For the very first time, I will be on two panels at a convention;
technically, this is misleading, since in one of those panels, I -am- the
panel.
It should tell you what my priorities (or worries) are that, while I cannot
precisely recall the time quoted for the fanfic panel I'll be on, the time
for the White Lightning Productions panel is 8:30 PM Friday evening. It
would be nice if, I dunno, someone SHOWED UP, but that's the time they gave
me, and I wasn't doing anything important anyway. After all, dinner is a
luxury, everyone knows that.
Anyhow, here are some comparisons and contrasts between Kris Overstreet,
WLP Publisher's panel and Kris Overstreet, fanfic reprobate's panel:
Fanfic Panel WLP Industry Panel
------------------------------------------------
Unfeasibly long stories Unfeasibly huge boobs
Anime parody person Anime parody card games
Hate of dubs Love of money
Live reading possible, Live reading unlikely,
if panel is willing and possibly illegal
Protests that I write Second verse,
more than smut same as the first
Explain why more Redneck Explain why more Milkmaid
stories aren't out stories aren't out
Short on time Stall for time
Room full of writers Room full of crickets
Learn how to write better Learn to fake it for the editors
Moderated panel Hell with moderation:
stone dead panel
Sign of support for Sign that a con is really
fan creations strapped for programming
Close down dealer's table Hope I can get people by table
for 90 minutes for remaining 750
... I think you get the drift.
Thursday night and Friday, I will work on a short story- NOT a lemon-
which, if anyone gives a damn, I will read in any time left to spare at the
fanfic panel. Suggestions for the story are welcome and may include
Undocumented Features material as well as 'straight' fanfic. I ain't doing
dark material. In fact, expect silliness in one fashion or another.
In the meantime, it would be nice if those of you who like comics, manga,
artwork or card games stop by the WLP panel. I'll go with whatever the
audience wants to, including pointers on how to submit material to
publishers, what few revealations I can give for WLP upcoming projects,
demonstrations of WLP's in-production card games HENSHIN! I'm a Magical
Girl and SAKURA (The Love Comedy Parody Game), portfolio reviews, and the
dreaded Q&A.
(I'm a bit uncomfortable with Q&A, because I'm deathly afraid I might get
it mixed up with T&A- a definite hazard considering the job that keeps me
on-line and out of the fry grease at Burger King. One day, my mind will
wander, and in response to a long statement, I'll answer, "Yes, they are
big, but I think your butt is the really nice thing about you," at which
point the lawyers will haul me away for a walletectomy.)
(Only kidding. Really. }:-{D)
(Of course, there's only one thing worse than having no answers, and that's
having no -questions-...)
Anyway, I'm rambling now, I'm tired, and this ceased being funny somewhere
before I deleted the last three paragraphs I wrote for legal reasons.
Hope to see you at AnimeIowa.
