Although no official statistics were kept, it was widely believed that
Nabiki Tendo, at age 18, was the youngest person ever imprisoned in the
nation of Japan for income tax evasion.
Normally, people her age convicted of tax evasion were given a stiff fine or
probation. But Nabiki�s conviction had been the end result of a five-year
effort by Nerima law enforcement to convict her of something, anything. By
the time Nabiki had been indicted, she had come to control most of the
illegal gambling and smuggling in and out of Nerima district.
***Um red light. I do like this idea of Nabiki getting it in the end (I
know I know) for her "activities" however, she is a legal minor in Japan at
age 18 (legal age being 20). Even for murder, minors are not imprisioned in
Japan...a little reform school (like 18 months) and psychotherapy, then they
are back to the world.
