how in the hell am I going to report this?" Leon asked the sky.
"Sir, Bochinski said. "I think we've got more trouble" he pointed at a big truck and a limousine that was pulling over at the edge of the park.
It had a Genom logo on the side.
"Why me?" Leon sighed
He started walking towards the truck with Bochinski by his side.
Halfway there, they where intercepted by a trio of men with suits and briefcases.
When they met the man in the middle asked Leon:
"Are you the one in charge here?"
"I am."
The man on Leon's right showed Leon a piece of paper. And the one in the middle said:
"We are here to take this satellite to Genom- reasearchlabs, we are in charge here now and you are ordered by your superiors to give us your full cooperation."
Leon was just about to answer when another truck followed by another limousine pulled over beside the Genom truck.
This one did not have a logo on it, but out of the limo another trio of men came out and started walking towards Leon.
When they got there the middleman said in almost the exact ton of voice as the other trios leader: "I assume you are in charge here." "Yes." Leon once again replied, but now he was starting to see a way out of his situation.
"I represent the Ussd and I am taking over this satellite."
"I don't think so." The Genom-suit said.
"And who are you?"
"I represent Genom and we are here to take this satellite back to-"
"I don't care who you represent, we are taking this satellite and there is nothing you or Genom can do about it!"
Both men where now starting to get angry but Leon and Bochinski was trying really hard not to smile. When the argument grew Bochinski was fortunate enough to be called by another AD-policeman and had to leave Leon to his fate.
Leon tried to interrupt the argument a few times, but then he gave up and walked over to Bochinski and Daley.
"Are we ready to leave?" He asked them.
"Leave? but aren't we supposed to handle this matter?" Daley looked puzzled.
"Why, we have been told twice that someone else will handle the case, and we will have plenty of time to examine everything we got."
"That's right." Daley said smiling. "The bodies, the girl and any other evidence will belong to us long enough to get what we want from it, especially if those two are going to decide who getting the satellite."
"Ok Bochinski, Tell everyone that we are moving out to leave the big boys to settle this matter on their own."
"Yes sir"
While the AD-police was moving out the Six suits was still fighting.
At a lookout point a few kilometers away a lone biker was standing by his bike looking at the city.
The sunset made the city look a little more beautiful than it was, but the biker did not seem to care.
When a bus came to pick up passengers from the bus stop a few meters from him, he suddenly turned and started walking towards the small line of people getting on the bus.
The people who saw him tried to get on the bus a little faster, he looked like an outrider and a grim one at that.
Everyone except the last man in line managed to avoid contact.
"Are you finished with your paper sir?" the biker asked.
"Y-yes sir." The somewhat frightened man said.
"Can I borrow it please?"
"Yessuretakeitbemyguest." the man said in one breath and practically threw his newspaper at the biker before getting on the bus.
"Thank you sir." The biker said flatly.
When the bus was gone he was alone on the lookout point, and when as he slowly walked over to his bike he read aloud from the paper: "June 6th 2033 Megatokyo."
Then he was silent for a few minutes, and then he raised his eyes from the newspaper and looked at the city again.
Then he spoke a single word:
"Crap."
Chapter 2.
"New in town"
The biker sat down on his bike and seemed to think.
Then he reached inside his newly acquired leather vest and pulled out the revolver he had taken from the outrider.
He checked the drum and remembered that the outrider hadn't carried any extra bullets.
And since the outrider had used one of them, that left him with 5 bullets.
#Amateurs. # He thought.
Then he reached for the backpocket of his jeans and took out a wallet.
The outriders hadn't carried much money but he could at least bye more ammo for the revolver.
#Lets see. # #hmm... first ammo, then info. #
Suddenly his stomach growled. The biker looked surprised and thought:
#Correction, food first, then ammo, then info. #
Then he started the bike and started riding towards downtown Neotokyo.
(Soundtrack: Boney M, Daddy cool.)
On his way downtown he found a hamburger joint and stopped to eat, but when an AD-policecar stopped outside he decided to make a to-go order.
If he had stuck around he would have seen that this certain cop was not visiting the burger joint in the line of duty, but to try (again in vain) to get a date with a girl that had been sitting a few meters away from him.
When he got outside he stopped to gaze at the bike next to his.
But he didn't have time to look at it for long, because its owner came storming out of the joint and she was not happy.
"Hey, you! Get away from my bike!" Priss snapped at the biker.
He just looked at her for a moment and then he said:
"Nice piece of machinery, is it for sale?"
"Not on your life scumbag, now get out of here!"
"So I suppose that a test-drive is out of the question then?" he said without any humor what so ever, and that made Priss even more angry.
But before he blew her top the biker got on his own bike without any hurry and drove away.
"Jerk!" Priss snorted and got ready to leave before Leon came after her again.
The biker had finished his meal and was now riding through the part of NeoTokyo that looked like a middle class district.
There where many store on the street, but he seemed to be looking for something special.
It was still early in the morning so he had the street to himself.
Suddenly he stopped in front of a three-floored building that had a sign on it.
"Harrigans Guns and ammo" The biker said to him self "Harrigan."
He got of his bike and walked into the store.
The store was bigger than it seemed from the outside, the long walls was covered with glass cases filled with rifles, and shotguns.
The biker noticed that all the guns in the glass cases where fakes. Probably to keep robbers from getting their hands on the guns fast.
The biker walked up to the counter and called:
"Is there anyone here?"
"I don't speak much Japanese, my friend" came the answer. "I speak Australian English and that's it."
Then came a young man out of the back. "Can I help you?" he asked with an Australian accent.
"Is Harrigan around?" the biker asked, this time in English.
"No, I'm sorry Thomas Harrigan died a year ago, and I have been running things around here since then. He left this place to me in his will.
"You are Thomass son?"
"Yes, last time I looked. Who want's to know?"
"I knew your father before your where born, When he ran guns all over the world I dealt with him from time to time. By the way, where does he keep his illegal things?"
"Illegal?" The young man was starting to look nervous. "What you see is what I got, I am trying to sell everything before I have to return to Australia."
"And by the way, how could you possibly know my father before me, I am 25 years old and you look like 22."
The biker ignored the young mans question and asked:
"How much did your father tell you about his illegal gun deals?"
"Not much, I'm afraid."
"Did he tell you who got him pretty much back on the straight and narrow?"
"Wait a minute, how do you know about... Your are one of them aren't you?
"Your are one of the B.A.Ts aren't you?"
"That I am" the biker said without changing his tone or his facial-expression.
"My father told me a lot of good things about you guys, in fact I am the only one he ever told that you exist."
"Good."
"So you have finally made it back then, huh? This is extraordinary"
"I know. But before we get all mushy I would appreciate some info."
"About what"
"Everything."
It was afternoon when the guy who had introduced himself as Keith Harrigan had finally told the biker everything.
He told him about Genom, Boomers, How the world looked and how it was run and so on.
"So there you go, the world has gone to hell." He concluded.
"Pretty much, it seems." The biker agreed.
"So what Genom says, goes and nobody has got the gut to stand up to them?"
"I don't think it's a matter of guts in some cases, but recourses and manpower."
"But there is a small group of mercenaries that seams to have something personal against Genom. They're called the Knight Sabers."
"Catchy, got a picture of them?"
"I think so... yes here in yesterdays paper."
"Hmm... So they have the best...what did you call them?"
"Hardsuits, nobody else has been able to produce such suits, so I guess that those things cost alot of bux. And so far they are the only ones who stand a chance against a rampaging boomer, the AD-police are considered cannon fodder by almost everyone."
"Damn shame" the biker said. Suddenly here looked at the picture of the Knight Sabers more closely and said: " They are all female!?"
"Yeah"
"The world is strange alright" the biker said without any humor.
"By the way..." Keith asked. "What are you going to do now?"
"I think I'll go into the merc-business myself."
"You will need some heavy firepower to last around here, my friend."
"Do you have anything?"
"You knew my father didn't you? He knew you would come back some day so he had one of his men look into where they put all your guns and stuff. And you can never guess who got them."
"Who?"
"Doctor victor Tatchikawa."
"What!" The biker jerked upright. "Is that bastard still alive?"
"I'm afraid so, he got a job with U.S.S.D some years after the new Stalingrad operation."
"Hes building weapons for the U.S.S.D now, but he has never even gotten close to the kind of weapons you guys used to use."
"Where does he live?"
"I don't know that and I don't want to know either."
"But you should be able to find him at the U.S.S.D buildings garage when he is going home."
"And how do I get into this building?"
"Come on, you are a B.A.T aren't you? You will think of something."
"Do you have any guns I can borrow?
"Since you knew my father you can take anything you want."
The biker looked around him and said:
"A box of bullets for a 38. Revolver, that 12gauge shotgun with extra shells and...Do you have any submachineguns?"
"Just one, a Hk Mp5k with two full clips of ammo."
"I don't think that I will be needing anything more"
"Do you want armor-piercing rounds?"
"Yes"
"How about a nice black leather coat? The weatherman said that's it is going to rain tonight."
"Why not, thanks."
"Do you want them gift-wrapped?" Keith chuckled.
The biker didn't even smile.
"Sorry, just a little dry Australian humor. My father was right, you know."
"About what?"
"If you can get a B.A.T to smile, then you can get anyone to smile."
"..."
"Anyway, do you need any holsters?"
"Yes, one to the 38. I will carry the shotgun and Mp5 under my coat."
"Do you want me to saw the shotgun down for you?"
"Of course."
20 minutes later the biker and Keith was standing outside the store.
"Are you going to try to contact the Knight Sabers? Keith asked.
"No, not until I have made my self known as a good merc."
"Besides, I haven't been hunting for such a long time that I am getting out of shape, so I will start with some anti-terrorist jobs and work my way up. I hope I won't have to tell you to keep quiet about me?"
"No you don't have to do that. By the way, I gave you something else you might find useful, a police radio. Since you needed training it could be useful to know where you could train."
"I will put the word out on the street that there is a new merc in town."
"What do you want to be called and how will your employers contact you?"
"You can choose the name. How long are you going to stay here in Japan?"
"About 3 months I think."
"They can always contact you and then you pass it on to me."
"And if someone asks, you are only the first of many messengers and you have never seen anyone else or me."
"Sure. Why not. I don't want to get bored. There is a walkie-talkie in the bag, it can't be traced and nobody can jam it or listen to our conversation. One of my fathers inventions."
"I will be on channel 2, and you can contact me at anytime." The biker started his bike. "Good luck to you B.A.T... youre going to need it."
"I hope not."
When the biker drove away Keith stood and watched him for a moment.
"Thank god that I will be going home soon." He said with a smile.
Doctor Victor Tatchikawa however, did not smile.
He was standing in front of a large desk facing General McAllister.
"Could you explain to me doctor, why you told one of our pickup teams that you had my permission to order them to go to the park where this satellite crashed?"
"Y-yes sir, I think I can. Please take a look at this."
He handed a thick dossier over to McAllister.
McAllister opened it and started to read, first with disbelief then his eyes widened and he seemed to read much faster.
After what seemed forever to the doctor the general closed the dossier and said:
"My god man, why did you not inform me right away?"
"I was told by my former employers to keep this a secret if I wanted to live sir, but now I had to bring it to your attention."
"So you are telling me that after 35 years, the last of these...B.A.T's have returned?"
"Yes sir."
"Do you have any file on him?"
"I'm afraid not sir, everything except the dossier you have seen was destroyed.
That one was the only one I was able to save from destruction."
"And no-one else knows about this except you and me and the B.A.T?"
"There used to be others, but they are all dead now."
"Good doctor, we will discuss this further in the morning."
"Yes sir thank you."
When the doctor had left the room McAllister pressed a button on his console.
"Major Clancy"
"Sir!" came the fast answer.
"Doctor Tatchikawa is no longer of any use to us, but he also know too much for his own good. Do I make my self clear?"
"Perfectly clear sir" you could almost hear that the major was grinning.
Doctor Tatchikawa hurried down to the garage where his car was parked.
He didn't like McAllister, especially when he acted friendly.
#I may be old but not entirely stupid. # #Well at least I managed to get may paycheck earlier then usual, GOD I hate these credit-chips, credit cards and all those plastic things...Ill settle for old, plain, solid cash. # Tatchikawa thought and touched his briefcase as he stood in the elevator.
When he got to the right floor he got out to the deserted garage, his car was the only one still here. His reserved parking space was on floor 3, it was not classy but at least he did not have to park with the little people.
He also got a little worried when he noticed that the few lights in the garage did not work. He looked out through the windows and saw that a storm was raging. #I hate thunder #
When he was about 20 meters from his car someone said with a rather scary voice:
"Good evening Victor."
Tatchikawa quickly spun around to see whom it was.
Three meters from him a dark figure stood beside a pillar.
"W-who are you?" Against all better judgement Tatchikawa took a couple of steps closer to see whom it was.
"Considering the effect I had on your life I am surprised that you don't recognize me."
The black figure took a step forward, and then his face was illuminated by a lightning-bolt.
"Y-y-you!" Tatchikawa started shaking.
"So you do remember me?"
The doctor was frozen to the ground. He just stared at the man in front of him as if he had seen a ghost.
"W-what do you want from me?" He finally said.
"Information, doctor. And then maybe your life...It was you who betrayed us."
"B-b-but I didn't h-have a choice, they-they forced me to-"
"How much did they pay you for your betrayal, coward? One million?, or maybe two?
How much where we worth to you?"
If it was its queue, the storm thundered at its worst now.
Suddenly the Tatchikawa gathered his last remaining courage and pulled out a small revolver from his coat and pointed it towards the black figure.
"You won't take me alive you freak!" he yelled.
For the first time in 35 years he heard a laugh he had hoped that he would never hear again.
A deep evil laugh echoed in the deserted garage.
When lightning flashed again the doctor saw that the man had the most horrible grin on his face that he had ever seen.
There where no pleasure or happiness in it. Just evil.
"Do you really think that you could kill me, Victor? Or that you can escape me?"
"Stay back! Don't move or I will shoot!"
To call his bluff, the black figure took one step forward.
Tatchikawa pulled the trigger. And nothing happened. He pulled it again and again and then he realized that he had forgotten to load it.
"You must be even dumber than I thought." The black figure said, still grinning evilly.
Suddenly Tatchikawa threw his briefcase at the black figure and made a break for his car.
The black figure however, was not impressed and caught the briefcase and started jogging after Tatchikawa.
"Give up doctor, you can't escape me!" the black figure called.
When Tatchikawa reached his car he thought that his lungs was going to explode, but he still tried to open his car-door in a hurry.
The black figure, now holding Tatchikawas briefcase stopped Five meters from Tatchikawas car. Now he almost looked amused.
"Come on now Victor, just tell me what I want to know and I will leave you alone. Don't make this harder than it has to be."
But Tatchikawa did not listen. When he got his car-door open he got in and tried to get the car started.
But his once so trustworthy car didn't start, so he decided to try again.
The second Tatchikawa turned his key the black figure yelled:
"Victor, get out of-" Then Tatchikawa turned the key and detonated the bomb Major Clancys men had planted under his seat.
KAAABOOOOM!!!!!!!
The black-coated man got up and brushed away some dirt. He had managed to throw himself to the ground before the bomb exploded. His face was now visible in the light of the fire, but it showed no concern for the doctor.
When the fire alarm started howling he decided to make a fast exit.
#Good thing I trashed the security-cameras, the idiots will probably not notice it until they want to see the explosion. # He thought as he ran towards the window he had used as an entrance.
When he got there, the fire department was already on the scene so he had no choice but to jump.
#Thank god for bushes. # He thought before he jumped.
When he landed there was more of a splash than anything else, and when the black-coated man rose he was soaking wet.
#If I get my hands on the guy who dug that hole I'll-#
He didn't get and further before he had to run to his bike, now the N-police was starting to surround the area and question people.
#Thank god that those cops where busy with keeping the curious away. #
He thought as he drove away from the Ussd-building.
3 hours later he had found a deserted building and had decided to spend the night there.
He checked his ammo: 40 bullets for the 38, 24 shells for the shotgun. #Considering that the shotgun can take Eight shells at a time that gives me Three full loads...It will have to do for now. #
Then there were the two clips of 30 rounds each for the Mp5.
Then he checked out the police-radio, but he could not try it now since he did not have any access to power.
He checked the walkie-talkies batteries and then put it by the police-radio.
When he looked deeper into the bag he found two surprises, a sleeping bag and a pair of high-tech-binoculars (with zoom and nightvision labeled on the side)...and extra batteries included.
#Harrigans son indeed. # He thought.
Suddenly he heard a large explosion and then he saw the flash and an eerie red glow.
He ran to the to of his building and looked through his binoculars.
He zoomed in and saw what looked as a small war.
Then he saw his first boomer.
Leon took cover behind his car just as the boomer fired its assimilated Vulcan-cannon in his direction.
Five troopers who were not fast enough where cut down.
"Shit!" Leon exclaimed. "Where the hell are those K12s!? If we keep this up we will be finished!"
The boomer had killed 18 good men now, including a brave (or stupid) one-man-helicopter pilot who had made a suicide-dive against the boomer.
It had no effect other than that the boomer got a new addition to its weaponry.
The choppers Vulcan.
Leon stood up and emptied his earth-shaker towards the boomer.
The first Five bullets struck its chestplates and did not do any damage, but the 6th hit one of the boomers eyes.
The boomer seemed to cry out in pain and anger and aimed its Vulcan towards the car Leon was covering behind.
Suddenly Six troopers opened fire from the boomers right and caught its attention.
The Vulcan roared and Four of the troopers where literally cut in half.
The other two took cover behind a car.
Then the boomer once again turned towards Leon's car and took aim.
But the shower of bullets never came, before the boomer could fire a blue hardsuit landed on a destroyed car and fired at the boomer putting three railgun-spikes in its back.
It should have been enough to put it down, but instead it slowly turned around to face its new opponent.
But as it turned another hardsuit appeared out of nowhere.
Suddenly it was flying through the air and landed on top of the boomer, then it looked like the hardsuit just punched the boomer and then the boomers head exploded while the hardsuit made an impressive backflip and landed gracefully behind the boomer.
Now you could see that the hardsuit was green.
The boomer, or what was left of it, stood still for a moment and then it fell to its knees, and tipped over and fell to the ground with a hard bang.
Then Two other Hardsuits came walking through the flames of what used to be an AD-police car.
One was tall and white and the other was and pink.
The white one walked up to the fallen boomer and raised its right arm.
A long blade flipped up and was thrusted into the boomers back.
The hardsuit twisted the blade around a bit then pulled it out and then the blade disappeared into the suits arm again.
Then the White Hardsuits seemed to say something to the others and they all started running through the flames away from what now looked like a war-zone.
The man on the roof looked surprised to say the least.
#Those things are lethal! Both the Boomer and those sabers.
Poor cops, if I could have helped them I would have.
But those knight Sabers seemed to have very little difficulties destroying it.
Too bad that the politicians can't give the cops heavier guns, they could use them.
I sure hope that I won't get off on the wrong foot with the sabers.
It's pretty obvious that the white saber is the leader, the blue one carries the heaviest firepower but is closely matched but the green one, except in agility.
And then there is the Pink one, I wonder what her job is...Time will tell. #
He rolled out his sleeping bag, crawled into it and it did not take him long to fall asleep.
Meanwhile in the Genom tower Chairman Quincy was looking on his city through his office-window.
A soft knock was heard from the door then Madigan came in.
He turned his chair to face her: "well?"
"Sir, the satellite is being transported to our lab as we speak, but our scientists have not been able to identify the type or when it was built."
"However they do know that it was manned."
"Then where is this pilot?" Quincy asked with his usual cold voice.
"We are trying to find out sir and so are the U.S.S.D, AD-and N-police sir."
"Keep me informed of your progress with the satellite, and do anything you can to find its pilot Ms Madigan."
"Yes Mr. Quincy."
"Thank you Ms Madigan, that will be all."
When Madigan had left Quincy turned back to watch the city.
When the man woke it was still pretty early in the morning, but he was feeling hungry so he got up, started to clean up where he had been and started to examine the briefcase that Tatchikawa had thrown at him.
He easily cracked the codelocks and opened the briefcase.
As he expected it was filled with paper that was of no use to him, so he threw them away, then he noticed a small pocket in the bottom of the briefcase.
He pulled out its contents, a map of the city, a wallet filled with cash and then a key.
It had a piece of paper attached to it where the doctor's address could be found.
It also said what the key where for: front door.
#He was dumber than I thought. #
He decided to check out the doctors house so he gathered his belongings, got on the bike and tried to follow the map.
When he got to the right address he saw a rather big house.
#Dumb or not, he was paid a lot. #
On the driveway there was a large truck that belonged to a moving company.
He also saw the For Sale sign #they did not waste any time. # So he decided to look as someone who wanted to look at the house.
He walked in and started to look around.
To one of the movers, it looked like the biker was searching for something special.
When the man got to the basement he saw a large bookshelf that covered almost half of the wall.
#Victor, you couldn't have made it more easy to find, could you? #
Then he walked up and out to the movers and said:
"Are you finished?"
"Just about, there is just that book-shelf in the basement left." One of the movers replied.
"Don't worry about it, I can keep it, I am buying the house anyway."
"Sorry, but the boss said that we was to empty the house."
"And so you have." The biker said and pulled out ten LARGE bills from his wallet.
He gave the movers two bills each.
"So we have." The movers smiled and then they all got into the truck and drove away.
"Now to the basement" the biker said to himself.
He threw the "for sale" sign in the trashcan, walked inside, locked the door and went down to the basement.
He stood in front of the bookshelf for a few minutes and the he said:
"Now Victor, which book could you have chosen?"
He started looking at the books one by one, until his eyes stopped and stared at...
"Victor, I am very disappointed at you." He said and pulled out the book.
On its back it stood: "Holy Bible"
When the pulled out the book, a section as large as a normal door of the shelf opened.
Behind the shelf there was a metal door, and beside it, there was a small keypad below a small speaker.
"Type password" a female voice said.
#Let's see now...Lets try:
He typed "courage" #The one thing the bastard never had. #
He pressed enter and a splitsecond later, the female voice said: Good evening Victor, youre looking beautiful this evening.
The man did not even smile.
Then hydraulics hissed and the door slowly opened.
Behind the door was just a black hole.
He stepped into the black and as he took his second step into what he judged as a huge room (due to the echo he heard as he walked) the lights started to flicker and then the whole room was illuminated.
The room was huge... And filled with shelves that was filled with, Guns, grenades, rocket-launchers, rifles etc.
It looked like a library of weapons dated from what it looked like the Middle Ages to 20th century, the weapons was sorted by the time they where used in.
World war 2, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm... weapons from almost every war you could think of.
But then he saw some shelves that contained guns that looked like no others.
# Finally!! #.
The man walked through the huge hall of violence for almost half an hour, checking the shelf's contense closely, until he got what seemed to be the end of the large hall.
There, there was a large desk with a computer and beside it, stood a safe.
#Later, inventory first #.
He looked his right and saw what looked like a garage-door.
When he stepped up to it he saw that it could be pushed to the side into the wall.
So he took a firm grip and pushed the door open, only to be greeted by the barrel of a M1a2 Abrams battle tank.
He stepped into the room, the lights springing to life as he stepped into the room.
Another large hall was illuminated, in it there was three rows of veichles, both civilian and military.
Sport-cars, pick-ups, vans, an APC and the Abrams of course.
#How much money did Victor Have!? #
When he looked around the room he saw a lift that probably led to the garage, he guessed.
He returned to the hall of violence and the desk, and noticed a door a few meters to the left of the save.
#Now what? #.
He tried to open the door, and (almost) to his surprise the door was unlocked and opened.
This time the lights did not turn on by themselves, but he found the light-switch by the side of the door.
The room was filled with crates that had serial number painted on them.
In the middle of the room was a glass-case that contained a very grim-looking armor.
"Hello" he said to it.
It was a little taller than the man was, but it did not look like a hardsuit.
It was much bulkier, but it looked meaner.
The helmet looked like some sort of skull without a jawbone.
It was black with red details and had a huge sniper-rifle in its left hand.
On its large shoulder there was a logo (an Evil looking smiley) and a number: 6651/2.
He looked at the suit and said: "And now...I'm back for good"
To be continued...
Anything is welcomed....Flamers will be killed on site.
