 One simple wish

A Ranma 1/2 fanfic by CarrotGlace

 One simple wish.

I own none of the characters so don't sue me as they all belong to
Takahashi samma. The song 'Don't turn around' by Ace of Base originally
inspired this. I'm not a fan of this band or anything, but it came on the
Radio and I was driving, and I started to think ... Also I'd like to say
that this is in no small part inspired by the OAV 'AKANE AND HER SISTERS.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
 Prologue.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---

Soun and Genma looked at the cave as they stood breathlessly resting
after the long climb. Soun looked down the mountain they had climbed to
reach the cave and a small amount of egotistical pride emerged in his
chest. "Just like old times eh Saotome?" he commented.

"Quite so Tendo," agreed his old friend. "Lets get going, I hope this
works Saotome," said Tendo as he walked into the cave.

A few moments later the two weary travelers looked upon a beautiful pond
just inside the cave, it seemed to glow with a natural light from within
the water. Genma, who had some experience with magic springs, edged away
carefully. Soun looked at the spring and sighed, "There it is Saotome,
the legendary "Spring of Eternal Light!" he started to cry.

"It is said that those who travel here are granted a single wish," said
Saotome sagely.

Soun took a coin from his pocket and threw it into the spring. A
beautiful woman with long flowing hair rose from the water, she opened
her eyes revealing her almost transparent eye color. "Her eyes glow like
the water," said Genma with an odd look on his face.

"What is your wish?" she asked in a strange ghostly voice. Genma froze
up in a sort of dazed fear, but Soun spoke up, "We wish that our children
fall in love so that our families may be joined," he said.

"Your wish is the same?" It asked Genma. "Y-yes," said the man, barely
remembering the legend, only one wish is granted, those who wish more get
none.

"Go! Your wish is granted and my time here grows short," she said as she
sank beneath the water, the two men left the cave with tears in their
eyes.

---------------------------

As they reached the bottom of the mountain the two weary travelers sat
for a moment to rest. "At last Tendo, our families will be joined!"

Soun began to reply but was cut off by the explosion. The two looked at
the top of the mountain and saw fire and lava erupting from the huge hole
where the mountaintop and the cave had once been.

-----------------

Ranma looked down at the battered Kuno and smirked "Hey Kuno,
g'morning!" he quipped after giving him his ritual beating for the day.

Nabiki smiled at this slightly and quickly composed herself. "What
brought that on?" she wondered.

Ranma looked at her for a moment and stopped. "Does she always watch me
like that?" he wondered...

------------------------

A few days later the two joyous travelers returned to their home. "Oh
father, Mr. Saotome! you're home! Every one will be so pleased," Kasumi
cheerfully greeted the two men.

"Where are Ranma and Akane?" the two men asked.

Seemingly in reply the thumping of a chase started from the bedrooms,
"Ranma you JERK!" came from upstairs and Ranma flew over the rail, over
the living room, and crashed into the Koi pond outside.

"Uncute tomboy," he grumbled. "Hey Pop, finally came back from cowering
from the old freak?" he asked noticing the two men.

Soun looked at Genma as the tears welled up in their eyes. "It didn't
work...nothing's changed!"

Genma grabbed his friend by his dogi, "The explosion must have ... " the
two men cried together not realizing how wrong they were.

Part 1: Only you
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---

Ranma shifted uncomfortably as he sat looking straight ahead, he noticed
Nabiki's gaze was on him again.

"What's wrong with you?" asked Akane sounding angry as she noticed he
wasn't shoving his breakfast into his mouth this morning.

"Nothing," replied Ranma glancing at Nabiki, mysteriously his breakfast
kept getting smaller as his father ate.

Nabiki walked off looking strange as she headed towards the door. She
glanced at Ranma for a moment and looked at the ground as she walked
away.

The boy looked uneasy as the girl watched him. "I hope she's all right
... " he heard himself say.

Akane looked at him oddly, "All right Ranma what has she got on you?"
she grumbled.

Ranma looked at her, "Nothing, that's what's bothering me, she hasn't
tried to get a single yen out of me in days."

"What's wrong with that?!" yelled Akane defensively.

"Nothing except I'd give all I have to he ... " Ranma's train of though
stopped abruptly. "What am I thinking?" he said aloud.

"Not much," commented Akane as she dragged him outside for school.

-------------------------

A few days later Akane walked up to Nabiki uneasily; things has
continued as they had from the day Genma and Soun returned from the
sacred mountain. Of course none of the children knew about that trip.
"What's with you two? You've been avoiding each other all week, do you
have something on Ranma?" she asked her sister sounding angry.

"More than you'll ever know," said Nabiki. "But that has nothing to do
with this," she continued dryly.

 "What's going on?" asked Akane.

"It's better if you don't know," replied Nabiki. Akane looked at her for
a moment and frowned, "and don't bother asking Ranma because he doesn't
know," she added and winced at her actions.

Just then Ranma walked by with Shampoo and Ukyo in tow. "I said I'm not
hungry!" he cried in frustration.

Akane's face darkened "Jerk," she growled, suddenly she stopped. Had
someone else said that too? She turned to face Nabiki and saw her slowly
moving away she walked towards her room. "I must have imagined it..."

"Man I hope Nabiki doesn't see this," said Ranma under his breath as the
two girls badgered him.

Ukyo stopped her argument with Shampoo. "Nabiki? why?"

"Because stupid spatula girl she sell to violent tomboy," said Shampoo
trying to sound smart with her accent totally dispelling the illusion.

"Ranma we need to talk," said a voice from behind them.

"UUH Nabiki I can explain ... " stuttered Ranma nervously.

"Alone," she said in a tone that frightened the boy slightly.

"What mercenary girl want with Ranma?" asked Shampoo angrily.

"It's none of your business, a personal business matter," Nabiki
narrowed her eyes at the pair and smiled slightly. "It's also important
Ranma," she turned and walked away.

-----------------------

Ranma looked nervously around as Nabiki lead him into the storage shed.
"Look I can explain ... " started Ranma.

"Shut up Ranma," said Nabiki. "From the way you're acting I'd say my
suspicions are true. Since when do you care what I think?" she said
angrily.

"What? I always cared!" said Ranma looking at her and blushing.

"No, it just seems that way because you're in love with me," she
angrily.

"What?!! No way! I..." started Ranma.

"The way you seem to have lost interest in Akane? You've hardly spoken
to her all week, plus you dodged her the other day and ran away. That is
some thing you never do just on a whim without reason," said Nabiki in
her most calculating voice.

"What?!! I ... " began Ranma, but the girl cut him off abruptly.

"Can it Ranma, I think this is just one of Colognes games, now tell me,
it's very important. Do you love me?" she looked at him with a hurt and
angry gaze.

"Yeah," he said looking ashamed and angry, he hated when things like
this happened to him, unfortunately they happened a lot.

"Don't be ashamed, it's not your ... " she stopped herself as much as
she wanted to comfort him, now was not the time. "I am having the same
feelings," she said looking angrier, "and I don't like having my feelings
toyed with."

"You think I do?" he asked looking at her with a small amount of pain in
his eyes.

She blushed remembering the time she tricked him into being her
fiance'. "I am sorry about that ... " she said turning her gaze away
from him. "Am I really?" she wondered.

"So what do we do?" asked Ranma trying very hard not to make any kind of
bodily contact.

"We do nothing, we feign ignorance until I can figure out exactly what
happened to us," said Nabiki.

"All right," said Ranma with a heavy sigh, and the two went about their
day.

Part 2 What do you want?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
Nabiki looked at Cologne angrily. "Spell? I'm afraid I don't know what
you're talking about child," Replied the elder Amazon.

"What?" growled Nabiki. The old woman would most likely help her; it was
not in her interest to see her and Ranma in love.

"I'm afraid it has been some time since I have tried magical means to
ensnare the son-in-law," said Cologne calmly.

"But who, and why?" asked Nabiki coolly.

"Tell me the nature of the spell and perhaps I can help," said Cologne.

"It is a love potion, and in almost two weeks it has not worn off," said
Nabiki.

The Amazon looked at her coolly. "I would have known by now if my
Shampoo had been messing with any of my spices that could even have such
an effect, and two weeks is far to long for any of the spells I could
create here. Are you sure this is a spell child? It may just be that you
have fallen for him," Cologne said with a wicked smile.

"I'm not foolish old woman, I thought of that but Ranma and I have been
down this road before, if you remember," she answered coolly.

"Your so called engagement was hardly like this child, perhaps it was
just your time for such a thing," said Cologne carefully.

"You think I didn't consider that? No, I'm fairly sure this is a spell,"
said Nabiki reinforcing her point.

"And why is that?" asked Cologne with a small smile.

"Because Ranma is effected as well," said Nabiki, Cologne's smile
disappeared.

Ranma looked at Nabiki as she stood next to Cologne, pretty much
ignoring the old woman. "I see what you mean," said Cologne looking a
little annoyed. "You were wise to keep this from Shampoo."

"I've seen how she deals with her problems, especially after the
engagement thing," said Nabiki dryly "Ranma please stop looking at me
that way," she said after a moment blushing slightly.

Ranma turned red and turned away. "Cologne what can we do?" asked Ranma.

Cologne looked at him.

"He used my name?" she thought idly, the old woman took something from
her clothes. Ranma immediately recognized it, "the Reversal jewel?" he
said with a slightly strained voice. The boy was an easy to read person,
Nabiki knew he did not like this item.

"Yes its original purpose was to counter love spells, what you know of
it is just an interesting side effect. Place it on its side over your
heart child; if it is truly a spell it will be able to push the effects
away perhaps long enough to discover the source," she said with a small
smile, she never told many this but she rather enjoyed this sort of
thing.

Nabiki smiled weakly at Ranma and placed the jewel on. "Nothing
happened," she said.

"Son in law now you place it on in the same manner. Ranma complied. He
looked at Nabiki who watched closely.

Cologne sighed. "It is as I feared."

 "What is it?" asked Nabiki.

"This is no spell child, no wizards no matter how powerful they are, can
change the fates lines. You two are truly in love; Nabiki Tendo you are
now an obstacle to my granddaughter. You had best prepare." Cologne
warned her as she leapt away.

"Nabiki...I'm not sure I would have wanted things back the way they
were," said Ranma as he put his arm around her as she cried.

She looked up at him, "Thanks Ranma."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Part 3 Truth be told.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--

"You see child it is as I feared," said Cologne as she looked into the
amulet.

"Shampoo only saw a small light," said the young Amazon girl.

"The thread of love that was between Ranma and Akane has been severed it
is now a one sided love," the elder said to her great granddaughter.

"Aiya! Shampoo so happy!" Squealed the amazon.

"But a new thread has been created between Nabiki and Ranma one even
stronger than the one he had with Akane; it is as if Ranma's brotherly
feelings towards her have been combined with his love for the youngest
Tendo girl," said Cologne.

Shampoo smirked "I crush puny girl, she no can fight," she said with a
large grin.

"She is a more dangerous adversary than you think child, and the groom
will be very protective of one so weak in battle be cautious," she
continued only to turn and see Shampoo had already left.

------------------------

Ranma stood back behind Nabiki and watched warily as she conducted her
business. "Are you sure you have no pictures of the pigtailed goddess?"
asked Kuno with a slight hunger in his eyes.

Nabiki stole a glance at Ranma and saw he was trying very hard to
control himself. "I'm afraid those pictures will no longer be available,"
she said looking at him; he flashed a small smile of thanks to her. That
alone was worth the loss of profit to her.

"I will pay any price!" cried Kuno in desperation, Ranma grit his teeth.

"I said they are not available any longer Kuno," she said calmly.

"So you wish to keep me from my Goddess as well?! It seems you have
fallen under Saotome's spell as well Nabiki Tendo!" he said looking at
her angrily, suddenly he felt an Iron grip on his shoulder, he looked
back to see Ranma holding him forcefully down.

"That's enough Kuno," he said through his teeth.

"Take your hands off my personage knave!" growled Kuno through the pain.
Ranma tightened his grip and the kendoist cried out in pain. "I said
that's enough," he said coldly.

"No, Ranma you stop," said Akane from behind him.

---------------------

Ranma looked at his fiance with sad eyes, they where standing in a
quiet corner of Furinkan High School's hallways. "What's gotten into you
Ranma? You've become Nabiki's guard dog and you haven't spoken to me in
weeks. Whatever it is I can take it ... I ... I promise not to get
angry," she said looking at him.

"How could have I have been so blind? She *is* in love with me ... " he
thought with a small amount of pain, he would not enjoy hurting her but
it was the only way, for all of them. "Don't make promises you can't keep
Akane," he said as he walked way.

"Ranma?" she said looking confused and hurt with her fiance.

---------------------

The next day Ranma ate his breakfast in his usual manner with the
exception of his apparent loss of interest in Akane, she looked at him
angrily as he sat between Nabiki and his father. "Jerk," she muttered.

"Now what did I do?" he asked. Nabiki got up and left for school, Ranma
followed.

---------------------

"Ranma?" asked Nabiki as she walked along side him.

"Hnn?" replied Ranma pretending he wasn't watching her.

"Don't turn away I'm a lot more observant than Akane," she said with a
wry smile. Ranma blushed. "Do you want to be cured?" she asked him
nervously.

"Huh?" he said looking dumbly at her as he jumped down beside her.

"I hate to admit it but ... I've never been happier. I don't think I
could go back to who I was even if I was cured, I'd spend all my time and
energy just trying to find this again. I ... I don't want this to stop,"
she said sadly.

Ranma stopped and looked at her softly. "I've never had a normal
relationship before," he said with more than a little red in his face.
"It is kinda nice ... "

Nabiki grabbed him and kissed him hard on the lips eventually probing
his mouth with her tongue, he hugged her and returned the kiss after a
brief moment of surprise, they broke it abruptly.

"Akane is not going to take this well," said Nabiki with a sad look.

Ranma looked slightly sad as well. "I'm more worried about Shampoo, she
can be dangerous Nabiki, remember the last time we tried something like
this? You have to avoid her at all cost now," said Ranma warningly.

"You can train me," said the girl with a small smile as she thought
about a buff and tried looking Ranma after his usual workouts.

"I can and will, you're in good shape and it wouldn't take more than a
few months to get you halfway decent, but no where near good enough to
even stand a chance against Shampoo or even Akane. Besides I don't want
Shampoo giving you the kiss of death on the off chance you can beat her,"
said Ranma looking at her softly.

"Akane is not going to take this well," She thought again as a plan
formed in her mind. "I want you to start training me, tonight."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
A few weeks pass...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--

Ranma looked as Nabiki sat in front of a small fire and began to train
for the chestnut fist. "OW! Damn it!" she said wincing in pain.

Ranma looked at her in wonder. She had had a great deal more skill than
he had originally thought. Apparently she had trained when she was
younger and she kept in shape; also he was amazed at her seeming renewed
interest in the art, she was almost obsessive; she had trained harder in
these three weeks than he had his whole life. "Nabiki you haven't
developed the speed and arm strength to do this yet," he sighed as he
tried to convince her to quit.

"I will get this," she said through her teeth.

"Yeah, in a few months maybe, you're not ready for this yet," he said
weakly. Nabiki ignored him.

Soun smiled as he saw the light in the Dojo still on. He was glad his
other daughter was once again interested in the arts, although why she
insisted that Ranma help train her was beyond him. "Perhaps she likes his
flashy nature? After all the girl had seen him fight a great deal more
than himself," he reluctantly complied in the end.

------------------------------------

Akane also watched as the Dojo light was still on. She was a bit angry
that Ranma had been spending all his time training her sister and a bit
jealous of her sister's determination. He had barely been able to speak
with her in the past three weeks with school and Nabiki's training
schedule that according to him, she herself made. She wondered if it had
anything to do with the fact that Shampoo had been looking for her for
the past three weeks, she had shown up several times and waited for her
at the dojo only to just miss her. It was as if Nabiki had been avoiding
the amazon. She thought she even heard her training late at night when
every one else was asleep. She was beginning to worry that something had
happened between her and Shampoo.

------------------------

Shampoo growled at the luck of Nabiki Tendo as she stood on the rooftops
of Nermima. She had tried several times to remove her obstacle, only to
be stopped by Ranma. Why was he defending her? She supposed it was
because she was weak and he felt it was his duty to defend her. She felt
a small amount of pride that he was that chivalrous. Then the other day
she had been able to escape her on her own, the cold bitch was getting
better, nowhere near good enough to beat her, but better still. She was
also getting harder to find her Great Grandmother was right about her
being more dangerous than she expected...

--------------------------

Ukyo Kuonji looked at her clock and saw it was time to close the store.
Ranma had not been by for some time now and she was getting worried. She
closed her store and thought for a moment, he had been spending allot of
time training his new student and she saw him at school, perhaps he just
hasn't had time to come ... " he doesn't have time to see his own
fiance? He is going to have some explaining to do," she mentally
growled.

-----------------------

The next morning Ukyo turned the corner to make her way towards the
school, only to wish she never got out of bed. There was Ranma locked in
a passionate kiss with Akane his hand on her chest and hers on his ass;
"Wait a minute! That is not Akane!"

Ranma looked toward the sound of anger and braced himself. Ukyo was
looking at him with a rage in her eyes. "How dare you cheat on me!" she
yelled.

Ranma backed against the wall with a look of fear in his eyes, Nabiki
stared at Kuonji with a hard gaze. "Excuse me?"

"You get your hands off my fiance' you hussy!!" she yelled as Nabiki
looked at her.

"A-actually I grabbed her," said Ranma looking very upset and ashamed.
"And I'd appreciate it if you didn't talk to her that way," he added as
he looked at the ground his voice wavered.

Ukyo looked at him and stopped as a horrified look spread across her
face she turned and ran away with tears in her eyes. Nabiki looked at him
and stared, he had never done any thing like that for Akane, and it was
very likely he had just lost his best friend. She hugged him as he looked
at Ukyo's fading silhouette.

"That hurt Nabiki-chan," he said sadly.

"I know Ranma-kun," she said as she hugged him softly.

-------------------

Later that day P-chan was enjoying a nap on Akane's bed when a shadow
loomed over his small body. "Hello Ryoga," said a female voice. Ryoga's
eyes snapped open as fear ran down his spine. He turned to face Nabiki,
and breathed a small breath of relief. "We need to talk," she said as she
carried him towards the bathroom.

---------------------

"Jeez, Akane you think you could follow the instructions in the book
just once?" said Ranma as he sat up after another one of Akane's meals.
Akane hit him on the head with her fist and he fell face first on the
table. Nabiki looked at Akane darkly.

"I'm going on a trip," announced Nabiki. Everyone turned to look at her.
"I'll be gone for two weeks."

"What where?" said Soun and Ranma in unison. "I need to do the taxes and
I need quiet," she said not entirely lying.

"Two weeks?" asked Soun sounding distraught and not entirely convinced.

"We are being audited and I have to sort through all the extra bills of
two free loaders, and the damages from 'The happy couple,'" she winked at
Ranma and gave Akane a dark look, causing both to blush. "I'm leaving
tomorrow."

Ranma wanted to get up and tell every one that he would be going with
her but he knew he could not yet.

Soun Reluctantly complied and everyone accepted her excuse.

---------------------------

After a lot of crying (Compliments of one Soun Tendo.) Nabiki made her
good byes and left. Once outside She headed for the vacant lot where
Ryoga was staying. "Let's go," she said.

"Are you sure you want to do this? You could be killed, at your strength
you'll at least be very seriously hurt," said Ryoga in the vain hope she
would reconsider.

"I don't care," she said coldly.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--
10 DAYS LATER...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
---

Ryoga looked at Nabiki and sighed in relief. "I told you," she said
looking at him defiantly.

"You're lucky you didn't die!" replied Ryoga with an angry growl.

"Your secret is safe," she said trying to sound as friendly as possible,
"I'm sorry I had to do this that way." Ryoga snorted at her as she said
this.

"So now what?" he said looking at her side ways.

"Now I go home, after I make a stop," she replied. At first he refused
to train her even in light of losing his secret, but after he heard her
reasons he was a lot easier to convince. "I missed something," she said
as she walked away, leaving a confused Ryoga behind. He followed her
after realizing he didn't know where he was.

----------------------

"Father Nabiki's home early!" called Kasumi as Nabiki entered the house.

"Oh, my little girl is home!" he cried. He stopped as she saw Ryoga
standing beside her with a strained look on his face.

Ranma rushed down the stairs to greet her but also looked at Ryoga,
Akane glared at Ranma angrily as he ran past her.

"Oh Ryoga-kun you decided to stop by?" she said seeing her friend, Ryoga
smiled nervously.

"Ranma its time," she said sadly. A slow dawning crept across his face.

"That wasn't a business trip at all?" he said aloud looking surprised.

 "No," confirmed Nabiki.

Ranma grabbed Ryoga by his shirt. "What did you do?" he asked angrily.

Akane growled at him and started to glow, "Ranma!!"

"Don't touch him, Akane!" said Nabiki sharply. "I won't let you hurt him
any more!" she said sternly.

Ranma backed away as the shit was about to hit the fan.

Akane looked at her sister. "What?"

"You keep your hands off my fiance," said Nabiki coldly.

Akane looked at Ranma with an angry look in her eyes. "You ... You
pervert!" she yelled as she charged him only to get knocked away by her
sister's kick, she stood and looked at the girl in confusion.

"Ranma and I are engaged Akane," she said as a slow comprehension hit
Akane.

"This has been going on for a while hasn't it?" she said as she looked
at her sister, Nabiki nodded. "And you think I'll just give up after I
almost died for him?" she growled.

"You'll have to no matter what now I'm afraid," said Nabiki with a sad
look suddenly overshadowing her anger.

"You bitch!" yelled Akane as she was overcome in anger and charged her
sister like a mad bull. She looked in horror as Nabiki walked into her
punch unfazed. "You had him Akane, and all you did was hurt him, I won't
let you hurt him any more! KATSU TENSHIN AMSGURIKEN!" Nabiki felt her
fist hit her sister hundreds of times in the space of a second. The girl
reeled from the blow but was not taken out. Nabiki lacked accuracy or any
real power.

Ranma looked at Ryoga with a questioning glance. Ryoga only nodded in
answer, looking ashamed to have put her through the Bakusai Tenketsu
training.

Akane traded blows with Nabiki and looked angrily at her. "I can't hurt
her!" she thought as her punches had no effect on her sister. She swung
again and Nabiki blocked. Akane started and swung again at the same
spot...blocked again. Akane backed away and looked at Nabiki, she punched
her in the face and chest each time getting hit back and Nabiki made no
attempt to block.
She swung at her sister once more, and stopped mid-swing. Nabiki looked
at her sister's confused and hurt gaze, and nodded.

Akane looked at her sister and turned away. "Late night training in her
sisters room? Apparently not," she thought bitterly.

"I found out a few days ago, after I finished training," said the elder
sister as she moved her arms away from her stomach.

Akane turned wordlessly and walked out of the Dojo, and out into Nerima.
Ryoga followed her quietly.

Ranma looked at Nabiki and held her as she came into his arms with tears
in her eyes. Soun looked at his daughter, and frowned. "The wedding will
be tomorrow," he said to the boy.

Ranma nodded and looked at his soon to be wife, he kissed her and looked
at his father.

----------------------

Genma looked at Soun in horror even after several days had passed, "It
wasn't supposed to happen this way," Akane had not returned for several
days; Ranma had tried to comfort his wife the best he could and her
surprise pregnancy had not helped matters any. They had received a letter
from Akane yesterday, stating that she had gone on a training trip and
did not know when she would return, if ever. It pleaded for them not to
worry about her.

"This is all our fault Saotome," cried Soun.

"How so Tendo?" asked Genma trying to comfort his friend.

"The wish, it came true," sobbed Soun from his mat as he lay distraught
on the floor. Genma paled. "And now my little girl..."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Epilogue 15 years later...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--

Ranma sat with Akane on the porch of the Saotome home. "I'm Glad you
decided to visit," he said looking at his sister.

"Well, I love spending time with my nephew, and niece. How are they
anyway? I haven't seen them yet."

"Well Reiko is probably off with spring, ever since he beat her me and
Shampoo have to watch them like hawks; the little perverts are a lot more
receptive to that law than I was with Shampoo," he said looking annoyed.
"Mai-chan is working for Ukyo, I still think she get her cooking skills
from your side of the family but Ucchan says she has promise." He said
with an amused smile.

"Baka raising twins has made you soft," said Akane playfully.

"You sound like Ryoga when Akari is not around, I'm still good enough to
kick both your butts." said Ranma with a smile.

"That still pisses me off! Here I went and devoted my entire life to
martial arts and travel around the world learning all kinds of things and
I come back and you still dance around like always," Akane grumbled. "How
do you do it?"

"Ryoga mostly, he shows up every couple of weeks and we beat on each
other until one of us wins, and then drink beer and talk shop and about
old times. Mousse too whenever he shows up in Japan on business, I think
he and Shampoo have been seeing each other behind the ghoul's back.
Probly ever since she stopped trying to kill Nabiki ten years ago, you
should have seen the mess we made last time all three of us got
together!" said Ranma with a chuckle, Akane smiled and looked somewhat
wistful. "So how long you gonna be in town?"

"Just a few days, you know I like to move around, I'm starting to feel
like Ryoga," said the woman cheerfully.

"Nah, you actually know where your going most of the time," said Ranma
with a smile. "So when you gonna find a man?"

"Jerk, you know I've been seeing that Teacher in Okinawa for a while
now. You sound like Auntie Saotome," she replied.

"He seems nice," said Ranma as he got up to answer the phone. "Hello?
... Yes dear," Ranma sighed as he picked up his coat and walked over to
Akane. "I gotta go over and Pick up that pervert son of mine from the Cat
Cafe' they were at it again. Luckily Shampoo caught them before anything
happened, wanna come I'd appreciate the embarrassment factor you'd
provide," he said as he walked towards the door.

"Sure like father like son," she said as she joined him. "Is Nabiki
already there?" asked Akane.

"How did you ... " started Ranma.

"Because you'd be in real trouble if you started calling Shampoo dear,"
she quipped. Ranma turned red and smiled. "I want to get in a match with
my sister while I'm here and see how good a teacher you really are,"
Akane frowned a little and moved her arms around impatiently as they
walked out the door.

"Aww, come on Akane, you know she stopped after Shampoo stopped trying
to kill her, quit teasing her about it already," said Ranma with a smile.

Together the pair walked into Nerima.
